          I generally count the first decade you can actually remember most of, and I definitely don’t remember enough of the 80s to count as an 80s kid. Although apparently I still count as a millennial somehow so who knows.

          But I suppose you can b forgiven for not seeing a movie that was released about the same time you were.

          In that case, I hope that forgiveness extends beyond just the one movie and its sequels. Because I have a long list of films I’ve never watched that people frequently insist I should watch, usually phrased as “You need to get educated.” That phrasing is a large part of the reason those films go unseen.

          Yeah, it’s one thing when you think you mistyped or autocorrected something so you type the original again, but spelling it out means you’ve recognized the filter and are actively avoiding it. Maybe don’t do that?

          Unless there’s some good reason – like maybe telling someone what the filter’s blocking when they ask.

          That said, is this one new? Because we’ve seen a couple people commenting on it over the last couple days and I don’t remember noticing it before. OTOH, I don’t remember much use of the word conga replaces either.

          If you want to use a blocked word so badly, at least use some asterisks as filler.

          File type extensions are an outdated mechanism of file data formating which only Windows persists in holding onto on a system level by default, and even then it’s widely seen as a PEBCAK type security flaw to actually use them. Referring to any use of them except in specific limited circumstances
          (mainly where they can identify type at a glance, such as in large complex coding projects) as “old and deprecated” is generally appropriate.

          I’m not entirely sure what this means. All I know is, if I see “.jpg” at the end of a filename, I know it’s gonna look like hot trash, and if I see “.png”, I know it can have a transparent background and won’t add colors I didn’t want.

A big use for Becky, should Les be willing, would be for use on FAFSA forms and IU admittance forms which could net more financial and administrative leeway than trying to go it alone, letting her be in classes sooner.
          That said, you are right that it has little to no bearing on her current housing situation.

          I dino, I think part of the issue they blew things a bit out of proportion as well. I mean I guess Hollywood is all about making things larger than life, but it seems like its one of the bigger problems Dina has with their raptors.

          A giant, feathery hellbeast would look more intense, anyway. Like, picture your average depiction of a T. rex, standing on top of a hill with the wind blowing nice and hard. Not very interesting, since it has no major reaction. Now, put feathers on it, even just in a few key spots. Suddenly, it’s dozens of times more dynamic.

      Yeah, I had that thought too. Not on purpose, of course, but a miscommunication over what both of them have in mind/are really ready for. Like, this strip is adorable in ALL THE WAYS, all of them, every single one, but I hope Dina doesn’t get sad if Becky decides to stay in Billie’s bed again just to “be safe” or something, or Becky doesn’t feel bad if she wants to do that. Like a “first tiff” situation of miscommunication.

      The thing is, both of them want to but don’t feel ready.

      I can’t see Dina pressuring her, but if Becky feels the surge in desire coming from her, chances are that will boost both her confidence and lust levels…

      They may go further than previousiy intended and that may lead to awkwardness after, but I can’t see it being as a result of a deliberate seduction (using the meaning with manipulative connotations). Neither character is the sort to feel that their desire to do things overrides another person’s right to make the decision to wait while trying to be logical and rational

        I can’t imagine Dina or Becky being pushy, especially if the other one was the least bit hesitant about it. But, yeah, Miri, I have the tiniest concern that if they both get “carried away,” the aftermath could be Becky feeling guilt for “sinning” or having an awkward unpleasant moment with Joyce (as Joyce absorbs it and Becky works through feelings), or they’ll both be bashful and THINK the other one is disappointed. Dina’s good at being straightforward when she knows what she wants to confront, but something like the hat conversation that Becky was so nervous about and Dina didn’t immediately pick up on.

        Or, maybe Dina’s reaction to Becky the Dinosaur is less sexually charged than we might think, and she thinks Becky is adorable in a less boning-oriented way. Like hardcore hand holding or snuggling levels of turned on, or something.

