Cozy time

    1. The markings at the end make me feel like this is a sex pun of some sort, but Dunn’s Woods is a real place on that campus, apparently with very pretty trees. Consequently, I am unsure if this is literal or simply a very well researched and devilishly detailed debaucherous jest.

      1. Interestingly enough Indiana is as flat as it is because of an iceberg which shifted over the land thousands of years ago.

              1. Silly iceburgs; pretty sure it’s still under the sea, not floating on top of it. They’ll never find it at that rate.

                1. Thankfully – at this rate, they won’t be finding the HMS Hood, or the Bismark either.

                2. Ah, but are they that silly? Most of any given iceberg is also under the sea, where any given ‘berg is positioned to seek out its hated nemesis.

        1. Only the northern 3/5 or so was ground flat. You can see the rubbish that piled up at the glacier’s edge a bit south of Indianapolis, and by the time you get to Bloomington (or even Martinsville) it’s quite hilly. There’s downhill skiing in Paoli in the winter.

But yes, we’d have fairly low standards for mountainosity.

      2. Of course it would, it’s got the snow on top and everything. On top and below and inside and everywhere, but my point stands.

    1. There’s this giant sand dune at the coast near where I live. This monster dune is like 200+ ft tall, I kid you not.
And it’s sort of ended up being like a litmus test for relationships for me.
If someone is willing to climb that sucker with me, then I know they’re a keeper.

      1. All of the large ones are breeding grounds for shopping carts. As the snow melts, the carts return to the care of the herd.

    2. Oh yeah, giant snow piles! I remember those! It’s been a few years since we’ve had those around here.

    3. Huh. Something else to add to my folder of “shoulda figured it out sooner” alerts. I mean, yeah that tracks. I see a big pile of snow and the thought that goes through my head is that clothing is whoolg inadequate, and I hate it when my hands and feet are cold.

      1. I think Walky recognized the body language, accurately interpreted it, and communicated a gentle rejection of her advance while still offering support and companionship as a friend by choosing a hangout activity in a context that is both public and cold enough to force Dorothy to cover up.

      1. “And for Amber to provide narrative explanations… But it’s OK coz it won’t be weird because Joyce will be behind a curtain”

        1. This would definitely work for Walky – not sure what situation he wouldn’t end up in if free pizza was involved.

  1. _Their_ slippery shiny tryst will have to wait a bit. Willis needs time to finish the Joyce/Joe slippery shiny first.

    *significant glare at willis

    1. They’ve already had the slippery shiny treatment. Their relationship was the very first to get the slippery shiny treatment. Granted, this doesn’t mean they can’t have another.

    1. I was talking about how weird she was wearing her shirt collar tucked under the sweatervest with my husband re: yesterday’s strip, and it took a few minutes for me to realize ‘oh she’s trying to be sexy with the cleavage’

      1. ** I was talking with my husband about how Dorothy was wearing her shirt collar weirdly tucked under the sweatervest in yesterday’s strip, and it took a few minutes for me to realize ‘oh she’s trying to be sexy with the cleavage’

    1. She’s trying to do the sexy lip-bite thing. She has yet to understand that you can never TRY to do the sexy lip-bite thing; if you make the attempt consciously, it will fail.

    1. I think he noticed the cleavage and decided on an outside hangout because talking without getting distracted by bOObs seemed wise, given he knew she’d get a jacket (she does remain Dorothy after all), and he is trying to be a nice, ‘asponsable dude who’s considerate of the people around him, here…

      1. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me. David is a conflicted young man right now. I think he’s trying hard to be a good person (not sure his reasoning is quite sound here), and still disturbed by how things went with Lucy.

The fact that mum would find Dotty perfect probably doesn’t help.

    1. I think she is again trying to fuck him, and again, Walky obviously has feelings for her and is aware of what she’s doing, but due to the Lucy situation, is not receptive to that right now.

      1. I also think Walky still cares enough for Dorothy that he might not be down for just a casual hook up. Also, I think(I hope) he’s doing some self reflection after how things ended with Lucy, and IMO getting back with his ex right now proooobably wouldn’t be a very good idea.

        1. I have no idea why anyone thinks Dorothy wants a casual hook up. She wants to get back together with Walky again

        2. My interpretation is that Walky can tell there’s been an overt element of emotional desperation behind Dotty’s entreaties. She knows damn well how not classy it is to try to jump on your ex when they’re in the middle of an ambiguous, probably-breakup, Walky knows she knows. It seems like she’s been repeatedly trying to do the wrong thing as a way of, well… attacking her own self-worth.

    2. “Wanna get out of here?” is usually used to mean “wanna go somewhere else so we can have sex?”

Usually you’d be saying it when you’re at a bar or something and not when you’re already in their bedroom. Alas, Dorothy realised moments too late that her particular phrasing had left her open to a comedic smash-cut at her expense.

      1. Well, she probably meant, “Back to my room, where that creepy roommate of yours with boundary issues isn’t likely to make snarky comments.”

  2. That look in the third panel is very misleading. But at least I took her to her favorite mountain.

So far so good, let’s keep waiting for it to happen.

    1. *That look in the third panel is very misleading. But at least Walky invited her to his favorite mountain.

    1. The odd thing is, I never got the sense Walky is particularly attracted to Lucy. He may have realised it just too late, of course.

      1. Pretty much the reason they didn’t work out I think. Lucy was more like a… responsibility? Attempt at responsibility? Walky having this slight desire to grow up and have a mature relationship with Lucy trying to Fix Him? There wasn’t really a spark there or genuine attraction from Walky.

        1. I think there was. Or at least it was growing, but it was a spark compared to Lucy’s bonfire.

Interestingly, I think that Walky’s initial attraction has been less to each of his girlfriends in order. He was kind of overwhelmed by Dorothy even before they really talked. The attraction to Amber grew out of their garbage roof talks.

  3. I don’t know where this is going but there is potential building for the Walkerton twins to be fucking two people that dated each other at the same time. That would be a hilarious development.

  4. I do not think Walky has the head for anything that isn’t constantly thinking “why am I such a fuckup”

Sorry Dorothy but the king of garbage roof is out of commission this day to help you run away from what’s bothering you

  5. So how can you see what your life is worth
    Or where your value lies?
You can never see through the eyes of man
You must look at your life
Look at your life through snow pile eyes

  6. Okay Dorthy time to pull out the big guns, tell him “I want to ride you till you see stars” due to the sliding time scale of the comic he’s probably played BG3 by now, and will get the reference.

    1. I’m pretty sure panel 2 is her pulling out the big guns, as far as she’s comfortable doing (so that she can deny that’s what she was doing if someone calls her on it).

  7. Willis basically always collarbones. I enjoy the just-righr level of detail.

But freckled collarbones and her pose? That’s more than I could resist.

  8. Perfect place to cool off Dorothy. Maybe they can really talk and she can stop chasing Walky every time she gets a fantasy or feels unsure about how she really feels about her best friend.
