          It looks like she’s on a second story. It depends on how she lands and what she lands on, but it’s unlikely she’ll be seriously injured. When I was a kid I jumped out my second story window; it hurt, but no lasting damage. I landed on my feet in bushes. I probably could have landed in a better position and I don’t think I was wearing shoes.

          If she lands head-first on concrete, she could be in trouble, but with her physical prowess I doubt she’d do that. It looks like she’s possibly jumping for a tree.

          It’s possible she’ll hurt her ankle or something in the landing, limp slightly while running off, and they’ll have another clue about who Amazi-girl is. Just a thought.

        That actually sounds like a kinda awesome concept for a super hero. They are immune to anything that their enemies announce will surely defeat them.

        It would be like those golden age comics where the bad guys must loudly exclaim everything that’s happening in the panel. “Ha, now I have you Stupendo-Lad, even you cannot survive a blast from my Q-Ray!…Zounds! My ray is bouncing right off his flesh! Impossible!”

        Eventually the criminals of the city will learn that they have to be really encouraging and supportive of the hero to even stand a chance. “I’m sure there’s no way I can shoot you, you are way too fast!…Rocky, don’t bother hitting him with that iron bar, can’t you see how awesome he is?”

    Good plan. Splitting up is how cops deal with guys who go for the roofs. It takes less energy to spread out a bit and keep a guy in sight than it does for a dude to climb his way up on a rooftop and sprint across buildings. Policy in my city is basically to keep up with the guy as casually as possible on the ground and let them exhaust themselves rather than chase them up on the roof. Since the dude isn’t batman or spidey they will eventually run out of connecting buildings and have to come back down, which will take more energy and make the guy easy to nab.

    I’m assuming Amber knows a few things about the terrain around here she can use to her advantage, though.

    When your pursuit that’s mostly for your own personal gain causes someone to perform a dramatic leap from a rooftop, it’s time to stop chasing and just let her get away. Of course, Amber’s the one putting herself in danger, but there’s a clear path for Walky and Dorothy to stop her putting herself in danger, at least for now.

      At what point do you become responsible for others?
      Also she totally could have backtracked, she could have thought of them splitting up. Doubling back, gets rid of one, and ditching one person, would have been easier.

        That depends on your own personal sense of morals. Some people would be uncomfortable with trying to forcefully find out her secret identity, so never would have started this investigation. Some people would have stopped chasing her before now out of concern for her safety. Some people would argue that she does this sort of thing anyways, so she’s bound to hurt herself and if she does now (with two people who can immediately call for help), it’s actually safer than if she hurt herself while attempting to apprehend criminals who might take advantage of it to hurt her even more or somewhere that it’d take far longer to get help.

        Right now, I don’t think Dorothy considers herself as responsible for AG’s actions. She’s not actually forcing AmaziGirl to do this. As pointed out, AG could have made safer choices while still evading them. If AG does seriously injure herself, though, (not just a broken bone, but a long hospital stay, etc) I wonder what that would do to Dorothy. She may feel deep guilt and even be horrified that she let her selfish desires drive someone to injure themselves that badly. I don’t think she’s the kind of person who would be able to brush it off as “She made her choice, it’s not my fault”. I don’t really foresee the comic GOING that direction, though.

    Amber makes the jump, runs away, and W&D never find her. Danny continues to ignore her, so she retreats more and more into Amazi-girl for security. eventually Mike/Ethan finds her dressed as Amazi-girl crying. Amber decides to switch colleges because she can’t handle the emotional strain. Hilarity ensues.

    Amber then suddenly breaks her leg horribly. Her secret comes out and she is mentally scarred, and Danny locks himself in his room out of shame. Blaine is given custody of Amber when she is tried in court of vigilantism. Amber attempts suicide. Hilarity ensues.

        Actually, sometimes. Did he abuse Amber or just her mom? If he’s only in trouble for abusing her mother, then the courts will say “Well, he didn’t abuse Amber”. I’m not exaggerating, I know people who’ve had this happen and have to share custody with an abusive man who may hurt their children. The courts are way too obsessed with the nuclear, heteronormative family and “Parents’ Rights” (because, y’know, kids don’t have the right to be safe or anything) sometimes.

        I know someone whose ex was put in jail for molesting his son. He now has unsupervised visitations and overnights (where the son stays the night with the man) with that same son. 🙁 If she refuses to let him go (even if the son refuses to go)- she could get in trouble with the courts for violating the visitation agreement.

      Physics was not pleased with her and wrote her an angry letter, detailing why it thought she should apologize.
      She never read the letter as physics has notoriously bad handwriting, and it was never sent.

        Unfortunately, physics violated causality(of course, stupid physics. Only you.) and sent the letter after Amber read it. The Vogon Beaurocracy League had a conniption fit, and in fact 6 of the top-scoring beaurocrats in the country suffered fatal heart attacks. Fortunately for them, they had neglected to fill in the proper paperwork for death, so they will be revived. In any case, this is a sad day for beaurocracy fans everywhere.

      Walky isn’t really a ‘sabatoge their happiness so they never leave me’ kind of guy. Helping Dorothy accomplish her goals makes her happy, so Walky helps. Even if it’s just a temporary thing no reason he shouldn’t do his best.

      I’m pretty sure that if Walky sabotaged this and Dorothy noticed, she would dump him even sooner. Right now, there’s the possibility that they’ll grow very close in the next two years and be able to maintain a long-distance relationship. Heck, Walky’s smart, he might even apply to transfer with her (I’m sure his parents would be fine with him going to an Ivy League School).

      It’d disturbing that you think long-term relationship success is based on sabotaging your significant other. That’s a healthy viewpoint.

    It’s called “Chase Scene”, it’s a MWF comic, and the plot line is that people chase each other. There’s some laughs (one of the quarries slipped on a bananapeel) there’s some drama (off the edge of a cliff) there’s some tears (into a wood chipper).

    Really everything people are looking for in a comic. Come on, you should do it. For the exposure.

        Why do you think they’re being chased? See, each story would have a deep backstory that would be subtly revealed. Possibly without any dialogue at all.
        Someone could catch a cheating spouse. A cop could run after an addict. A grandmother could assault her grandson for playing the devil’s music!

    The girl in the last panel is a dummy. Not that Amazi-Girl’s a dummy. She’s a smarty. She set up some kind of a dummy as a decoy and escaped. The dummy is now rocking or falling down.
    The posture’s suspiciously stiff. The face looks too round. And the eyes are mostly covered, probably because if Willis drew the dummy’s blank, lifeless eyes it would have been a clear giveaway.

          Or maybe she doesn’t want Walky to figure out that she’s actually Amazi-Girl. It would be a mistake to let him figure out that she can be in two places at once (dummies, perhaps?), and that this chase is all an elaborate ruse to keep suspicion of her secret identity at a minimum. When both she and Amazi-Girl disappear on the roof and aren’t seen, Walky starts to put two and two together to get the four that she’s not a mild-mannered president-in-grooming, but instead a manic-mannered superhero with a passion for JUSTICE!

          But in all gravity, you’re right. To Dorothy, being as Type-A as she is, what Walky is saying probably sounds like ‘well, we can’t get her now.’ Instead of what he’s actually saying which is ‘we can’t get her that way.’ In the heat of the moment, she’s voicing her concern that Walky is just holding her back from her ambitions.

          Which, in general, Walky doesn’t have a place in Dorothy’s very specific plans. He’s helping her now, but it’s probably stewing in her mind that he is just a distraction from doing the things that she needs to do to attain what she wants.