        I doubt anything that happens will have irreparable damage so much as a tiny blip in their boundless bliss that’ll ultimately bring them closer. The last few strips have made me hesitant to accept happiness, maybe?

      I know everyone is going immediately to Dina turning this into a fetish (and I am sure she can/will) but I think she could also be more focused on the fact that she could cuddle a dinosaur that is her girlfriend. I’m probably wrong, but the chance does exsist.

          The three dinosaur-themed series were Mighty Morphin,Dino Thunder, and Dino Charge/Supercharge, so your count is correct. Considering how heavily stylised each dinosaur is in the various seasons, though, Dina may end up being less critical of them.

          This is of course not counting the various Sentai series that were where all the combat suit footage was taken from…but I’m not sure if there were any additional dinosaur themed ones of those beyond the ones that got turned into the ones you listed off.

          Teens with attitude just seem kind of lame compared to space pirates of justice and some of the other things the protagonists were originally.

          The three existing dinosaur-themed Super Sentai series are Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger, and Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger, in chronological order. Assuming the pattern holds, we’ll probably be seeing a fourth dino Sentai in about 6 years.

          Granted, the original Mighty Morphin cast did start off a bit bland, with the show only really picking up during Green Ranger-focused episodes and the final 10 episodes of the first season. However, future Ranger teams broke the formula of “teenagers with attitude”. For example, the Time Force Rangers were honest-to-gosh time police, and the RPM Rangers were effectively anti-terrorist freedom fighters in a post-apocalyptic world.

          …Not that I have more than a passing interest in the franchise, or anything.

          They’ve only wholly skipped 2 so far – Go-Busters and ToQger, which were themed after modern animals/vehicles* and trains, respectively.

          (Which sucks, really…they somehow turned Go-Onger into RPM, and they skip Go-Busters, which is one of the best? Feh!)

          They didn’t use much of Dairanger, either (just the mechs and white ranger costume).

          * Like Go-Onger/RPM, their mechs combined animal and vehicle aspects. The core team had mammals (cheetah, gorilla, rabbit), the Sixth Rangers had beetles (stag and kabutomushi).

          I don’t really see them adapting Zyuohger, either. The last two Power Rangers series each ran two years in a row, skipping over a series to make the next, so they didn’t wind up too far behind. If the pattern holds, Ninja Steel will do the same, and then Kyuranger will be our next adaptation. The suits are much more interesting to look at, too, since the Zyuohger suits are bland as all getout.

    (Also I was at a convention but I’d just like to say that “redemption” is like trust or respect. It’s not really something that can be universally attained. Certain people will hold the things you’ve done against you for the rest of your life, no matter what lengths you go to try to change yourself. Yet some people will forgive the most heinous acts if you give a half-assed apology. Redemption is more of an opinion than something you can attain, although there’s people who are universally accepted as irredeemable and people universally seen as redeemed or justified.)

      That’s only if your definition of redemption assumes that to be redeemed, you must be forgiven by those you’ve wronged.

      You can still become a better person than you were, and right the wrongs to whatever extent is possible, even if people you’ve hurt never forgive you, even if you’re never redeemed in their eyes.

      But that’s the kind of thing Rachel was calling a lie. She started off talking redemption, but she ended with “you’ll always be the thing you were before”, which is dead wrong.

        Redemption isn’t a physical or tangible thing, however. It is entirely decided by personal opinion or general opinion. It’s like money. We all accept money has a value but it only has the value we, as a people, assign to it. In a weird way, Rachel is almost right about it not being real, just not in the way she thinks.

          If I understand you, there is no general definition of redemption, there is a universal feeling of what it looks like being a better person, some attempt to make amends for past mistakes but there is no point where everyone can agree that people are redeemed. Fart Captor believes that the victim doesn’t get to decide when the villain is redeemed, that’s forgiveness not redemption. By Robins current standards the Flim Flam brothers in MLP FIM achieved redemption now because they stumbled upon a socially acceptable setting to scam people. By Inspector Gaverts standards Jean Valjean still hasn’t been redeemed for that bread he stole. You might think there’s some universal truth about what constitutes redemption but unless you believe God or the universe knows the closest we have is the law which most agree is flawed. If I understand correctly Yotomoe believes that you go with the victims judgement on whether a person is redeemed.

