If the current time still has them in the beginning of Freshman year as of 2010, then this is the dead time before Cataclysm was released. That means there was no raid worth content out then, unless Amber thought she was a much better player then she really is, and is raiding the tail end of ICC.

Just because it’s dark doesn’t mean you get out of work earlier. Likewise we wouldn’t consider it “not evening yet” at 9pm when the sun sets in mid-summer. In the modern age, the clocks rule our lives more than the sunshine (with the possible exception of farmers).
