    I think I like this Mike a little more. He’s less overtly violent and more subtly damaging. He’s really good at getting under people’s skin.

          If she slept with Ethan, and Mike wasn’t supposed to know, that would mean Ethan told, and I think his reaction would be stronger in the last panel.

    None of them have given off the impression of being in a relationship though (atleast to me). Maybe a now-defunct relationship, or Mike is a voyeur, and Amber keeps secrets.

      I think DoA Amber and Ethan have thicker skin than SP! Amber and Ethan, DoA Mike is occasionally civil because a crucial element of assholery is timing: give them enough time to get up so you can knock them down again. (but nut them while they’re down first.)

        Ummm… yeah, actually we do know he’s gay, Calenderman. His character bio states explicitly that he’s gay. Furthermore, what Amber was shout about “he didn’t know yet” is an obvious reference to the fact he was gay but that he hadn’t realized it at the time of Prom.

      Amber and Ethan went to prom. And shortly thereafter had sex in a hotel room. And a short while after *that* (after prom, before high school graduation) Ethan came out as gay. Mike is implying that while Amber was doing her best, Ethan was thinking of England (specifically those manly men in the tall fuzzy hats).

    Isn’t prom normally pretty towards the end of highschool? If so, seems as if Ethan would have had less time to come out of the closet about it than I would have thought, if she indeed slept with Ethan. As is, I was thinking more it meant she had slept with Mike in high school…could also be that Ethan was drugged, drunk, or something else that would make him forget the act he was in, but I sort of doubt they did the monster mash, both consensually.

      Obviously I don’t know how their fictional high school worked, but my real world high school hosted two proms annually: one for juniors, and one for seniors. So while it might’ve been toward the end of the school year for them, it might not’ve been toward the end of school.

        With further reading after much more awakeness, I realize it’s definitely Ethan she slept with, buuuut..

        Regarding the proms, I know my school had something called a semi-formal which sounds like the equivalent of your earlier prom. It wasn’t as big as prom here, though, and wasn’t ever called it. But, my high school may not be the norm, and they may have been in a place they always called it prom. We were a pretty small and poor public school.

    It seems that Amber knew, and didn’t mind that Ethan didn’t know. Note that she can’t bring herself to say “we didn’t know”.

    In truth, Mike is the champion of good in the world. He’s a paladin in the DND sense. He wields any weapon he can to strike at the evil in the world. Amber took advantage of Ethan’s ignorance, and Mike’s punishing her for it here.

    Nonono. This is parallel to Amber and Ethan doing the horizontal hoedown in Shortpacked. Ethan didn’t know he was gay yet– like in Shortpacked– but was distracted during the act.

    This is why when Amber retorts that Ethan tries to do two things at once, Mike mentions Ethan did this during their lovemaking, and Amber justifies this by saying “he didn’t know yet.”

      No flames, but Mike was pretty much the same asshole before Dina died. The lack of repeated alien examinations probably improved his attitude though.

        I`ve only seen mike show any emotion two times, when Dina hug him and when Dina died, and when Amber punched him (but I dont remember well). And you know that Mike got into the super happy team, etc.
        And he insulted a Martian while that thing was tentacle raping him, thats an improvement

    My entire high school time is best left forgotten as it was a horrific mix of terror and sadness.

    Mike would have probably loved it.

    Went stag my junior year Prom, had my date called a harlot by half the girls at my senior year just because I had an actual date and they couldn’t believe it.

    Ah, the memories.