          Pretty close. It more has to do with Public Opinion. For example. Vegeta probably murdered MANY MANY people in his life. But everyone he knows is cool with it so consider him redeemed.
          Frieza ALSO killed many man people in his life. But everybody hates him so he is not redeemed.

      Joyce – I see as Gryffindor. She has that kind of black and white morality that needs to be tempered with some worldly flexibility. She’s also very, VERY willing to fight for herself and others. She fucked up her would-be-rapist’s face. She punched out Becky’s dad. She stole her mother’s car.
      Walky – Ravenclaw, 100%. He puts all of his eggs into the basket of ‘brilliant,’ to the point that a single failing grade completely destroys him. He can’t see himself as anything but academically gifted, and without the proof that he is the smartest man in the room, he crumbles.
      Dorothy – Absolutely a Slytherin. She is ethical and she believes in doing the right things, like a Gryffindor, and is willing to give up power for others, but she is wildly ambitious.
      Billie – She’d probably be sorted into Slytherin because she is a spoiled rich kid who thought she was untouchable in her youth, but personality wise I would put her in Gryffindor. She’s another character who will fight for what she believes in, regardless of what it costs her. And, honestly, she isn’t very ambitious. She just kind of glides through what she is supposed to do, without any big plans.
      Amber – Gryffindor? I mean, I know she is incredibly intelligent and values that intelligence, but she is destroying herself over conflicts of what is moral and just. She wants to be a noble, strong, courageous person, and those traits define her a bit more than her academics.
      Danny – Hufflepuff. Possibly the most loyal person in the darn series. XD
      Sarah – Hufflepuff? She is brave and strangely noble, shown by her tracking down Joyce and beating down her abuser, but she doesn’t really believe in ‘justice’ and wouldn’t value being put in a house with hotheads. She is ambitious enough to pursue a career in law, but doesn’t really think her actions through. I am also not saying she isn’t smart, but she isn’t a gifted academic and sometimes overlooks the most basic information about the field of study she is pursuing, which isn’t very much like a Ravenclaw. In the end, her character is best defined as someone who works hard, and she is loyal in her own way.
      Becky – Gryffindor, is there any question?
      Sal – Hufflepuff. She doesn’t like to involve herself in moral fights and is too jaded to believe in justice, she doesn’t believe herself to be intelligent, and she isn’t very ambitious. She does believe in hard work, though, and is DEVOTED to the people who earn her trust.
      Dina – Ravenclaw, again this one goes without saying.
      Ethan – Hufflepuff, yeah. He is best defined by the friendships he makes and his unwillingness to turn on people.
      Ruth – Hufflepuff as well. She is a strong personality, don’t get me wrong, but a lot of that is a bluff. She’s deeply vulnerable, and we see that most of her actions can be traced back to her willingness to suffer so that her loved ones don’t. On top of that, she works her ASS OFF when she doesn’t really have to. She could have slacked off as the RA, which every other RA was doing, but did actually do her job. Albeit abusively.
      Joe – I guess Gryffindor? He’s not loyal, doesn’t care about academics, and isn’t ambitious. He’d likely choose Gryffindor because it’s the ‘popular’ house.
      Mike – Slytherin? Honestly, we see so little of him and his motivations. We just know he likes to fuck with people.
      Roz – Slytherin. She is all about getting her way through ANY means necessary. Sure she is pursing justice in her own way, but the way she goes about that is shady at best.
      Carla – Ravenclaw, she is a BRILLIANT woman who values that intelligence. She also doesn’t tend to like to involve herself in other people’s battles. She could also be a Slytherin.
      Jacob – Hufflepuff, he is a kind of loyal soul.
      Marcie – Gryffindor? She does seem to care more about the law and what is right than Sal, but again we don’t really see much of her. We basically only see her in relation to Sal.

