          I’m inclined to read this as meaning that he does know, and is sufficiently upset about her beating him up that he is willing to get her killed as revenge. He is of course not willing to do it himself – too dangerous, and also modern forensics are such that he might not get away with it.

          And of course there’s the desirable side effect of no longer having to pay her tuition.

          This is the thought process of a full-on psychopath – or so I’ve heard – but what we know of Blaine is consistent with that interpretation.

      The secret service does not actually provide security for Congressional Representatives like Robin. That is the reason that AOC and the other members of the Squad have to pay a ton of money for private security every time Trump tweets about them and starts a new round of death threats.

      Actually, considering the current environment, Robin’s latest moves probably would have a bunch of death threats coming at her and she does not know because she no longer has an adequate staff to manage such things.

        She would still have congressional staff. It’s just campaign staff she’s replaced with Becky.

      TECHNICALLY it’s bail and not parole.

      But not going near his (alleged) victim is a likely condition of bail. I don’t know HOW likely it is, given that I’ve found it’s not a good idea to assume that the American justice system consistently conforms anything approaching sanity, but if any conditions beyond the normal “show up for court” were attached to his bail, that would certainly be one of them.

        I am quite sure that, even in a comic strip, conditions of Toe-Dad’s bond would include no unsupervised contact with Becky or entry onto the IU campus.  And when they say “supervised” they mean “with a law enforcement or court officer present”, not just in the company of h⃥i⃥s⃥ ⃥c⃥o⃥-⃥c⃥o⃥n⃥s⃥p⃥i⃥r⃥a⃥t⃥o⃥r⃥  the guy who bailed him out.

          And every last ducking one of them save Hank and Carol don’t have reasons to be on campus, and they only get ONE shot, and they have to get Becky without Joyce or Dina seeing it. if they try to kidnap her a THIRD time, they’ll have lost the element of surprise, Toedad goes into a little hole with no chance of bail, along with whomever made the kidnapping attempt.

      But the good news is, it looks like Indiana isn’t one of those states that charges you if you get an order of protection (aka restraining order).

      I wonder if one came with the charges by default. If so, and depending on the wording, he could get arrested if he’s caught anywhere near the IU campus. If Blaine has two cells of grey matter to rub together, he’s going to try and keep his new toe puppet from breaking the terms of his bond and getting arrested again as long as possible. Blaine himself isn’t supposed to be anywhere near the school either, but I don’t remember if that’s a police order or just campus security.

      Good thing there’s no reason for Becky to… leave… campus.

        Just campus security. And Blaine’s plan certainly involves Ross breaking the terms of his bond – so it just matters that Ross doesn’t run off on his own before playing his role in whatever Blaine’s master plan is.

        The party’s a possibility, but I think it’s too soon.

      Little reason to get one while he’s in jail with little prospect of making bail. It’s likely that the conditions of bail include not approaching his daughter. Of course, he’s as likely to violate that as he would a court order, but it’s more likely to land him back in jail if he does.

      It’s been decades since I’ve seen that movie, but if I remember right, the first and only person the anti-hero actually kills is a neo-Nazi who had told him “You’re just like me.” I think I remember him screaming “I’m not like you!!!”

      Yes, Foster is a person who’s gone over the edge – but not from religion. And he scares his family – but not from trying to control them. And in the end, Foster realizes that he’s “the bad guy” which Toedad could never ever do.

      Foster is a genuine anti-hero. Toedad is just a waste of meat.

I remember there was a part in the movie where he was going over old home movies of him spending time with his family and it showed that he was always on the edge and his family left him because he was always lashing out at them due to them not enjoying being around him like he wanted them to.

      Control. It’s all about control for him. He needs control over his daughter, over his ex-wife, over everything. He got emasculated by the courts, as he’s forced to pay for her tuition (something he said he didn’t think he’d have to do, assuming that she wasn’t going to go, so that was just attempted manipulation that backfired) And he’ll manipulate, intimidate, blackmail, and whatever to get control back.

      On the computer, the Google ad positions itself right in the center column. You close it and it whines; “Why?” and there’s no option to say “Because you’re covering the content.” Then the Google whine box covers the “submit” button in comments so you have to guess where that is. You simply can’t get the screen real estate back.

        That is a thing with some people, but it’s got nothing to do with Ross. At least not now. Let him in rot in jail for a decade and we’ll see if he can make an effort.

    You do know that as soon as Blaine leaves, Toedad is going to think something along the lines of, “It may be a deal with the devil, but that liar will get his thirty pieces of silver once this is all done.”

    He may be a crazy fanatic, but he’s not entirely stupid, and not going to trust anyone after what has happened, anyway, so I am sure he’s seen through Blaine in a heartbeat. Or at least isn’t going to trust him on general principles, since he now seems convinced that he’s the Only Real Christian around.

    He probably is assuming that Blaine is an actual demon there to tempt him, but that’s not as far off as a saner person might think.

        In panel two of that strip he does not recognize Amazi-girl as Amber. Previous commenters noted he probably has not figured it out.

        That leads to an interesting scenario. Toedad, at Blaine’s urging, is about to take out Amazi-girl when Blaine suddenly recognizes her. What happens next?

        In that scene he didn’t even recognize Amazi-Girl as Amazi-Girl. Just “Is that girl in a costume?”

        When talking to Asher recently he wanted Amber out of college and revenge on Amazi-Girl.

        He doesn’t have a clue.

          I can see that Asher conversation as working for either interpretation. Either he genuinely doesn’t know, or he’s setting up a situation where he will be shocked – SHOCKED! – to discover that the vigilante Asher just took out is his daughter.

          But it’s certainly not evidence that he does. As far as I can tell, there’s nothing that even hints at him knowing.

    It would be fantastic if Amazi-Girl snaps when fighting them, kills them, and the comic executes a no-warnings pivot into a horror/drama.

    Ethan drops out, obsessed with tracking down his best friend as Amazi-Girl goes underground ~ Dorothy takes on even more strain using her mad investigative skills to give him leads ~ Everyone else gradually forgets about the whole affair, while Ethan tracks down a Chicago mob boss who’s rumored to work with “an unusual enforcer”

    Failing that, though, it would be fantastic if Toedad had a restriction against getting close to his daughter and got immediately caught violating it, and if Asher decided to stop stooging for Blaine. And, I guess, if Blaine’s current girlfriend / wife managed to get herself and Faz out. Hell, best case scenario, they’re gone when he gets home from bailing out Toedad, and Blaine himself gets caught on campus next time he goes to Asher~

    But still: ripped, grim Ethan, loitering in a dark alleyway near a bar, waiting to see if a certain figure walks past…
