I would guess so. I am pretty sure the cops would need a specific search or arrest warrant, and could not simply ransack the entire girls’ dormitory in search of evidence. Therefore, they have to be here for a specific person(s) or room, and as they don’t seem to know who Amazigirl is (and if they did she would be out of the comic regardless) it seems likely that they are not here for Amber.
I mean amazigirl was full on kicking cops on the face, I don’t think the antics in the comic stretch as far as absolving her of assaulting officers.
eskimolos
I need to clarify that I mean this only as “the cops are definitely at least partly here for her”, not at all “amazigirl should suffer for her actions”, also merrry crimmussss
Envy
People very likely say Amazi-girl interacting with Joyce and Dorothy, so I’m guessing the cops are going after the identifiable people to try and glean Amazi-girl’s identity(because she’s likely a higher value target, what with the whole “kicking cops in the face” thing).
did you know civilians lose more property every year to unlawful civil asset forfeiture than to all burglaries combined???
cops can steal your shit without even charging you for a crime, and it makes some police departments very rich
and that’s not even accounting for the ludicrous grants they get for combat training and equipment which belong in fuckin war zones X-X
VicMortimer
Yep, they are literally the biggest, most dangerous street gang in the country. We would be better off with no police at all than the police we have.
Throwatron
B-b-b-but, if it weren’t for the police force, who would [checks notes] show up to your house, four hours after you’ve been robbed, and then shoot your dog??? These are the kinds of services our tax dollars need to pay for!
bold of you to assume cops dont just do Whatever The Fuck They Want in america. Dude they kidnap people with masks on in broad daylight, no one will ever hold them accountable. and that’s in REAL LIFE

Are ICE even cops?
Decidedly Orthogonal
This is a case where — at present — being “technically not police” has little to no effect on the real suffering they can and are causing.
TheScreenJockey
Lawyer here. ICE are cops. They have all the same law enforcement powers, privileges, and immunities as other cops. They just have a specific set of federal laws they are focused on enforcing, much like the DEA or Federal Air Marshals.
TheScreenJockey
The reason ICE often roll with local police in tow is because they are FEDERAL law enforcement, and thus have no authority to make arrests for violations of STATE laws. For this reason, they usually bring from city, county, or state cops with them for the purposes of making such arrests. Just gives them a broader set laws to use and abuse as excuses to harass people. If you don’t appear to be doing anything they can spin into a possible federal crime, but they want you gone, they’ll just turn to the locals and ask them to spin it as some state, county, or local violation.
eh, whatever
I thought they work for an administrative agency and are therefore, technically, not law enforcement?
I wonder how true that is, since IU has their own “real” campus police and it’s been my experience that uni cops can play funny games with the legalities of dorm searches etc.
Big Z
(by which I mean, back in my own college days we’d have the occasional uniformed dork show up with a “residence hall/campus security staff don’t need a warrant to wander around university property sniffing for weed, oops I smell smoke that means I can enter as a member of landlord/uni staff in an emergency, oh hey look at the pot whoops I’m now putting on my badge and metaphorical police officer hat.”)
Exactly how specific a search warrant needs to be is ultimately up to the judge signing it (and then the judge at trial and potentially appeals), so long as it specifies a place to be searched (Read Hall girls’ wings), the things to be searched for (Amazi-Girl costume and associated equipment), an alleged crime (assaulting police officers), and the facts that tie those three things together (Identifying Amazi-Girl as the one who assaulted the cops, Amazi-Girl sightings in and around Read Hall in particular making her a likely resident there, etc).
thejeff
Is that actually legit?
Could a warrant be given to search all homes in a neighborhood, for example? Or all apartments in an a building? Without specifying separate reasons for each?
Tan
Indiana Code 35-33-5-2 specifically states “the house or place to be searched”. Note the word “house” rather than “home”. So all the houses in a neighborhood likely wouldn’t fly, but all the apartments in a single building might. I am not a lawyer and I have not studied Indiana caselaw. It’s entirely possible that there is already existing precedent that it either would or wouldn’t. If not, it’s gonna come down to the judge’s discretion.
in the united states, is an old Jewish tradition to get Chinese food on Christmas,
around the start of the 1900s, Jewish and Chinese folk were the two largest non-Christian immigrant groups in this country, Chinese restaurants were frequently the only places open on Christmas so that’s were we went to eat! XD

Plus, everything is kosher if you don’t know exactly what it is. Well known Christmas loophole.
I really hope Amber can get out of this situation without having to confront the cops. She should make sure anything Amazi-Girl related is well hidden, and then go somewhere else.
So how are we feeling; do you think she’s going to get caught, or manage to slip away?
Right. So we’re back on the Sal arrested train. Shitto daze.
Mitzi B.
updating my “i will riot if they’re arrested” position: I will riot if Sal gets arrested for having Amazi-Girl’s gear. DYW!

Dina is behind the door. Every door. Like Schrodinger’s cat, she exists in a probabilistic state and the waveform only collapses once you actually move the door and look.
she doesn’t have to leave campus just get out of Read Hall. That’s where the cops are going, any other dorm will work. She really does have to get out of there though since even if the other protesters could escape charges with freedom of speech arguments Amber’s got a little bit of a more difficult time since instead of just protesting she was actively pummeling cops.

Hopefully, they’re here to arrest the LEADER who started that riot and this is the start of Dorothy’s counterculture career.

So, dying her hair black, gray flannel, and switching to horn-rimmed glasses. Check.

Don’t forget a beret for that Maldaver from Fallout look.

Pretty sure even in Fallout the reference is
A beret for Ché
eh, whatever
¡Subcomandante Keener!

Why would the “leader” be at the dorms? It would be more likely that they aren’t a student, or even single person.

A-yep. Too late to leave the building. Gotta go hode with the boys.
Tessea
Or up in the drop ceiling. She’s done it before!

She wasn’t injured then.

Also, she was Amazi-Girl then.
I wonder if this is AG’s revenge for sticking her with the hangover…

Perhaps it’s time to take Walky up on his invitation to Nintendo

Maybe, but her natural instinct is going to be to turn to Ethan as someone she can depend on in an emergency.

“Ken, there’s not much time to explain. I need you to make it look like you’re fucking me face-down-ass-up, in case the cops check this wing.”

She will definitely get away, the real question is whether Dina hid her AG stuff well enough for hte cops not to find it.

She’s Dina. The stuff is somehow in a bunker hundreds of miles away that Dina somehow appeared in

No, no, that’s only a power she acquires when holding hands with Charlie. She can sneak anywhere, true, but teleportation requires them both.

I feel Charlie would be anti police enough to help Dina with this task
