The Dumbing of Age Book 10 Kickstarter, for the 236-paged Renounce Magical Thinking and Embrace Empirical Evidence, is just $450 from reaching $50K! When it does, we unlock the tenth magnet, HOSTAGE SARAH! Maybe it'll do that while I sleep tonight and I can put her up when I get up in the morning, hmm!
17 days to go! Approximating

best alarm clock???
He Who Abides
Smol Asian woman startling you awake? In my experience, yes.
Wagstaff
She might just do that if you call her “smol”.
Needfuldoer
“Judge me by my size, do you?” She earnestly replies, not getting the reference she just made.
Opus the Poet
Best character, girl, person in the DoAverse.
Fart Captor
The ONLY way to wake up
BBCC
A certain game has proven that goose noises can be equally fun as roaring.
Sirksome
And scarier too as you’re more likely to encounter it in everyday life.
Deanatay
Ow, my nose.
maarvarq
Geese are of course avian dinosaurs, and probably know it.
Regalli
Or, as most players will experience: HONHONHONHONHONHONHONHONHONK.
Sirksome
Fun and accurate!
Proto_Eevee
I refuse to believe Dina is powerless in this universe. So far I got invisibility and super speed.
Maikeruu
Neither. She just has weaponized change blindness.
Deanatay
Wow, the HOMPK! shirt generates a Someone Else’s Problem field?
Bope
And she Heard Becky Napping in the other room. Dino-hearing? Or does Becky snore that loudly?
Clif
Either way, it seems Sirksome was right and Dina has superpowers.
Keulen
I think multiple characters might have superpowers in this universe. Dina with the powers you mentioned of course, but I’m also pretty sure Joyce can teleport based on that strip when she first met Malaya.
zee
Also based on the strip where she met Raidah
thejeff
Based even more on the Fuckface strips where it’s explicitly called out.
JetstreamGW
I mean, I seem to recall the raptors in Jurassic Park *did* make a honk noise.
Sirksome
Jurassic Park 3 specifically made a big deal out of velociraptor communication and they did indeed honk quite a lot. Along with a bunch of other potentially scientifically questionable noises.
Devin
Well, the Jurassic Park franchise sure has thrown a lot of spaghetti at the wall, some of it had to stick.
Rocketboy1313
Light bruising can be a sign of lots of fun.
plasticwrap
Take my kudos, this is true
Zaxares
It’s not really for me, but luckily I have a partner who enjoys getting lightly bruised! ;3
Catullus
Walky and Dina may not have much in common, but apparently they share a willingness to [change their clothes in elevators](https://www.dumbingofage.com/2012/comic/book-2/04-time-keeps-on-slippin/malewing/).
Catullus
Ah that’s right, that’s not how links are formatted here. Whoops.
Wagstaff
Now, for all you know, she might just be wearing the new shirt on top of her old one.
Needfuldoer
She just spins in place and instantly changes, like a Sim.
Roborat
And Wonder Woman.
Tim
First appearance of Hooper in Dumbiverse.
RassilonTDavros
PREPARE FOR ASS HOMPKEN!
…that sounds dirty
Clif
First appearance? Where?
RassilonTDavros
I didn’t actually see the connection to him either, I just went along with whatever joke Tim was making.
Not sure what that joke actually is, but I suppose Becky has done a good job of killing Dina’s lonely.
Yotomoe
I dunno I feel like priding yourself on accuracy for something that is so wildly alien to us that our understanding of it has evolved even during the time span of this comic. You’re basically just wildly theorizing about something you will never experience.
RacingTurtle
Not “wildly” theorizing! Reformulating hypotheses based on additional data! Being more accurate than you were able to be yesterday/last week/last year/last century is fun for Dina and people like her. Let them be.
Bicycle Bill
Some dinosaurs had rudimentary feathers? OK, recent fossils prove this.
Dinos ‘hompk”ed? Unless we find the Jurassic equivalent of a tape recorder (or Doc Brown perfects the flux capacitor and can somehow generate 1.21 jiggawatts), we’ll never know one way or the other.
I’m thinking the problem is priding yourself on accuracy for espousing something that can never be proved or disproved.
Doom Shepherd
But they have imaged the cranial cavities and deduced the dimensions of hearing organs and suck, so there’s a lot more data than there used to be.
Wagstaff
Now, we don’t necessarily need a whole time machine, although that would be nice. A chronovisor, letting us view the past without going there, would do just fine for this purpose.
Needfuldoer
Just the implications of such a device suggest it will never be invented, at least not in a form accessible to the masses.
(I know you’re laughing at me writing this, 43rd century historians.)
I am Nothing
I believe it’s the same for the colours of dinosaurs too, right? Sure, we can hypothesise they shared similar colours to their surroundings, but we might never actually know.
I don’t see why “Hompk!” is any less or more accurate than dinosaurs making sounds that resemble “Hello!” or “How do you do?”.
Hello!
milu
That’s usually but not 100% of the time the case. Some exceptional fossils preserve traces of pigmentation.
And then hypotheses about colour, while still mostly guesses, can get more sophisticated than “probably similar to their surroundings”: by observing common patterns in modern animals we can make reasonable assumptions about things like countershading and display features.
King Daniel
Yep! Exceptionally-well-preserved fossils are how we know that, for example, Microraptor‘s feathers were an iridescent black or that Anchiornis had a red crest on its head while the rest of its body was checkered black-and-white.

