I wonder if there’s something similar governing Daisy’s ability to get laid. Or is her lack of sexytimes just a universal constant?
Aquila
Like the “speed of laid”, or something?
Sharizard
I like to think that Daisy’s constantly getting it on with a long line of lady suitors. She’s just _that_ horny that she comes across as a desert dweller.
Thag Simmons
I was rooting for Daisy/Alice for a long time because I figured the only way Daisy notched a romantic win is if someone else was taking a massive loss like “boss’s new girlfriend is your ex who hates you”
Now that Alice and Jennifer are on good terms again I don’t think that balance shakes out in Daisy’s favour anymore though
Oh no, not Steinz Gate. I promised a friend I would finish that in middle school, and I still haven’t gotten around to it. I feel somewhat guilty about that. However, now that you have reminded me, I hope I can finally get around to fulfilling that particular promise.
This feeling is the best. When you can just be yourself and they can be the self and it’s easy. I didn’t get much sleep the last time I slept like this but I’ve been running on the feeling for three weeks now. Like, yeah, just let it be and it’s all fine.
I know because this is a never ending comic that Sarah’s eventually going to fuck this up for drama, but sincerely, she kinda needs a break and to enjoy being in a functional relationship where she doesn’t have to make any difficult moral choices, where she doesn’t need to feel liek the mentor, where she doesn’t have to avoid anyone due to their toxicity, where she doesn’t have to put up with manchildren.
Actually, I can see Tony fucking this up because he hates buffoonery, and all of Sarah’s friends are buffoons.
So I can see a moment where Tony hits her with the “Sarah, you’re better then this, you don’t need these kind of clowns in your life.” And Sarah being all “My friends *are* my life. And also clowns.”
I don’t THINK Tony has shown he’d pull the ultimatum card though. So it could be fine.
Honestly, Sarah being in a fulfilling romantic relationship and becoming more genuine with her emotions would be new territory for her, so I think this could stay narratively interesting
Raidah is going to try destroying this and honestly I’ll be pissed if she succeeds. I’m okay with this fizzling out because young relationships often hit the “actually we don’t want the same things in life and that’s okay”, but I would like for it not to be some huge drama. I agree with Envy that Sarah being in a positive romantic relationship is territory that has plenty of space to be narratively interesting.
I’m having a hard time coming up with a situation where Raidah has any leverage, since (as discussed by GholaHalleck) Tony hates buffoonery, and Raidah is a world champion at her specific style of buffoonery.
It’s interesting to me that they’ve been together for like 5 minutes and we’re already wondering how this will be ruined. Other couples have been together and happy for longer. Becky and Dina, Sal and Danny. Why do we think Sarah and Tony will naturally ruin a good thing? Couple stability and functionality has been about 50/50 so far and most of the failed ones involved Walky.
Mostly because Sarah’s default state is frowning.
Becky has the whole “mask of wackiness” but in standard contexts, she’s happy. Even if we know she’s a little sad inside. So the default for long-running strips is to maintain that “happiness” or make it real.
Wheras with Sarah… we’re used to having her frown. So the question is, what will eventually lead her tk frown AGAIN.
Nadamás
I think we established that Willis is perfectly willing to change characters status quo if it tells a good story.
Because those other couples have a “will never break up” side of the couple.
Danny’s not ever breaking up with Sal, and Danny will never do anything that Sal would see as a deal breaker.
Becky and Dina have ONE potential upcoming sore spot. and its only a potential, and it would need Becky to take the worst possible reactions to Joyce and Dotty’s possible bisexuality. (They both fall on the scale, but I legit thing Dotty is more into ladies then dudes, she’s just repressed it because of location and Joe’s dumbass teenager bullshit.)
Other then that, Becky and Dina just don’t have any course edges to cause a break.
clif
If Danny says something out loud about Marcy that he meant to just think, it could be a potential trouble spot. We haven’t had any foreshadowing of that though.
BBCC
He’d have to say something absolutely disgusting about Marcie and I don’t think those are opinions he’d have.
Neither of them does something severe enough to be called “fucking it up”, just some friction. They date for a while but decide to amicably split because Tony is 0% nonsense, and Sarah is 20% nonsense.
Further, I do love that Willis keeps a lot of balls in the air, so to speak, like I feel like a great balance is had in juggling who is dealing with hard things, who is savoring some happiness, who is anxious, etc. It keeps things interesting.
I once got thrown out of a group, no explanation, no warning, no chance to apologise, when someone said “a lot of balls in the air” and my reply was “interesting sex life?”
In the words of Becky “that’s deserved” (j/k, maybe, I’m not sure, too much depends on context)
Les
This is also how I got thrown out of the Sisters of the Holy Saints signal group chat, after Sister Mary S added me by accident. (Sister Mary N’s phone number was one digit off from mine.)
Man, I really like Tony and hope he and Sarah stay together for a while. But it’s also nice knowing that even if they don’t, Tony’d probably be a reasonable adult about it.
Or, y’know, I hope so. Law of Entertainment Media dictates that he could very well be a hidden shithead and subvert my hopes and expectations.
Tony rapidly rising through the boyfriend ranks to become the best boyfriend in DoA wasn’t on my bingo card for this year but godDAMN he’s putting in an effort. They are so cute!
I do wonder what Tony’s whole deal was. In the Walkyverse his whole deal was he was deeply tortured by his past and stuff i can’t help but think that’s the case here and he has a past deeply full of Bullshit but not quite on the same level. I really wonder what kind of dynamic he’ll bring to the cast i can’t help but feel that despite resistance he’ll get caught up in the crews nexus of bullshit and if he does i think he’ll end up being the team dad in a way.
Also we’re seeing more connections to the lyrics of only exception here…
My guess would be he’s used to people being fake towards him because of who his father is and then because of his sports skills. Which has become a stronger aversion for that nonsense.
I’m hoping he won’t mind their nonsense too much because its at least authentic.