          First off, I had a chuckle that you have Mary as an avatar and said that. Second, I think it’s fairly balanced here. Willis cuts out anything that harshly insults a poster especially things like cyber bullying, threats, calls for someone else to take their life, trolls, bots, flaming, LGBTQ+ bigoted rants with slurs or hate speech, or other things that he doesn’t want on the board like a list of why this comic sucks (which confuses me because why did you read it?). Basically if you talk like you are in a civil debate or thanksgiving at the retirement home, you should be fine. You can learn the gray area boundaries later.

          I’m a well-read, liberal, polysexual, atheist who’s friends with an anti vax, Trump supporting, anti LGBTQ+, super Christian. I could write a book on how we’re different, but we can make it work as long as we respect each other’s beliefs and opinions. We do argue and sometimes I want to pop her like a zit, but we never insult each other, go for low blows, or suggest something harmful as a solution. It’s all about discussing why we have X position on something, how it effects us, our knowledge on it, and why the other one didn’t work for us personally. We both learn something in the process even the times we cut off conversation (which is always important to do when tempers run high to avoid saying something you’ll regret). Could something happen that causes us to quit being friends in the near future? Yes because shit happens sometimes. But if we could navigate the complexities of a friendship like this for months, I’m sure you can figure out how to post here and express your feelings in a healthy way 🙂

        Bluewind: I totally get the feeling. It’s something that happens from time to time, what with the subject matter and especially with the political climate in US. People just get on edge. And I find that on the internet it’s pretty easy to get caught up in stuff.

        I found myself becoming really attached to the outcome of debates and getting emotionally involved, and that’s not how I really am normally, and it’s emotionally draining. I think you’re right, I will do better job of walking away when it gets too much. And I will do a better job of remembering that differing opinion, or even if I *think* a person is wrong, just to try to meet them where they’re at and it’s okay to agree to disagree. I know I can be intense. We all have our moments, but none of us are Marys.

        Halpful- you don’t have to apologize. I just felt awful about the way it ended, you know? I wouldnt have been honest to myself if I didn’t get it off my chest.

          I agree about the political climate. It keeps me and my friends on edge and it’s impossible to avoid. Sometimes it’s nice to go somewhere where it’s not a topic of conversation even for a little bit to get a breath of fresh air rather it’s a physical location, a forum, a game, or a show.

          (Sorry about the length here. I’m tired so no time for an edit to cut it down)

          The hardest thing to learn how to do is to agree to disagree or to walk away when things get heated. There are so many times it’s hard to do. Sometimes it’s even harder to take from someone else like a thought is stuck in your throat trying to claw it’s way out and they asked you to swallow it. You think just one more sentence and you’ll be done. Give in after they put a period at the end of that particular discussion and they’ll be pissed at you for not respecting their feelings (rather they reply or not). Then all the good points you made in the conversation that might have soaked in later (or even been reread) will be thrown away because they are in a fuck you/this mood. Either that or you will stress out someone who doesn’t need the stress.

          The weird thing is that when you learn when to stop and walk away or how to accept when someone else needs to is very good for your mental health. It’s not something that’s really taught, so we normally have to learn the hard way that there is a point at which things can become a negative in our lives. Recognizing your stopping point is important in everything from conversation to your career to relationships (too many don’t see it and stay in a bad situation for far too long or leave a good one too soon). So is recognizing that others might have a different stopping point than you and respecting that. Baby steps like knowing when to walk away empower us for the bigger ones later as well.

          PS: Of course I understand! I’m from a family of the most hard headed people on the planet. I’m pretty sure their skulls could be used on diamond drill bits XD

          It’s not too long, your comment was beautifully put! Yes, it’s often very hard for me to walk away, I completely understand. Especially when we get in our feelings, or someone is feeling legitimately offended or triggered, or even simply not feeling like we are being heard.. Then it’s like feeling like you have to defend yourself vs. just letting it go. And when things get heated, the whole conversation just explodes.

