          Generally, the body loses fat in the reverse order of gaining it. So the last place you gained weight will be the first place you lose it.

        All bodies are different. I’ve seen some people who gained some weight also gain a lot of size in the chest region. Others, yes, not so much.

          @milu: Their comment wasn’t posted in reply to Leorale, which I think also adds to the idea that it wasn’t meant to be glib. More expanding on it in the conversation– bodies are good AND bodies are different.

          I remember a few years ago, taking part in a conversation about bodies with some folks, and one commented how when they gained weight, the first place it went was to their chest. When they told their friends about this, their friends were like, “Okay, shut up, that’s nothing to complain about.” But they didn’t *like* having a larger chest. In fact, it was a great source of gender dysphoria for them, but they weren’t out as trans yet and I think even still considered themself a cis woman, so it was hard to put that into words.

          So, I guess just adding another angle: sometimes the weight goes to your boobs and it SUCKS.

          there’s a whole range of issues with copaganda, not all of them necessarily present at the same time. but one they share is that they disproportionately humanize cops. whether they are portrayed as clumsy fun guys or corrupt jerks it becomes harder to see the systemic forest for the cop character trees.

          But, also they are disproportionately shown in a friendly light in the media.

          Ironically, the best treatment of cops is usually when they’re “rogue” cops because every other cop is dirty, corrupt, or incompetent. Even then, the issues are ones that sometimes even the Left ignores.

          A lot of Left in America talk a big game about the cops but pretend that it begins with them versus the fact they are enforcing the unjust system exactly as it’s designed in Washington.

        It’s been a long time since she and Dorothy have interacted, it sounds quite unlikely, but sometimes I think that it could be Becky who can really help the blonde, I mean that concern in the letter, it kind of implied that this “rivalry” It was nothing more than a game for the redhead.

          Booster wouldn’t hesitate to do so. But I wonder if the rest would be willing to really collaborate. The only ones who would show greater confidence in talking would be Becky and Jennifer, but the latter would create more conflict with Ruth. Although Joyce would not hesitate to help, I don’t think she would be willing to provide authentic transparency. In the situation (I think she hasn’t even gone to therapy), Walky wouldn’t feel comfortable at all, but I think he would finally realize that Dorothy is a girl who can have problems like any human being and not only is she an “organizational excellence” and realizes that although it was not intentional, he also hurt her

          I’d legit throw Booster at this entire cast on a one-by-one basis and see what happens. I know they’d want to help. I also know they’re a first year psych study and therefore more full of good intentions (and themselves) than praxis… But that’s already more than the campus therapists do, and Dorothy needs a friend who doesn’t idolize her.

          Exactly, as much as Joyce wants to help, the result is really intriguing…and said result I fear will not be something positive, and well, if I have learned from this comic, it is to expect the unexpected.

          Many in the comments have put Joyce x Dorothy on a pedestal, but two other options have recently appeared:
          Jennifer and Jacob, about Jennifer I can only say that she is a loved and hated character, but to be honest I think that it would harm the poor blonde more than benefit her, although if Dorothy at some point can’t stand it anymore, she may be able to tell extremely strong truths that shocked everyone. Jacob is the least likely, however, it would be an opportunity for Dorothy to meet other people who are not from her usual circle. In fact, I have commented that even a friendship between the two is valid and acceptable, of course this would cause misunderstandings between them. Sarah and Joyce and the latter is able to encourage her partner to do something stupid, but I also want to believe that not everything is chaotic, and Sarah realizes that there is nothing like that and even sees Dorothy in a different way, well honestly, I have not seen a very strong link between the two and they are only committed to helping Joyce and I dare say that now a true link could emerge.

          Amber is immersed in her own affairs, but showing that consideration in a game of Mario Kart gives her points in her favor and yes, it may sound absurd, but I think she would be the older sister that Dorothy needs.

          And now, this may be the most absurd option of all, but it could be that Roz is that person.

          I clarify, all this is just a personal opinion, but I agree that a person who treats Dorothy like a human being is the right option, the question is… who?

          It’s all ok! ^^ I’m reading and nodding along. I think the option I like the most here is Amber, and not only because I’m biased about her, ok ok hear me out. The Mario Kart strips showed potential for a really nice complementary dynamic.

          Amber is smart. Extremely so, even, but she’s not ambitious and (please correct me if I’m mistaken), she hasn’t expressed any dreams for the future – mainly because she’s until very recently not believed she has any. This… Is not great. But also, Dorothy’s idealization of a job she was ill suited for meant an extreme sort of ambition that allowed for no mistakes and was bound to do away with her mental health. So now she’s in the middle of her very own crisis of faith.