Are both sarah and dorothy not allowed to be happy at the same time? Is that how this works?
Cheshrin
Sarah’s happiness being inverse to the happiness of others is canonically a Comedic Law of the Dumbiverse.
So, not necessarily Dorothy, but SOMEONE has to be going through it in order for Sarah to have a good time.

Luckily there never seems to be a shortage of characters going through it so Sarah should be able to enjoy some happiness for a while.

Can you imagine how peeved Dina would be if she suspected the truth of the laws of her universe?

Kinda like the unofficial rule at Marvel that if Spider-Man’s life gets better, Daredevil’s has to be worse, and vice versa.
eh, whatever
They’re allowed to be unhappy at the same time.

D’awwwwwww! I assume things happened aside from sleeping, but he’s obviously serious about her. I am giddy over this for them.

Brace yourself, it’s a time travel plot which can get real hard to follow and also the main characters can get kind of edgey
Is basically the show Rick and Morty WISHES it could be

When does the buffoonery kick in?
Thag Simmons
Once the people who have normal sleep schedules start waking up, I think.
Shade
Too early for buffoons. They need lots of sleep.
Taffy
He’ll see her later.

Some time after practice. Or during.

“suddenly~ life has a new meaning, to meeeee~ there’s beauty up above, and things we’ve never taken notice of-“

You wake up and suddenly, you’re in… like? Fondness with a side of lust?
ZombieKyrik
I’m hoping this is a TFS reference; Cell’s singing during his saga is the best part.
Freezer
This is “Suddenly” by Billy Ocean (a favorite at weddings, BTW).
Cell sang “My Way” by Frank Sinatra.
Juanoku
Cell also sings “suddenly” when Gohan kills the cell Jr.

But he also seems to value people being real, so maybe he can handle authentic buffoons.
Needfuldoer
Sarah’s friends aren’t the “actively going out of their way to intentionally harm others” kind of buffoons, so maybe he’ll put up with their antics.
jpnr
I don’t think Tony rolls like that.
Tho he is friends with Biff who is the least buffoon person on campus so who knows.
He was already shown to be annoyed by Walky so that’s something he and Sarah can bond on.

she can try, but fucking with the dean’s son might be worse for her plans then fucking over Sarah.
I *do* think that Sarah standing up for her doofs would probably earn Tony’s respect for them, and even more for her, for standing up for them.
(Also thanks Z, in case you see this.)

The dean seems to be pretty graceful about being Linda’s ex, so maybe he raised his kid to also be reasonable about it.

Evidence is that his kid doesn’t know a thing about it.
