Sierra’s dad seems to be a pretty standup guy. Joyce’s father is no saint, but he’s probably better than her mother. Carla’s father, I’m guessing he did a thing or two he shouldn’t be proud of to get where he is, but at least he’s supportive (possibly to the point of enabling).
I mean I don’t agree with you but kinda get it? The sourness can be overpowering for a some people, but it’s also got spiciness and a kind of savoriness like butter that I and others like?
Mustard is part of the local culture where I grew up, but also the tang of mustard combined with sweetness of ketchup just taste good honey mustard good for most cold sandwiches. Brown mustard goes good on hot dog if you want a bit of kick but not so much on a cold cut or burger also I won’t eat ketchup with brown mustard.
I suspect something ‘way back in prehistory selected for the gene that causes (many of) us to deliberately ingest chemicals that plants evolved to repel or kill animals that would eat them, and enjoy spiting said plants. In you face, mustard! I’m looking at you, horseradish! Take that, much of the genus capsicum!
But that’s the thing, ketchup is so sweet that when you mix the two together (as in Joyce’s burger) you get more than halfway to honey mustard’s sweetness, plus you get the nice tomato flavour from ketchup. It’s like less-candylike honey mustard plus tomato.
Personally I like more than just those two on a hamburger but I get the attraction of the simpler flavour profile.
i’m not rly into many condiments but i’d tolerate/wipe off mustard and wouldn’t mind a lingering taste versus a remake compared to like mayo (ironically i love eggs, i guess it’s the vinegar)

I don’t think it’ll be, like, active glee, but we do know Sarah enjoys people getting their comeuppance and though that is not really the case here, the appearance of such may soften Sarah’s disposition enough that Joe won’t feel the wrath of her baseball bat.

Y’know what a Dagwood sandwich is? That’s essentially what I likely burgers to be like. I frequently stack up enough toppings (and variety of toppings) to make my burgers 4″ tall, uncrushed. I am also not very picky, but I do love Tex-Mex inspired toppings; jalapenos, salsa, guacamole, avocado… A standard California Burger (LTO, mayo, pickles, cheese) is also good.
I’ll put just about any of your usual toppings on it, minus relish, but my absolute favorite combo is slightly runny fried egg, pepperjack cheese and salsa.
Depends on the place and my mood. My usual Five Guys order is lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, ketchup, sautéed mushrooms, and jalapenos. But I love a bacon-bleu, a mushroom swiss, and chili burgers too.

And i’m not necessarily one for British-isms(?) but surprised we also wouldn’t call them ‘gherkins’, which might be a specific type, and a little weird unless you grow up using that word, but technically you can ‘pickle’ anything like in korea ‘mu’ is pickled radish and kimchi being pickled cabbage as a common thing so i imagine if some places were more into ‘pickling’ you could have your choice of ‘pickled cucumbers’ versus carrots etc
The twist is that Joe is not still alive, or at least not for long. Everything with Joe and Joyce dating has only happened in Joe’s mind as Sarah’s baseball bat descends towards his skill after she found out what almost happened to her sister, ala Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge.
I think my favourite part is that he isn’t telling her she can let go of her anxieties coz he’s there, but that she can relax them by a small amount – I like that he’s realistic about what he can do to help!
Also, I think Sarah will tolerate him dating Joyce if it makes her happy, on the understanding that if he hurts her the baseball bat will be knocking his balls out of the field.

And i’m not necessarily one for British-isms(?) but surprised we also wouldn’t call them ‘gherkins’, which might be a specific type, and a little weird unless you grow up using that word, but technically you can ‘pickle’ anything like in korea ‘mu’ is pickled radish and kimchi being pickled cabbage as a common thing so i imagine if some places were more into ‘pickling’ you could have your choice of ‘pickled cucumbers’ versus carrots etc

The twist is that Joe is not still alive, or at least not for long. Everything with Joe and Joyce dating has only happened in Joe’s mind as Sarah’s baseball bat descends towards his skill after she found out what almost happened to her sister, ala Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge.

Never. But I did watch “Fantastic Voyage” with Raquel Welch when I was a kid, so they must have shrunk Willis down to microscopic size.
I think my favourite part is that he isn’t telling her she can let go of her anxieties coz he’s there, but that she can relax them by a small amount – I like that he’s realistic about what he can do to help!
Also, I think Sarah will tolerate him dating Joyce if it makes her happy, on the understanding that if he hurts her the baseball bat will be knocking his balls out of the field.

the only things she’ll put on a burger are the only things I WON’T put on a burger. I’ll take cheese, lettuce, pickle, onion, tomato, but if there is ONE DROP of ketchup, mustard, or mayonnaise on it then it may as well be trash.
