Legs

    1. Wow this is amazing great work. By the way, the horrified look of agony on the turtle’s face when you eat him is just … well let’s say this nightmare might be self-replicating.

    2. I think you may have linked the wrong strip, unless Walky Becoming Hot is a Christian Nightmare.
      I mean, it might be.
      Never was religious.

    3. I really enjoy the animations and soundscape. it’s nice and simple, with a little bit of that old-school educational CD-ROM flair.

    4. Did I mention the game even works on mobile devices!

This ain’t your granny’s flash game!

Oh and by the way if you haven’t already made a Newgrounds account, please do so and vote my game in so it doesn’t get blammed!

Thanks in advance for playing! ?

Imma treat myself to a little Toonami!

          1. Huh. Was half-expecting it to still not work due to some obscure phone-model issue, like everything else I try with this thing. But no, it totally works. Fast fix!

      1. My personal best was 207, and I would have gotten higher, but the game stopped giving me non-touching food. Not sure what I was supposed to do at that point. Ah well – beautiful (and often disgusting) game – amazing work! Loved it! The art in particular was fantastic!

    5. awww that is very cool Wellerman!!! you truly brought us sugar and tea and rum with this one <3

(i didn't get your email in time before bed last night, i signed off right after leaving my last comment, but anyway i would've had no notes =)

    6. Fantastic game, Wellerman! I loved it!
How did you make, if I may ask you?

A tip for people playing it mobile: the tap on screen may be a little more longer if fast tap are not working.

  1. Excellent decision Joyce, sundays are for sleeping in and hiding from the world. Now if only we knew where your pants are.

      1. Sunday is for sunning.
        Monday is for mooning.
        Tuesday is for tooting.
        Wednesday is for wedding.
        Thursday is for thumping.
        Friday is for frying.
        And Saturday is for sating.

  2. Is Joyce depressed? Usually, when Sarah is happy its because another character (particularly Joyce) is very much not and the universe requires homeostasis.

          1. Has that been established?

She lost her faith months ago and we know she skipped church bat least the once back then, but I’d think she’d have had to have this confrontation with Becky back then if she hadn’t been going at all. Especially when she was staying with Becky over the break.

    1. Yeah this makes this strip confusing. It’s been established in a previous arc that when Joyce is depressed, the balance of the universe shifts and Sarah becomes the uppitiest person on Earth. However, Joyce appears to be less depressed and more learning how to chill out. So is that a smile of universal imbalance or a smile of “my roommate is learning how to be like me?”

      1. I think it’s because maintaining balance is less a fundamental aspect of the universe, and more a quirk of Sarah’s subconscious. Couldn’t that make the law vulnerable to misinterpretation on her part? Perhaps believing that Joyce is unhappy makes Sarah happy even if it happens that Joyce isn’t truly unhappy.

    2. I’d say she is to a degree, that’s the point. She’s not feeling happy so she’s going to go back to sleep. The conversation with Walky and taking off her pants didn’t exactly fix things. It’s not the best coping mechanism but she doesn’t seem to be TOO heavy into depression.

  3. Also, I don’t know if anyone else has experience for sleeping for literal days but it isn’t as awesome or as refreshing as people make jt out to be.

Last time I slept for days, I tried getting out of bed when I woke up and immediately fell down. Not fun.

    1. Not quite that long but I have definitely had periods where I was sleeping like sixteen hours in a single day and it is not refreshing. Granted, if so I’m probably acutely ill, but you wake up and then two hours later you’re sleepy again and everything aches… not recommended.

    2. Agreed. Due to my medical condition, sometimes I end up sleeping off and on for a week. My record is 35 hours straight. The weirdest side effect to me is that it can actually GIVE you a headache/migraine even if you don’t have sleep apnea due to the pressure on your head pressing into the mattress/pillow.

Btw, I think the best tip I can give is keep refillable water bottle and a cup by the bed (cut back on how often I got dehydrated because I could chug water before I was back out and it was also a reminder). Also, having something to put between your knees and arms while sleeping on your side can help you avoid sore shoulders, hips, and knees.

