Nope. That’s what it said when it was first posted. I used to keep a timeline with strip summaries, and my description of that strip was, “Dorothy is a Kinsey 0, Becky is like 24, 25”.
… what happened to the other comments here?
There was like a whole other section in which I commented on how Becky called the date of this comic, but the entire thing is gone now.
Did an entire comment tree get Modded? And, if so, why? At least when I posted, it was just a link to the comic being referenced.
Yeah, my reply to this– which was just linking the comic, and was the second reply at 12:03am to do so– is now showing up for me as “awaiting moderation.” My guess is that too many people hit report, possibly while trying to click the link these comments offered.

That thing needs a confirmation step.
Or at least some distance from the Reply button. Right-align that shit.
My comment from 12:03 is now marked “awaiting moderation” on the machine I posted it from, and it and the entire comments branch below it are hidden on other machines. I can still see and even reply to the hidden comments from the machine where I made the original comment. I posted a reply to Bodmans after the branch was disappeared, but it doesn’t show up on other machines either.

Ah. Weird. Thanks yall!
I’m a little sad that my comment about Becky: 24, 25 with the brick joke occurring on the 2nd of April (4), 2025 ending up in the twilight zone. I thought that was pretty neat, and no one else seemed to be mentioning it.
i’m guessing joe told danny about the selfie? which is a little awkward but feels like shouldn’t be danny’s business even as an ex unless he just saw her and joyce together look closer than usual
DoA is his post college syndicated comic, its all flashbacks. Joyce is livid that he’s in comics even though her Leia Croft Expy is being made into a movie.
It all ends with Mike in a mental institution shaking a snow globe.
Dorothy had estimated herself to be near 0 on the Kinsey Scale, which is to say, quite straight, when talking to Danny about his budding bisexuality, something that is now a challenged perception.
An expert in flirting with being a disaster bisexual 😀
justin8448
I would assess Danny as being a rather calm and levelheaded bisexual, personally.
Arianod
Danny seems to be one of the least “disaster” characters in this iteration of the Walkyverse, actually.
Which makes me think: is there such a thing as a Disaster scale? Because I feel like that’d be way more useful and informative than the Kinsey scale where the DoA cast is concerned.
Kelibath
He’s doing great now, but he sure Dann’d things up with Ethan.
I love the idea of a Disaster Scale. But what should it go to?
Shadowsnail
It should be open-ended. There’s always a worse possible disaster.
When they talked about Danny bisexuality Dorothy said she was fully straight but that it might be subject to change. It seems she wasn’t as ready to accept that possibility as she thought.
It helps that i’ve read it more recently than ten years ago
But also I probably have brain problems
Steamweed
Why bother recalling what you had for breakfast yesterday? Or what the names are of those people you’ve met this week? You could be using those brain cells for _more_ webcomic goodness!
clif
Your argument is convincing.
DashWallkick
I legit got tired of getting facts wrong in this comic so I went back to the beginning and read it all again recently. It helps to remember stuff like this, or when Joyce swore and Joe handed her a $20, because Willis loves himself a brick joke.
Steamweed
The whole dang thing? How long did that take? Three weeks?
As of today, there are 5472 posts by Willis, including comics and posts for patreon and other special events, thus establishing an upper limit for the number of strips
assuming each strip takes at the very most a minute to read, that’s at the most 90 hours of total read time, or ~4 days total time taken
Frequent rereads and autism. I can’t remember most of my family birthdays but I sure can recall specific plot point in a thousand strip long comic!
Yumi
I don’t do much in the way of rereads, but some points– like this one– do come up in the comment section with some regularity, which helps. But yeah, the autism is doing a lot, too.
Sirksome
This moment comes up a lot in discussion too. Basically every time Joyce and Dorothy are together lately. A few DoA highlights are constantly in rotation.
Erica
It’s so funny you say that cuz after I commented I was like “well this comic does have a big autistic following so”
I actually have that specific strip open in a tab because I’ve had to quote it at people who were mis-citing it to “prove” that Dorothy is definitely totally always and forever 100% straight no takebacks so many times lately.
Anyway, if she had claimed to be “definitely totally always and forever 100% straight no takebacks”, how would that prove she hadn’t been mistaken? See also the self-described normal straight Jennifer“you’re allowed to bang, like, once”Billingsworth.
thejeff
I may be one of those people, since I’ve often said I’d take a claim like Dorothy’s more seriously than someone saying they were “definitely totally always and forever 100% straight no takebacks”
A week or so ago, I watched about two seconds of the opening credits for the second Charlie’s Angels movie and immediately recognized it. I hadn’t seen it in at least a decade, there weren’t any characters on screen at all, let alone named characters, and I didn’t recognize any names in the credits themselves. Just two seconds of a close-up of a dirty bar with some background noise and I was like “Oh yeah, Charlie’s Angels, I like that movie.”
On the other hand, I have autism-brain that’s fixated on media and pop culture, and have trouble with most things outside of those areas. So I’m pretty far from the norm.

This one?

Nine years, eleven months, holy shit.

But the comic moves slower so we’re like in the second half of the same school year.

Willis out here plotting like Eiichiro Oda

And now I’ve re-read from there to here.
What sticks out, ironically, is Walky’s latent bisexuality. I knew it was there. I forgot it was so routine.

A mere 119 months ago.

Ahh. Yes, that did help. Thanks!
Rose by Any other Name
… did… did Becky’s estimate just call the date of this comic?
Becky: “Twenty four, twenty five?”
Today 4 / 2 / 25
*Mind Blown*
Decidedly Orthogonal
Bloody freedom formats. Give me ISO8601 or give me death!
MK15
2.4.(20)25 is very much a non-“Freedom” format. Murica considers that February, unlike Europe/elsewhere where that’s 2 April.
But yes, YYYYMMDD all the things!
Bodmans
Maybe Willis stealth-edited it.
Also, inferior date format, get out.

Man, time flies. And Willis’ lettering gets markedly better (not that I ever thought it was bad at the time, but clear improvement).
Leadsynth
I’m pretty sure all of DoA has used the two fonts that Willis had made from his handwriting. It looks to me like the first font was used through Book 5, and he switched to the second, neater-looking font starting with Book 6 and this strip, https://www.dumbingofage.com/2015/comic/book-6/01-to-those-whod-ground-me/wakeupcall/

It’s in the thread below this, but I guess it can’t hurt to add it here as well: https://www.dumbingofage.com/2015/comic/book-5/03-the-butterflies-fly-away/kinsey/

Dorothy is realizing she’s not as straight as she once thought, and Danny is one of the local bisexuality experts.