          Walking away and letting things go is something I’m still learning, and I think I have a long way to go there, because I’m at the point in my journey where I’m also trying to learn how to stand up for myself. Often the two notions clash, and like you said, I end up feeling drained and less healthy than I was before. Learning to say I’m just not going to get involved…it’s like Oprah says: “No” is a complete sentence.”

          And lol same, my family is very loud and opinionated bunch, and everyone is very invested in their perspectives.

          They look like they clash, but really they are two sides of the same coin. Walking away is not admitting defeat. Quite the opposite actually. Agree to disagree means that you recognize an impasse and while you can’t change their mind, they also can’t change yours. It’s standing up for your right to have your own opinion. Then there is walking away which is also standing up for yourself and your mental health either because you need to relax and reflect before continuing the conversation, have made the decision that your time is better used elsewhere, want to stop feeding a troll/bully/abuser/narcissist, or otherwise.

          There are so many ways to stand up for yourself. You use so many when you buy a house. You have to be strong and state with what you want and your budget. Coming to a compromise requires ingenuity, empathy, and standing your ground during the back and forth so as to find middle ground instead of just being dragged along. However, you also need to know when it’s okay to let go of something rather it’s a tiny thing or the house itself after investing time and heart on it.     On second reading, I’m wondering if Becky’s complex is at least slightly due to realising in hindsight how uncomfortable her easy intimacy must have made Joyce and she doesn’t want to ‘step over the line’ with Dina. The lesson (at least for Dina) is that she must communicate her objectives clearly to Becky. That, in of itself, would be a considerable step for Dina to take, given her historical difficulties in dealing with communication of any kind.

    I just binge watched The Last Man On Earth. Other than deciding that if that happened, I would familiarize myself with power plant locations and make hundreds of trips (to possibly somewhere in Mexico) to stockpile everything I could ever need, I thought of reading material. Is it weird that instead of thinking of classics, the first thing that popped in my head was DoA and then I got sad that survivors would probably never get the chance to read the ones in print much less the ones online, in the buffer, and still in Willis’ head?

    If Dina is grey-ace, I believe we’re seeing the grey far more than the ace here.

    I suspect what this is is a hint that she’s not ace-spectrum at all, but that’s no matter. Her and Becky’s thirst are absolutely adorable and I am absolutely here for it.

    And Becky trying her hardest to add more layers to as if that meant anything other than having more layers to strip off hungrily. Ah, failed abstinence.

    Also, I love Dina’s shifts here. From “uh huh, yes, whatever honey, you do what you need to” distraction, to a full Takei-ian “oh my”, to just shoving Joyce down the hall when she seems to break it apart. No worries Dina, I suspect Becky will be easier to convince than Hamilton to stay.

      I also like how all Dina’s changes are conveyed with very small shifts in facial expression. She’s not what most people would consider traditionally emotive, but it’s obvious that she’s experiencing some strong feelings right now, and it’s conveyed in a way that is completely in-keeping with her character. It’s an indicator of how well Willis conveys emotional expression effectively, customized for characters with wildly different personalities and mannerisms.

      Random questions, but I was hoping you could clear up a few definitions. I looked online, but when it came to gray ace, all I could really get was that it’s between asexuality and sexuality and some other broad definitions. Could you better define it for me? Could she be panromanic demisexual seeing as she hasn’t felt this way until getting really close to Becky (and her relationships in It’s Walky) or am I misunderstanding the nuance? Is there any other possibilities that I – with my strictly written word concept of the majority of LGBTQ+ – wouldn’t recognize if witnessed? I have to admit I’m rather nieve there.

      In my lifetime I’ve known 4 open gay cis men, 1 open bi cis woman, 1 open transwoman, 1 woman in my checkout line headed to see her girlfriend, one person I met while in the hospital who didn’t know the right word for what they were (but was most likely gender fluid), one friend currently trying to figure out what sexuality she is (people on here mentioned aromantic asexual as a possibility) and my polysexual self. Because of that I miss a lot of nuance.