Moonie
So are you anytime you take an airplane somewhere new and trust that you *won’t* just fall off the edge of the flat earth ?
Yotomoe
I mean I think it’s way easier to prove the earth is spherical in 2021 than what a dinosaur sounded like.
crow
Wish someone would hompk at me ?
Clif
HOMPK!
Wish granted. — Don’t you wish you had held out for world peace and a billion dollars?
Mikey
Reminds me of when my brother used to wake me up when we were kids. He’d be literally jumping on me, going “Wake up wake up wake up wake up”.
Thanatos
My family weaponized pets. They would get the animals riled up and then set them loose in my bed. One dog that we had, if you touched her tail, she would run around in circles barking loudly trying to bite her tail off. And I mean that (semi) literally… she had something against tails. She also tried to bite her son’s tail off. Don’t worry, we prevented her from succeeding.
Mr D
My dad weaponized my baby sister. She was still on her crawling stage so he would put her on top of me and let her crawl up to my face and drool all over me until I woke up
Stephen Bierce
If you’re gonna do it–do it right
Right! Do it with ME!–WHAM! circa 1986
Zachary R
Waiting for Dina to wear feathers in the name of accuracy, and oops Becky’s into that too
Mr D
…So, in her pursuit of accuracy over everything else, I guess that Dina will have to get rid of her giant (FAKE) dinosaur plush, right?
RacingTurtle
Is that Amber’s Transforner collection on the dresser? It really provides a nice pop of color in the room.
I hope Amber somehow gets her new stepbrother into Transformers. A Joe who isn’t into Transformers feels like he’s missing something. Like a dorm room without a pop of color.
Wagstaff
So she took scientific accuracy over pragmatic purposes.
Let’s see just how this will turn out…. if not another earthquake.
BarerMender
I don’t laugh out loud often, but this one did it for me.
Bagge
I love amber’s way of just passively hanging on to see what kind of insanity will follow.
Wraithy2773
CANADA RAPTORS ARE FUCKING MAGESTIC! IF YOU’VE GOT A PROBLEM WITH CANADA RAPTORS YOU’VE GOT A PROBLEM WITH ME AND I SUGGEST YOU LET THAT ONE MARINATE!
Avstron
Yeah yeah but HOW DO YOU HEAR PEOPLE NAPPING
Either
1) Becky snores
2) super hearing from Dina?
Keulen
Is anyone else having problems with this DoA website loading slower than normal for no apparent reason today?
BarerMender
Yeah, a ran into problems leafing through the archive.
Rabisch
Perhaps is not what you say, but HOW you say it! And Dina is really good to say it♡♡.
DarkoNeko
HOMPK ?
…does Becky snore ?
Robert
“HOMPK” is definitely going to be the slogan for this decade.
Bicycle Bill
aaaaand now we need a stretch-goal magnet — about the same size as the Fudgeface magnet frpm Kickstarter #8 — of a word balloon reading “HOMPK” to go with the Raptor-Attack Dina magnet from KS #6.
woobie
HRM.
Rorschach had no superpowers, either.
Reltzik
For the record, when she hasn’t given permission for that kind of contact, you shouldn’t angrily goose your girlfriend.

there’s a name i haven’t heard in a very long time indeed
Pimellon
Is “strive” a noun? Could’ve sworn it was “strife”.
