Because the old argument about whether eternal damnation means instant annihilation or ongoing torment is being worked out in the DYW-verse too. And alas, so far it looks like no matter how much we damn Willis, we’re somehow being set up to be tormented over and over and over in return.

Dorothy doesn’t have the nightmare tonight, and locks in, consciously or unconsciously, that being near Joyce reassures her and keeps the nightmare away. She keeps ‘nodding off’ next to Joyce for the rest of the year, and once they’re no longer in the dorms and now in a house that Joyce, Joe, Sarah, Carla, Walky, and Sal are renting together, Joyce twigs onto “Is Dorothy narcoleptic?” and frog-marches her to a sleep specialist in a mirror of how Dorothy frog-marched her to the ophthalmologist.
Whatever I may feel about Dorothy not telling Joyce about her problems is erased by Joyce’s unconditional caring about her friend. I have been out-unconditioned by a fictional character.
Is it way too much to say I enjoy all the Joyce/Dorothy baiting specifically to spite the sealion on Patreon that drove me to nuke my account there?
But really, it was incredibly irking to have literally every comment section for any given JoJo strip to be riddled with “BuT DoRoThY” including “Joyce is only interested in Joe for his body,” alongside the strip where Joyce was explicitly disappointed with Joe for being a “libido with a face.”

It’s very insightful and sweet that Joyce has enough emotional intelligence to see Dorothy is struggling, give her some problems to fix, and subtly comfort her about things she can’t control. Joyce can be devious in her own way and fixing the problem so they Dotty doesn’t even know she did anything is so smart.
Oh yeah, she’s had her own glasses like a week now, it’s the perfect time to learn about how expensive it gets to forget about them and roll over them in bed. Why not make it two pairs for one.
