Very Good Karma
Well, Amazi-Girl couldn’t seriously break bones… otherwise she’d be in a cast for /years/ and /years/, and I don’t think Willis could give up her having action adventures for that long.
Also, there’s no trucks in this scene, so everyone is perfectly safe.

Bones don’t generally take years to heal, so far as I know. I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic there or not.
Just Saying
In comic-time. It takes years to get through the six weeks of healing and however long of recovery.
Opus the Poet
We have just reached week 7 (?) in comic time 5 years later in real world time

Someone posted the link comic of Becky’s arrival. It was ONE YEAR AGO! Amazing!
smashman42
Holy crap?! Does time fly or what?
TheNinthShader
Why is there only Amazi-girl tag, why not a ‘random person in a car’ tag
Clif
Sweetheart of reclusive artist who creates Dexter and Monkey Master is too big to fit on a tag.
You know, I said yesterday “And you know what? She knowingly put her life on the line going up against someone she knew full well was armed and dangerous. Not for cash or fame or out of any belief she was magically invulnerable, but simply because someone needed help. And her hard acquired skills almost got her into position where she could have done something. If Amber died right now, she still would have been awesome.”
I wasn’t effusive enough.
PlutoniumBoss
Indeed. This is what makes a superhero. The will to put everything you’ve got on the line to do what’s right. Amazi-Girl was a hero before, but as of this moment, she is a superhero.
Benvincible
I think Paranatural has him beat. That comic has been running since 2011 and hasn’t even gotten through a week.
Chris
The Manson of E -might- be on its third day and it’s been around since July 2003.
Boojum
Well that beats Grrlpower, so far anyway, going since 2010 and on Day 2.
WaytoomanyUIDs
And I thought Freefall held the record. going since 1998 and covered about 3 weeks.
John
Grrl Power is worse than that; it’s on Day 2 of a flashback to several months before it began. So it’s made negative progress.
TheNinthShader
+1 internet for all you guys who read many comics at one time.
Roborat
I would nominate Between Failures as well. It took 300 episodes to cover one day.
Palamdrone
Camp Sherwood is on day 2 and it started about 8 years ago.
John
Not even. It’s Monday of Week 5. Becky’s arrival, a year ago in real-world time, was only four days ago in the Dumbiverse.
heyitsthatoneguy
As foretold by 2 Peter 3:8, amen. Willis is actually God, apparently.
Bicycle Bill
Or Hebrews 13:8 — “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.”
Disloyal Subject
I didn’t even think of that. This is why I shouldn’t comment after midnight.
Dante
I’m guessing they more mean at the pace the story itself actually moves. All things considered, it really hasn’t been all THAT long in-comic since it started.
Ruthful
As someone pointed out in yesterday’s comic, one year has passed since Becky arrived. Becky’s arrival, in-universe, was four days ago.
C Baker
Has it really been a year!?
C Baker
Each year in our time is about one week in their time.
Deanatay
Are they even in October, yet? Man, I wanna see these people dress up for Halloween!
DinaWho
Next chapter will be the first one set in October.
Ragingagnostic
Amazi-Girl is in costume AND in character. That’s good enough for me.
TheNinthShader
Not even a week, 3 days maybe
CaptainBatson
Four days. Becky arrived on Thursday and it’s Monday now.
ANeM
I was really expecting him to put Amber in a wheelchair, forcing the new Badass Joyce to take up the mantle of Amazi-Girl while Amber acts as her Oracle.
Doctor_Who
If that lady in the car didn’t just put “Holding Out for a Hero” on her stereo, she’s doing this wrong.

This comic strip right here is the very definition of what a hero is.
Nono
Poppa Boo
My god, this strip left Nono speechless.
Ellen
I… I think my suspension of disbelief just snapped.
Not that it’s a bad thing. It’s just a reminder to me that we’re in this fictional universe containing Amazi-girl and her whole history of unbelievable antics. 🙂
Besides, these nightly updates have been giving me uncomfortable adrenaline highs lately. I can relax a little better now since its easier to remember this is all a fictional universe.
Onihikage
It’s not that unbelievable, the other car was moving at about the same speed as the car Amazi-girl was hanging onto, and the previous panel showed that car swerving and braking. Honestly, given the buildup, I’m surprised she even hit that car at all, let alone hard enough to crack the windshield.
I’m right there with you on the adrenaline highs, though. God, every time I see an update in my feeds… this comic will make me a junkie yet.
Ellen
It’s not the lack of incapacitation, it’s the characters’ responses… Amber’s mental (not physical) ability to not only get up from that impact but to spring right back into action in a car chase straight out of an action movie. And the car driver’s willingness to be on board with this and make a split second decision with the outcome seen here.
So no, the lack of injury here isn’t unbelievable, but it just kind of acted as a small reminder that Amazi-girl and her entire action-hero skillset are fictional. Not at all inconsistent with what else we’ve seem in the comic, mind! Simply a soft reminder that this is, in the end, a comic. 🙂
But it is one hell of a ride.
Marie
It’s not exactly ability though, if anything I’d call it a mental inability to let herself breathe.
Chris
… the fact that the driver can hear anything AG said.
TheNinthShader
Well I believe there is a rather large crack or hole in the windshield..
Itama
nah, thats tempered safety glass. if she managed to hit it hard enough to create that kind of hole, its more likely the whole thing would just disintegrate into tiny blunt beads of glass.
Guairdean Beatha
The windshield might break or shatter, but they’re made to hold together. Side windows shatter into thousands of tiny, smooth, glass pebbles that are relatively safe. Windshields hold together. Here’s a good article explaining it all. http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/windshield-history.cfm
CaptainBatson
Oh, no, she’s clearly injured. She just can’t allow herself to give in to the injury at the moment. If she does, she’ll fail, and she can’t let herself fail. Not again.
Spiny Creature
Nah, it’s unbelievable that someone who just had a stranger fly into their windshield would do anything other than stop.
Speaking as a driver who values not dying and not killing other people, if someone flies into my windshield and cracks it, it doesn’t matter if they give me a speech as eloquent as the Gettysburg Address – I’m not speeding up for them.
Ellen
Yes, this too.
Yet like I said, this is a fictional comic and the characters are allowed to behave in improbable ways for the sake of the story. I don’t mind! If anything, the last few comics before this one were really heavy-hitting re. the realism of Terrible Parents existing and I was getting waayyyy caught up in concern for the characters. This update actually let’s me breathe a little!
Spencer
Yeah, it is pretty silly. The best thing about Amazi-Girl was that she was a crazy fantasy concept interacting with a real world of reasonable actions and consequences, but here it’s just way over the top.
This strip here honestly feels like something out of Die Hard.
TheLurkerAbove
I’ve seen a fellow student years ago get knocked by a van and somehow still walk, while the van had a dent roughly his body shape. Didn’t even suffer a concussion.
However I’d probably hit my brakes and get out, that’s kinda the procedure in an accident, since you don’t want to do a hit-and-run (unless you’re a pyschopath or something)!
Deanatay
Hey, if you’re gonna suspend your disbelief, you might as well suspend it from a nylon wire strung between the Two Towers.

Then this would be the second time some random chick threw themselves in front of her vehicle. Poor car lady.
