When neediness and naivete are all that’re keeping you from being a completely bland character, you’ve really not got much of a leg to stand on. Although I guess you could turn this sincere effort by Joe to help him into a slashy hurt/comfort fic, after Joe realizes that the only way he’s going to get Danny anyone to bone in order to forget his problems is to offer up himself, but even then, I pretty well see Joe/Danny as unrequited from Danny’s side.

I’ll read this comic regardless, and I know others will too, but it’s got to be killing Willis that the two characters he’s currently focusing on are the least popular, at least according to his own poll.
Now, if Shortpacked! Mike were Sarah in this position, I’d expect him (her?) to reply with ‘You know, at first I was going to turn you down’ and then grab Danny and start kissing. Using full-tongue action, of course.

He’s just not that interesting… he’s good as a main character, as he’s more of a Johnny Everyman, but… he’s not fun to write in pairings.
At least that’s my two cents. Plus his make-over kind of made him into Male!Joyce1.5 or something.