      Also I’m terrible because the first transwoman I met in person I wanted to ask a billion questions because she was LGBTQ+ too and living in this insane town. I ended up fighting myself not to do that. I’m pretty sure I ended up acting weird or off putting instead and she hasn’t talked to me since -_-

        From what I’ve read, gray-ace is “not sexually attracted to people, except for the rare occasion where you are”. Demisexual would be “not sexually attracted to anyone until a strong platonic or romantic connection forms, which can take months or years”.

        Grey-ace is often a larger term for the grey area between allosexual and asexual and can include only have intensely irregular, reduced, or heavily conditional sexual attraction as well as some of the other identities in the overall spectrum.

        One of which would be demisexual which is someone who only experiences sexual attraction only after getting to know them intensely, often requiring a long connection first. So yeah, I could definitely see Dina as potentially being Panromantic Demisexual.

          Mike’s already said that he’s doing it to humiliate Ethan and Danny, so chances are he brings it up.

          It’s why I don’t think he’ll actually succeed in seducing Ethan, though in all honesty what I’m really hoping for is that Ethan realizes that Mike is messing with him and stands on his own two feet, rather than having to get rescued by Danny and Amber.

          I think Ethan/Danny will be the first dedicated M/M slipshine.

          The slipshines are always meant to be uplifting and sex positive and there’s nothing sex positive about the story of a gay kid getting taken advantage of with no hope of repercussion because you can’t actually strike back at Mike.

          So IDK I just really feel there’s no way Mike will actually sleep with Ethan. I’d be a lot happier if what happens is that Ethan annoys Mike into submission and he drops it and Ethan/Danny gets to continue at its own pace rather than “Danny is driven into a jealous rage because the guy he’s known for two weeks had sex.”

    I’m not much of a Becky fan anymore but her interactions with Dina are always fantastic. They really bring the best out of each other.

        You know how Batman is presented as a tragic loner haunted by his dead parents that nobody could ever understand even though he is literally the most privileged and fortunate person in the entire DC universe? Becky’s kind of like that for me.

        She just wins all the time. She loses her home so everyone bands together to give her a new one and now Leslie is offering her another one. She has unrequited love for Joyce that may colour her love for Dina, except nope it’s totes fine. She walks into a restaurant and gets handed a job because Galasso is a nutjob. She loses her dad except it’s okay because her dad never really loved her anyway and she doesn’t ever show that she cares or that being kidnapped affected her.

        There’s no struggle to her character anymore, and as someone who loves to see the cast struggle and overcome (Danny and his sexuality, Walky and his self esteem relating to Dorothy, Ruth trying to pick herself up from her suicidal depression), that’s a killing blow for me. Right now I don’t have any reason to be invested in Becky the way I was before.

        Meanwhile her romance with Dina opens up new facets for Dina’s character that no other character can really achieve. She views Dina as a sexual being and a wellspring of knowledge, which is really cool because another series would infantilize Dina for laughs forever and I like that DoA points out, hey, just because Dina’s short and likes dinosaurs doesn’t mean she’s a sexless baby thing.

        TLDR: I stopped liking her as soon as she got a haircut instead of buying a house with that $20 and instantly became obnoxious and terrible.

          i think i see very different things in her – like, being able to make friends you can rely on is a very valuable skill in becky’s situation. keeping a positive attitude is valuable toward getting people to like you, and women get socialized to always be that perfect. it’s not that she’s not traumatized, it’s that she’s repressing all of it while she focuses on getting her basic necessities taken care of. i would not be surprised if once she’s stable she starts working through all of the bad stuff that’s happened to her. i would expect like random bouts of crying that she can’t explain or pin down – depends on how hard her repression goes.

