          I think in real life it makes logical sense to not jump to conclusions in this span of time, but in comics it also makes sense to see if they’d want to bang based on stuff like “would this be an interesting plot twist” or “does this look like how the creator has set up couples in the past”

While she and Jason are more on a level. Which I think is what Willis is going for here. I definitely sense more chemistry between the two of them and ship it.

    I feel I should mention that even though technically Jason got fired for boffing a student he really got fired because Penny lied about him boffing a student. It’s just a coincidence she was right. I only bring this up because Penny is unambiguously awful and I need people to remember that if she ever shows up again. Jason did deserve to be fired though.

        Yeah but that scene didn’t really make any sense. Supposedly he would have had to “mount a counterargument with the affected student”. First of all, what does that even mean. Are you just supposed to Bill Clinton it up and say “I did not have sexual relations with that woman!”? But anyway, if Penny was just making stuff up, didn’t really know it was Sal, then who is the affected student supposed to be?

          I think in that situation, since Penny made a claim with no proof, Jason could’ve denied it, but since he did actually sleep with a student he just chose not to out of good conscience. Either that or Penny is really good at guessing based on the one time she saw Sal and Jason together. She even asked if they were going to bang:

        …honestly, despite the lack of sci-fi elements in DoA, I kinda like to imagine that Alan is still an Alien in this universe. Just because it’s funny to me. I’m in love with the idea that he’s the only Alien in the universe, and that it makes no sense for him to be an Alien or to be there, but there he is anyway. For the lulz.

        The question is, how much tolerance does she have left? She’s (hopefully) abstained or severely cut back for weeks, and she’s on medication. I don’t think a couple shots will put her flat on her back unless she’s become a Walky-class lightweight, but the fact that she feels like she has to drink to justify dating is worrhing.

      Not that cheating on your spouse is on the same level as kidnapping your daughter or attempting to murder her friends, but still. Cheating ain’t cool.

(it would also free them from regional favouritism / not being liked by a particular region, because we hate shelbyville)

        Maybe it’s from watching too many Canadian YouTubers, or beause I live in New England, but I don’t automatically pick out an accent as specifically “Canadian” unless they’re Quebecois or hamming up those stereotypical patterns like you hear from Wisconsin don’cha know.

        Then again, I’m used to hearing everyone talk like Mahk Wahlberg so take that as you may.

      I don’t think it would be noticeable unless she was Quebecois (in which case they’d probably guess France) or very Newfie (or, I suppose, very intentionally talking with a lot of canadian intonations and slang). Otherwise most Canadian accents, while not identical across the country, are pretty equivalent to one american accent or another.

        Atlantic Canadian accents (Acadian, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and NB/PEI) generally are noticeable to both Canadians and Americans unless the person is able to code switch to a middle Canada accent. When I speak with my native accent (mainly rural NS with a dash of German and Metis) people have a hard time placing where I am from exactly but can tell right away I am Canadian. I can and do code switch to a more Central Canadian accent for work because it’s easier to get taken seriously in my profession if I don’t sound like a hick from the back of beyond.

      Ruth’s been in the states a lot longer. Jason moved here for grad school a few years ago at most. Ruth half grew up here.

        Only since 16 or so. Longer, but most of her growing up was done in Canada.
        Though, with her mother at least being American, she might not have picked up as much of an accent as she otherwise would have.

      They’re not that identical – other than in the briefest summary version. Ruth wasn’t actually fired. Ruth & Jennifer was an actual relationship, not just sex for grades. Jason’s not an orphan. Clint’s just an abuser not a supervillain.

      If you’re talking about Joyce’s dad, his ability to switch churches, and recognize the faults of his faith, pretty strongly indicates that he’s not at the ‘end’ of the faith spectrum. If the other is Mr. Dina, well, there’s not a /lot/ of travel on the atheist side of things, and he really doesn’t come across as extreme. Generally if you don’t have faith, you just don’t, and it ceases to be something you consider much. Which is not to say that there aren’t radical atheists. They make usefully energizing electrodes for campaiging for the seperation of church and state.

      Regardless of who you meant though, I find radicals of any sort tend to make pretty shit parents. Their belief in whatever they’ve radicalized to, tends to make them prioritize their ‘mission’ over their children’s interests, and/or try and indoctrinate their children into their world-view. I kinda suspect I took your meaning of ‘ends’ further than you meant though.
