When I attended the University of Louisiana, there was still a couple of dorms that didn’t have air conditioning. In Louisiana.90+F and 100% humidity. And school started in August.
Needless to say, a) those weren’t popular dorms, and b) people spent a lot of time taking cold showers.

The University of Tennessee still had a few without AC when I was in school, but that was a long time ago. Those were considered the worst dorms on campus, of course, the humidity wasn’t as bad as Louisiana, but still not infrequent 90+ temps and 80%+ humidity. They all have AC now, they fixed that many years ago.
I’m surprised Indiana still has any dorms without AC.

When I was there (2004) there were still some dorms that didn’t have AC. Of course, since then they have completely demolished the dorm I lived in and the one I know didn’t have AC has been turned entirely into offices so *shrug*.

I dunno. Depends where you live, I guess. Being somewhat more northerly, reliable heating and hot water count more.
Honestly, in October, even in Indiana, I’d expect that “cool sensation” to be as likely an open window as AC.
Of course, back in my college days we had no AC. Which was pretty much OK in New England and not in the summer. And the heat was erratic – sometimes requiring sweaters and sometimes throwing the windows open in the dead of winter.

Rose is short due to a partially-expressed variant of the dwarfism gene native to Ecuador, and Beatrice is actually a fifteen-year-old child prodigy. Nash has been protecting these two from all danger like a mama bear since school began.
