Actually, I think she’s pretty good when it doesn’t directly concern her. She gives all the sanity away to advice for other people and has none left for herself.
Yeah, that’s how I figured it too. And I’m SUPER interested in where Willis is going to go with this storyline and all the other different possible ways the characters will shake out, all thrown together like this.
Though I still ship Amber and Mike INSANELY hard from Shortpacked. They were my favorite part of that comic (though Ultra Car and Malaya were close), and I read the entire damn thing based on that one Shortpacked tease Willis gave in DOA when Amazagirl pinned Mike to the wall.
I kinda saw it as since Ethan left Amber for dudes, it would be shitty if it seemed like she “turned” Danny gay too, even if that isn’t how it works.
Anxiety probably wouldn’t care if that’s how it works or not, and i get the feeling she’s not 100% over the fact that Ethan is gay and they had to stop dating. It would just make her feel bad in general.
Yeah they did, but with Danny and Ethan, it’d probably hurt more than with Ethan – because:
1) She has more or less accepted that Ethan is gay and just tried to be her bf in school for appearances or even to deny himself (or something similar, which is why Amber got so angry at him x Joyce, I can’t clearly remember)
2) Her relationship with Ethan is further in the past than Danny, so she’s probably not done sorting her feelings out on that one – she probably just shoved it into a corner of her mind/heart to not deal with (as she’s got enough on her plate as it is)
3) It would be kinda double the betrayal, because it would be ex-bf x ex-fb, not ex-bf and close friend (who is a manipulative asshole and whom she already had suspected to try and sleep with Ethan for whatever manipulative reason)
4) She doesn’t know Danny struggles with his sexual identity, and so after having had one BF ‘turn’ on her in the relationship…no that’s not right…ehm, lie to her(?) (these are AWFUL ways to express this, I know, but I just can’t think of a better phrasing…), it’d probably hurt a lot more if the second boyfriend, whom she had thought to be straight, would turn out bi PLUS she’d find out he was bi (which in itself would probably not be an issue) because he would have slept with her best friend and former ex-bf. Even though she cut ties to Danny, this would definitely hurt!
With Mike, she’ll just be angry at Ethan for knowing Mike and still going along.
Totally different reaction. This one will be more like “Ethan you idiot. You know he’s just doing this to mess with you.”
DannyxEthan hits her “I’m a monster. I don’t deserve them” weakness.
MikexEthan just triggers her protective response.
The reason why EthanxDanny isn’t happening is because they are both her ex-boyfriends and it is a known sore spot that her first ex-bf was gay and only truly interested in guys. If Danny proceeded to then date him, that would mean very soon after their break up, he recognised he too was interested in guys, which would hit that same sore spot again and trigger the ‘I’m not good enough for them’ line of thought. Plus, the break up is still fairly recent!
EthanxMike is different because she never had anything with Mike like that, she doesn’t care who sleeps with Mike, but she does care about making sure Ethan protects himself because she knows he tends to veer towards self-destruction.
Note that Amber has never said anything about it. Never suggested Danny shouldn’t date anyone or anything like that.
Ethan and Danny have agreed that they shouldn’t do such a thing, because they both care for Amber and don’t want to hurt her.
