With the volume of blood Faz has indicated as currently relocated south of the belt, there is a chance he would not wish to end physical contact initiated by the female party. Here is a chart that proves how much he is enjoying this…
Needfuldoer
He seemingly has no idea Joyce is connected to either Joe or Amber, so he has no reason to flee her begrudging company.
butting
That’s not a chart, it’s a whiteboard stolen from a dorm door during an earlier arc.
Eh, the Biblical god would demand that Joyce remain a virgin for life, unless she couldn’t control her hormones, in which case she could maybe get married rather than go to Hell, depending on how you interpret the Pauline letters.
…. Faz is less clear-cut, but I think he gets a smiting for pride.
Agemegos
Depends which Biblical god.
The Bible’s not a book, it’s a library.
vlademir1
Multiple libraries really. Just the core torah has at least four to five major variants in common usage. The Samaritan, Masoretic, Septuagint, and Latin Vulgate texts each differ enough to count as distinct and some parts of the Coptic text may as well to my understanding.
Crusading Barista
Excellent point.
Reltzik
Well, yes, but when a conversation is talking about “the” biblical god, the presumption is that you’re trying to reconcile all those versions into a single, coherent gestalt.
SgtWadeyWilson
I know it’s a whole day late, but I just want it noted that I’m now picturing Walky trying to cram a bunch of beardy dude palette swaps with name tags in their respective languages into one small cardboard box.
Is’nt that kind of anti-Semitic? Your basically saying the God of the Old Testament (aka the Jewish God) is unloving. I’ve seen some pretty heated discussions about this on other blogs between Jews and gentiles and while I don’t want to overgeneralise, I know that many Jews do find that very offensive.
Chris Phoenix
Hm. I’ve read the (Christian version of the) Old Testament, and it seems like that God is _selectively_ loving. Not universally loving, the way the New Testament God is (except for the occasional fig tree or herd of swine).
It’s hard for me to imagine anyone, even someone loyal to the OT God, saying it was a “loving” act to command complete genocide on a conquered people. And at least the translation/version I read doesn’t leave much room for interpretation on that.
Hannah
Sure, the Old Testament God did a lot of messed up shit, so I can understand someone finding him unloving. I think what I really take issue with and did’nt really properly convey is that of the idea of the Old Testament God being less loving than the New Testament God. Sure, the God of the New Testament did’nt exactly do as much overt evil as the OLd Testament God, but he still allows a ton of evil to happen. I get that some evil in the world is necessary for free will and all, but surely things like natural disasters subvert free will by putting people in desperate situations where it might feel like the only way to survive is to be selfish. There’s more than enough man made evil in the world without adding to it. And that’s without getting into the concept of Hell that was introduced by the New Testament which to me is worse than anything the Old Testament God did. I’m aware that not all Christians believe in hell, but I think enough do for my point to Stand.
Or as I’d say: The main difference between OT god and NT god is that the OT god is full of overt horror, while NT god tries to* make it covert horror.
*Not that it always succeeds.
Crusading Barista
One should ask, what would drive a loving God into wrath, when He’s slow to anger?
One, Israel’s constant failure to mainly obey ten simple rules. (Sure, there’s Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, but the “Laws” is the Ten Commandments).
Two, humanity’s perverted nature.
However, Israel did not vanish from existance.
Also, for parts like the Amalekites, God commanded the Israelites to destroy them as revenge for the Amalekites trying to kill off the Israelites’ handicapped people.
I could go on, but my brain is tired from studying all day.
Classic Appa
I wouldn’t call it anti-semitic, it’s a wildly common trope that old school god is much more vengeful and badass than the newer love your enemies god. I believe Sarah has invoked this trope herself when she beat that rapist with a baseball bat.
For some reason I’ve been seeing the DoA characters in contrast to their Walkyverse counterparts this week. Joyce and Faz interacting is slightly weirder than Walky not knowing Jason’s name.

I love this so much.

Joyce didn’t even grab onto him. Faz is really sticky, and her hand brushed against him.

Random Prediction: Next comic, Joe will arrive and Joyce will be standing there with the hoodie but no Faz.

If a woman was involved in removing any piece of his clothing, Faz would stay.

Joyce and Faz. A combination of Willis character over 10 years in the making. May God be with us all.
Jess
A hearty amen to that tbh.

*cue infinite vomit*
Deathjavu
Seems like Joyce actually has the situation under control, somehow.
We’ll see how long her patience lasts.

That doesn’t look so much like patience as grim determination.

Pretty sure that no loving god would allow this ship to ever happen.
But the biblical god probably would.

The Old Testament version, anyway.

Triangle Smile Club is born!

Never hated Jazz so much.
Joyce is good at swipe typing.
Faz better shut up. He does not want to meet the Joyce with the red eyes.
jeffepp
The texting is the only thing keeping her punching hand from, well, punching.

That’s an incredible ship name and I hate you for it. Jazz was a good thing before this day.

The Joyce/Faz ship is in desperate need of an iceburg.
Charlie Spencer
And torpedoes. And mines. And reefs. And maybe a great white whale.
Plasma Mongoose
No kill like OVERKILL!
King Daniel
Concidentally with the first panel, Faz also wants Joyce to do him a solid.
JetstreamGW
He’s gross, but can you really blame him?
alice
yes
Regalli
Texting while Faz-wrangling? Joyce is clearly too powerful.
Reltzik
…. every now and then, Joyce reminds me that she’d be an okay mother.
…. just, you know, not able to clean up messes. Or deal with any aspect of pregnancy or childbirth.
Inahc
iirc, there was a comic about her dealing with pregnancy…
Inahc
found it! http://itspregnancy.tumblr.com/
I also discovered there’s a wiki: http://walkypedia.wikia.com/wiki/Walkypedia_Wiki
James Rye
I had no idea this tumblr even existed and I am hella thankful to you for linking it.
Reltzik
I’m not sure if that’s even Walkyverse canon. But either way, Walkyverse!Joyce =/= Dumbingverse!Joyce.
Inahc
…but silly me put two links in one comment, so, it’ll take a while to appear.
Inahc
or not. ha 🙂

Some excellent,called-for Joyce faces today!
Deathjavu
There’s a different great Joyce face in every panel, it’s perfect.
Mr. Random
Faz seems less prepared. But then again, he did drop all of his charts.
Needfuldoer
Faz keeps a report binder full of charts and chart templates with him at all times.
wwwhhattt
His binder is not full of women yet, but that is his dream.
Delicious Taffy
Always sad to see a kid with no future or hope of improvement.
Reltzik
Yeah, Joe’s in a sorry place.
Deanatay
Joe isn’t actually in this comic – just his voice.
I think Taffy means Joyce.
Sporky
I think Joe has seen Joyce in person enough to know she’s probably never smiling at anything he says.
Liliet
“smug and sarcastic” is what I think he’s seeing
brionl
“Woman of no relation”? Does that mean he knows he and Amber are related?
No Name
He says Amber’s father is his own, so he probably thinks that. Whether or not he knows that is another (false) matter entirely.
Needfuldoer
Wait, could that mean Faz’s biological father is even worse than Blaine? Is that even possible?!
No Name
Well, his mother in the Walkyverse was presumably in the Korean mob, so…