          I think Dorothy could learn to chill from Amber (instead of just having a Fun Times Boyfriend), like, it’s okay if she’s not at her 10000% all the time? And Amber could learn it’s ok to see yourself living enough to graduate so what would you like to do? Notice this isn’t a “teach her” but a “learn from” – Amber wouldn’t let her get overbearing. And she’s seen The Horrors so Dorothy wouldn’t have to be Perfectly Mentally Healthy(tm) around her. IDK. It’s 5am here. But it feels nicer than Being Garbage Together At Garbage Roof. Like yeah, let’s have Saturdays of (doing) Nothing, but also, we could keep each other moving?

          Not only is Michigan in the way, the norther border for Indiana in just under 10km south of the southern most land-point in Canada (and Bloomington is around 280km further south).

          But Pelee & it’s little neighbours do extend sound of norther edge of Indiana (But still far north of Bloomington area.

          0 is really fucking cold
          40 is freezing
          100 is human body temperature
          350 is pie-baking temperature
          451 is paper burning temperature

          (ish, the point is not for me to be literate in your freakish scale, just to get a rough sense of what americans are on about)

          Actually, 30F is closer to the point that water freezes. 40 is a little warmer than you want your fridge operating.

          Metric’s good for a lot of things, even Celcius in some cases. But Fahrenheit is better for weather than C, and that’s a hill I’ll die on. 32 F is where clean water freezes, 10 is where pond water freezes, 40 is jacket weather. 50 is chilly. 70 is nice. 80 is warm. 90 is hot.
          Air temperature below 0 and above 100 is where its really dangerous. -18 C to 38 C is not an intuitive scale.

          Also metric weeks kind of sucked.

        Bit more than i can chew maybe, i keep wanting to draw huge 5-person panels with whacky poses because I’ve put in all this hard work to somehow justify a flying orgy… So that’s a bit of a challenge haha. Also i gotta be honest after all this narrative creativity that i am kinda proud of, im kind of out of ideas for the story besides some general sense of “and then they fuck.”

        None of that withstanding i do have an update in the works. So at least a few more pictures should pop up in 2024 =3

        But also the world is very fucked so even though im a deeply lazy person i did end up doing a lot of Palestine solidarity activism lately. Sometimes activism is self-care. Not the most conducive lifestyle to producing silly porn scifi fanart, but i do still need my escapist hobbies now and then.           That doesn’t actually make what thejeff said untrue. All you’ve argued is “but BEFORE they helped each other get better, they helped each other get worse for a while”. Carla didn’t join the relationship and hold their hands and force them to get sober and go to therapy continually for months over their protests; she just happened to be part of the recovery from that one crisis point.

          Sure do love this extremely revisionist version of the breakup where Ruth broke up with Billie because she “finally realized Billie was an awful partner”, instead of what actually happened on-panel, which was Ruth saying repeatedly, out loud, with her mouth, that Billie was wonderful and she’d never been happier in her life, but she was afraid that someday she might slide back into self-destructive depression and that she might take Billie with her in the process.

      I think they might’ve been talking in hushed tones, and that lasted for all of one panel before Jennifer started complaining about the cold and they both forgot what they were doing.

    The permeability of surfaces to various types of radiation is highly variable in the DOAverse. For instance, Joe was able to hide behind a glass door (and yell at Amber, IIRC, although maybe it was implied to be a stage whisper) yet remain undetected at Becky’s mom’s birthday party. And Jennifer remarked that the dorm’s interior walls are impressively soundproof or her relationship with Ruth would have been much more obvious.

    Character tips for Ruth – next time, note that you would notice anyone wearing a titty shirt in freezing temperatures.

    First, because this is true. Even in summer warmth, its easy to notice a titty shirt. They stand out (in more ways than one if the wearer is well endowed) even on a college campus, which is usually why someone wears one – to draw attention for whatever reason. Doing it in winter is even more of a cry for the spotlight.

    Second, noting anything that personally attaches to Jennifer/Billie is… a bad idea. It lets her know she’s getting attention, particularly attention from you, Ruth. Whatever lingering attraction you feel for this woman, remember that you literally baracaded your door to keep her out. Give her space, and she’ll just be back in and hurting you again. Keep your responses general, rather than vulnerable.

    Third, Ruth? You have been in that building how long? You know that glass isn’t soundproofed. You know Dorothy doesn’t care about making snowballs with reckless attire choices. Unless this is to distract her to soften her up to talk to, all you are doing is losing on both fronts with this digression.
