The only thing that MIGHT connect the buildings would be underground steam pipes left over from the days when there was a central power plant on campus providing heat to the various buildings. DEFINITELY not suitable for transit between buildings.
And even then, they would probably only connect to the oldest buildings on campus.
On my campus (MIT), back in the 70s, I wandered around via the steam tunnels. Of course we weren’t supposed to, and you did need to keep away from the steam pipes because they were _hot_, but the tunnels did work.

Back then, I could not get good cell service there and I always had trouble finding my friend’s place, so I would stop at the McDonald’s nearby and use (get ready for this) THE PAY PHONE OUTSIDE to call him and he would drive out and lead me back to his place (eventually, I drew a map – but then he moved, damn it!). On this particular day, the thermometer at the bank across the street from the McDonald’s read -5 F. And there was a 20 mph steady wind blowing. In order to dial the phone I had to take off my gloves and within 15 seconds my right hand felt like I already had frostbite. Well, while I am talking to Matt (my friend), I see two teenage girls and two teenage boys walk out of the McDonald’s. The girls were wearing dresses (at least they had leggings on) and the boys were wearing tee shirts and jams……NONE OF THEM HAD ANY WINTER GEAR ON. When I got back to Matt’s I told him about what I saw and his response was “Mainers….meh”.

Because it’s hard to draw I think? Willis drew Joyce in plaid for one storyline and I remember them saying it was really hard to keep drawing her like that.

Willis draws the plaid patterns by hand, some artists just use the fill tool and it looks really awkward on sleeves that are moving around.