    3. Sleeping for longer than I intended (and I’ve never even slept for a whole day) makes me feel disoriented. And hungry/thirsty since you can’t really eat or drink water while sleeping.

    4. A tumblr post once said that sleep is sort of like emptying your brain of junk but you can’t get more empty than empty itself. So you can’t exactly pay a sleep debt forward. It’s not like sleeping for two days straight means you can go a week without sleep afterwards for instance.

Though given what I’m now hearing maybe it can get to a point where the bucket is scraping at the sides of your brain if you do sleep too long.

      1. awwww yeah it’s really lovely. i love it. thank you for doing this <3

also, the video description has all the info and all the links in a very satisfying way lol =D

    1. Willis has been infected.
From now on, every strip will have at least two panels focusing on Joyce’s bare, lovingly shaded legs.

      1. Oh god don’t even joke about that. I follow Willis on twitter and every time I see a 9 Chickweed Lane strip I’m viscerally repulsed

    2. Everyone has been predicting Joyce/Dorothy lesbian action, but this is the clue to the swerve that it’s actually going to be Joyce/Sarah.

  4. First of all, I’m impressed that the strip titled “Legs” is completely devoid of them.

Second of all, there sure are a lot of comic-inspired creative projects comin’ out lately. Might be time to dust off an old project, if I can manage the ADHD brain long enough.

      1. The one I had in mind started in like the spring of 2019 and is severely NSFW. The other one got as far as a hallway map and a few portraits.

        1. RPG Maker I presume?

Yeah it took really long in my case ’cause shit kept getting in the way, so it was more of an on-off kind of thing. If done with any kind of real commitment and I actually knew what I was doing with the graphical direction (which took up the OVERWHELMING majority of the time), it would have probably taken less than three months.

  5. If I were attempting to take this strip seriously I might have thoughts about Sarah being happy only when Joyce is sad and that maybe not being a good thing for the dynamic.

But I’m gonna take it serious in a magical way and say that there must always be someone carrying the pure happiness energy of Joyce for if it isn’t held by anyone then the marycrons will steal it for there evil plans

Can Joyce and the rest of the battledumbs defend the pure happiness energy? Find out after these messages!

      1. I had a whole joke with a link to power rangers but couldn’t post for some reason. Just imagine a next time on power rangers video about a trumpet monster

  6. Watch that smile disappear when Liz stops in as she waits for her ride to show up. That bit hasn’t been fully mined for comedy gold yet.

  7. Some say Yay, And some say Nay,
But I take this to be my prize,
With my eyes I saw, so I am here to say:
Sarah’s smile Grew three times that day.

    1. I don’t know about that.  I didn’t roll out of bed until almost 1;00 pm CST today.
Of course, I stayed up until almost 6:00 am CST watching crap on TV, so that might have been a factor….

  8. I feel like whether or not Sarah MEANS to be happy about this turn of events, it’s not…great… for Joyce to see Sarah getting so gleeful about a situation where Joyce’s likely about the loss of her regular schedule and community of church. She’s already feeling isolated and turned-away from friends she’d connected to through her religion, so this feels… like it’d be upsetting. Maybe I’m projecting because I’D be upset if I were Joyce. Maybe I’m just upset. I dunno.

    1. Especially since Joyce could take it less as Sarah being happy that she won’t have to be woken up early on Sundays / Joyce is giving in to her strict schedule, and more as ‘ah, I guess Sarah doesn’t really want me around talking to her if she’s happy I’ll just be, sleeping”.

You might argue that seems like a silly, too-sensitive interpretation of this, but 1. Joyce’s head-space doesn’t seem the greatest, and 2. Shut your fuck up

  9. Usually I’m all into Sleeping Through the Weekend, but her expression and Sarah’s reactions all indicates that Joyce is doing it cause she’s in a bad funk. I wonder if it’s because she’s still upset about the whole thing with Becky, or because she both misses her old church experience while at the same time also processing just how much it hurt her emotionally. Or both. Or maybe she’s just missing her pants.

    1. Depends on how closely Willis wants to have Joyce’s character arc follow his own experiences at IU, i.e. crash and burn in traumatic anxiety and depression. (And he still kept publishing Roomies while laying the groundwork for transitioning to Its Walky.)
