          I have being the first to post on a few occasions mainly because the people who normally posted first has technical issues with their servers which allowed me to be the first one but ever since the delay to the new comic showing up was increased from 00:01 New York Time to 00:02 New York, I haven’t been able to do any better than 3rd post.

          It should be standard procedure. Unfortunately, I doubt that’s the case. Dina may have learned of roofies from other overheard conversations. With everything she overhears from behind doors, and when people forget she’s there, one can never know what secret information she might have gathered over time. She could really use that to her advantage one of these days.

          Of course, there’s also TV, and the internet.

      If by unrequited love, you mean where your love is romantic, but the object of your affection returns only non-romantic feelings, but still cares deeply about you, as is the case here, no, it’s really not like getting stabbed. It’s not really that bad. Though sleeping next to the object of your affection could be stir up some unpleasant feelings, I would guess; and Becky is being smart here.

          The story is not nearly as exciting as what I’ve shared implies.

        The last time I was in that situation, it was like everyone expected me to feel far worse than I actually did. I wasn’t exactly cheerful, but more concerned with salvaging some kind of friendship from the whole mess than feeling all hurt and betrayed.

      My objection to the simile is not so much the level of pain as it casts the person who doesn’t share your feelings as consciously doing something to hurt you, which is not the case.

    I think Sarah has the right to savor this particular ‘being right’ moment. She tried to tell Joyce that Joyce was not doing Becky any favors sleeping with her and insisting she stay right under her thumb.
    Joyce crossed over the line so far with her attack on Sarah over this subject, that if their friendship ever gets back to normal it will be one of Joyce’s miracles.

    Sarah is the modern day Cassandra: always tells the truth and no one believes her. So yeah, let her briefly enjoy being right.

    I do like how Becky is flat out honest.

        She literally said she wanted Becky to “find a better place to live,” ie a non-homeless alternative to the current, emotionally not great living situation. Considering how nobody else so far seemed to be thinking much about what to do with Becky long-term *or* how she’s being affected by the awkward sleeping arrangements in the short-term, Sarah is being more proactive about helping Becky than anyone, really.

    In fairness to Sarah, she’s right quite a lot. It’s just that she’s so naturally acidic and unpleasant in her way of expressing herself that people don’t listen to her.

        I dunno, when you’re just trying to figure relationships out, you don’t want to accidentally put your foot into anything serious. A rebound is a good first start – you’re helping someone process their feelings, learning from a more experienced partner, and both just having fun.

          Maybe the confluence of Malaya’s roomie deciding to leave the room to give the lovebirds some privacy, Amazi-Girl having some aggravation to work off and Sal wandering around feeling lonely might lead to a curious confluence of events.

          I’m kind of wondering what Danny’s weird grin from a preview panel for the near future might have been about and watching Amber and Sal save the day together might be it. He is a comic book geek, after all. Amazing team-ups are part of the scene!

        Oddly enough, I don’t think Sal would care too much. If anything, her ‘I stand up for the little guy in the face of The Man’ conceit would actually impel her to abet this little bit of facility abuse.

        This is a very serious moment for Joyce and Becky. This is not the fucking time for “I told you so”.

          Given how much time people spend telling Sarah that she’s a horrible person and that all her decisions are wrong, I can honestly see how she would want to see firsthand confimation that, yes, the impression she acted under WAS right.

          She’s not saying “I told you so” to Joyce and Becky, or turning the moment to make everyone focus on how she’s right. She’s saying it as a quiet aside to Dina, asking her not to distract her because she wants to see how this unfolds. I don’t really see how that makes her an asshole. I also don’t really see why everyone thinks Sarah is so much more acidic than anyone else in this series – certainly most of the male characters have been equally sarcastic at times, with less justification.

          She’s not just waiting to see it unfold, she’s doing that because she wants to prove she was right to Joyce. If this were something lighthearted it would just be mildly douchey, but the very real pain Becky is going through right now should not be used so Sarah can get one over Joyce, even just to herself.

          As for the male characters, and ignoring Mike because that is genuinely a whole different can of worms, Ethan rarely acts that sarcastic or rude, and Walky and especially Danny get criticized fairly often. I don’t see how this is something unique to Sarah.

          I’d agree with you if I thought she was going to rub Joyce’s face in it later – but I really can’t see Sarah doing that, or even saying anything to Joyce about it later on. I don’t think she has a history of doing that – despite what her in-comic enemies think, she hasn’t shown herself to be malicious. My comment about the male characters was only in relation to the way that her acidity apparently gets in the way of people listening to her – I just find it odd that nobody in-comic has a problem listening to the viewpoints of other, equally sarcastic male characters.

          I don’t think she’ll rub it in Joyce’s face (Sarah likes heckling her but she does care about her a lot) but that doesn’t mean taking pride in witnessing her “victory” is any less crappy.

          I won’t say she’s actively malicious, certainly not how Raidah describes, but she’s also been pretty volatile at times for no real reason to some of the other cast members. Of course, she’s also capable of tremendous acts of love and a lot of her issues are rooted in her difficulty with expressing herself to other people.

          In regards to her acidity, that’s probably why people have difficulty dealing with her or listening to her advice. Has any other male character consistently acted as volatile as Sarah? I think they all have their moments where they act genuinely hurtful, but I don’t think it’s as ingrained as it is for Sarah.

          This is a pivotal moment. Even if Sarah said nothing, she would still quietly watch without interfering. Joyce might need her, or Joyce and Becky might need privacy. We won’t know until the next strip but it seems reasonable for Sarah to stay close by for now.

          As for her comment to Dina, it was said quietly,just between the two of them. It’s not much different that if she had said, ‘I knew this was going to happen.”

          Despite how it sounded, Sarah is worried about Joyce. She’s Joyce’s “Big Sister” and so she is looking after her.

          Well, what do you WANT her to do then? There is literally nothing at all Sarah can do at this particular moment to make anything better for either of these girls. Don’t forget, Becky made a very hurtful comment some strips ago to Sarah, with knowledge that Sarah put into her hands, because she TRUSTED her. God forbid if she says some mean shit to herself and it doesn’t actually affect the outcome of anything. The people who don’t have those kinds of spiteful thoughts occasionally, they’re the weird ones, and Sarah’s got more reason for it than most.

          As for the moment you’re referring to between Joyce and Sarah, if I’m expected to forgive Sarah’s constant crabby, unlikeable, bitter behaviour, should I seriously not extend the same to Joyce the first time she’s ever said anything hurtful to her, as a direct result of Sarah offering advice in the most blunt, hurtful way possible?

          I like Sarah a fair bit. She’s incredibly interesting and complex, and being a nice person isn’t necessary to being a good character, but I don’t think it’s irrational of me not to squee in delight when she’s acting like an asshole.

    The point that I think is easy to miss is that Joyce is so close to Becky that she considers her as good as a sister. That’s a considerable level of emotional intimacy and I wouldn’t blame her for not wanting to lose it. It would be entirely understandable if she became embittered over feeling that she has to put emotional and behavioural walls between her and Becky because of her sexuality.

    On an unrelated note, It’s Pregnancy! is kinda weird for me to read considering Joyce and Walky look exactly the same as teenagers as they do in their mid thirties.
