    As someone who’s barely skimmed any pre-Short packed! Willis comics, seeing people react to “Anti-Joyce” is interesting. It’s almost sort of alienating, being out of the loop, but not in an inherently bad way. The callback does work in a vacuum (it’s not exactly an earth shattering concept), which is always a plus.

          I suppose it depends…was anti Joyce more an *opposite* mirror universe joyce? Or more like the episode where Kirk gets split in 2 by the transporter so one has his reason and calm while the other has his aggression and passion. (interpreted initially as “positive” and “negative” traits until he realizes he needs both to function as a balanced person).

          Or is anti joyce literally just the *opposite* of prime Joyce?

          It’s been a looong time since I last read IW! So I can’t remember which context applied…

          But yeah that would mean very different outcomes for other anti characters! Mirror Walky would be generally Walky being himself but evil. Split Walky would be…maybe one completely lazy and incompetent side and the other his intelligence and wit? And then literal Opposite Walky would be sharply dressed and super focused but not as clever or goofy maybe?

          I was just describing things that would be amusing to me, but if you wanna analyze it seriously…
          Anti-Joyce is a personality that was created by repression and then given form. She contains everything Joyce feels but disassociates from her identity. Along those lines, we already met DOA’s Anti-Joe when he was holding up that drawing and confessing his tender feelings, the opposite of his “horny sex-monster with a big callus for a heart” identity. Walky’s identity is very Peter Pan-ish, the eternal child who’d rather run and play than face things that make him uncomfortable. So maybe Anti-Walky is an agitated chain smoker who’s always worried about the future.