          i don’t know for sure that becky and joyce had genuine romantic chemistry – i think becky might have been looking for validation of her sexuality more than anything. not that her crush wasn’t genuine, but it wasn’t reciprocated in the way becky wanted. and idk the non-jerk thing in that situation is to let it go, and she can’t afford not to let it go if she wants to keep joyce as a friend, but it’s not easy either.

          mostly what i’m saying that while she makes it look like she’s not struggling, that doesn’t mean she’s not putting a lot of work in to make it look like she’s not struggling so that she can get the help she needs. which is kind of something that came up with Robin – she’s cheerful, she has a girlfriend, she has a bed she is borrowing in the dorm, so Robin felt like she could continue to commandeer Leslie’s couch despite owning two (2!!) houses. granted, that says more about Robin than it does about Becky, but like. that’s the kind of way that that attitude can be taken advantage of.

          I hear what you’re saying in that it sounds like you’d like more inner conflict to Becky’s character? which im not gonna lie would be good for her, i think. but also like…the sweetness of her arc right now, to me, is really refreshing. it’s a nice break from Amber and Ruth’s nonstop intense drama! and I could definitely see the urge on Becky’s part to focus mostly on the good things she does have because all the things she doesn’t have are overwhelming.

          Yeah I hear you on the nonstop intense drama part. Ruth isn’t a character I’m super invested in (I didn’t used to like her and have warmed up to her, but I always thought she was well written) but her current arc right now is really good and I think does a good job of having occasional levity and reminders that for all the pitfalls she still has Billie in her corner.

          Amber meanwhile is really hard for me to read because of how close to home her material hits and how it sometimes seems like there’s just no way out for her. I’m hoping next chapter allows her to start, I dunno, patching things up with Danny or continuing to befriend Sal or hell just hanging around Ethan without something going wrong or a painful conversation popping up. She’s a character I deeply relate to but that comes with the unfortunate consequence of her material being kinda triggery for me.

          My anxiety doesn’t present in the Hollywood way, so I feel like an impostor sometimes. The damage is mostly internal, so I might look fine on the outside, or just really quiet or crying… While on the inside my mind is a fucking war zone. Sometimes I’m not even aware of it myself until afterwards.

          Honestly, I’m guessing that Becky’s struggles aren’t finished or she’ll be getting some new ones, but considering her last ones were kinda huge and she didn’t (seemingly) resolve all of them until earlier this storyline, when Leslie offered the house. Makes sense to me to give her a break from any huge struggles for a bit. I’m sure if/when another character’s struggles are resolved for a bit, they’ll get a break for a while too because watching characters drown doesn’t work if it’s drowning post after drowning point after drowning point. A breather’s a good thing. That said, I can understand how it can make a character boring when the thing that draws you to a character in a given work is watching them struggle.

          Sadly, no. If you want something to make you yell impotently at your computer, skim through the comments on some of the strips immediately after Becky got that haircut.

          There were a lot of people who were really mad that Becky didn’t invest that $20 in ???? instead of completely wasting it on self-care and shamelessly mooching off of Joyce. It was the go-to reason for hating Becky apart from outright victim-blaming.

          Paying for a haircut is one of those things where my brain goes all weird, and insists I’m a terrible person regardless. Either I paid too much or too little or don’t have time for such things… It’s all bullshit, really. An outlet for the perfectionism and anxiety and whatever, something it can use as an excuse to beat me up.

          I’m so tired of having a brain stuffed full of unreasonable expectations. I can’t remember any of the tricks I used last week to make it suck less. Hopefully it’s just PMS today and tomorrow will be good again.

Her emotional expressiveness is subdued, but Willis’s consistent with the slash-blushies for thirst for everybody else and Dina’s only got the usual blotch-blushies here. I think panel 4 is her being disappointed that Becky feels the need to cover up.

      Dina’s facial expressions tend to be understated. Just because she’s not doing something like a Joyce freak-out panel doesn’t mean she doesn’t have feelings. I think her actions in panels 6-8 convey her state of mind pretty clearly.
