If it’s a problem, Dorothy, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you dragged him behind a building somewhere…as long as you put them back afterward.
David Herbert
I think right there and then would also be fine.
TheStranger
“Deany” might’ve had a problem with that one, though. Gotta use SOME discretion.
Mkvenner
It’s not to late to back out Dorothy.
Xartarin
Mike’s plan unfolding?
Ragnal
You seriously think Mike knew about his crush on Dorothy before he bought the pants? Or them getting together, even?
I know Mike’s known to be five steps ahead of the game, but come now. That’s giving him too much credit.
NCP19
So is this the sixth step ahead of the game then?
Rowen Morland
He knew they’d screw him somehow. Like when you drop a penny down one of those veritcle plastic mazes.

It’s like giving a monkey a firearm. You don’t actually know what’s gonna happen but you’re pretty sure it’s not gonna be good.
Random Guy
I like watching them try to figure out how to load the thing.

In this metaphor you are Mike enjoying Walky attempting to slip into his pyjama jeans? Perhaps he was hiding in that lift with Walky and Billie.
MentalMister
Mike is fairly observant, and he probably figured out that Walky at least liked Dorothy. Plus having Walky as a roommate seems to have driven Mike to more calculated social torment.
Your avatar kinda fits with your comment, at least with the expression if not with the character.
TheStranger
Did Mike “out” the licky-style doorway makeout before, or after, he ordered Walky the PJs?
MentalMister
True, but comparatively when did Walky “lose” his prized Monkey Master doll, and have some of his comics mysteriously disappear, and have Dorothy come in late at night to watch cartoons with him.
Basically what I’m saying is that I just re-read from “Throw”(Nov 22, 2010), and Walky has been getting more and more relaxed around Dorothy.
Looking back, he’s not so much five steps ahead of the game, but more “How can I set these people up for social ridicule?”
Aizat
Somewhere, Mike is laughing.

I would be disappointed if this turned out to be a Gambit Roulette.
Plasma Mongoose
I wonder how many hours people have wasted thanks to your TVTropes link? 😀 BWAHAHAHA!
Raiser
HA. I AM IMMUNE.
…if only because enough people have linked Gambit Roulette in other webcomics that I’ve practically memorized the article.
Now, if they’d linked something like Nerds Are Virgins, which I’ve only seen once or twice, then I’d be in troub–

Your avatar makes this amazing.

And your avatar just adds to it!

This just caused a revelation in my brain! The Mike and Ruth duo! They fight crime by making criminals feel shitty about themselves… That, or Mike and Ruth are working together for whatever reason.
Tucker
…Don’t look at me like that.

Yeah, I can see where this is going in the long run.

“BECAUSE THEY’RE PAJAMA JEANS!”

Like you’d need any other reason? I mean…PAJAMA JEANS!

OF COURSE!
(Her question _must_ have been rhetorical, right? RIGHT?)
Wonder Wig
Truth be told Walky, I can’t remember a single thing you were wearing last night.
Joe H
Pajama jeans are a “wear anywhere, anytime” type of pants, Dorothy. Duh.
Sensedog
Am I strange for thinking that there is really nothing wrong with those pajama jeans? I mean, they look like jeans that anyone might wear in public anyway, and at least Walky doesn’t walk around with his pants falling halfway down his ass.
DanielleM
I think it’s really just one of those things that varies. I see a lot of girls/boys walking around my campus in hoodies and pajama bottoms pretty much all the time. I don’t really do that (although if I’m just going to check the mail I might) because growing up I would have never been allowed out of the house like that and old habits die hard. I can also understand Dorothy being the type of person who takes a certain amount of pride in her appearance and expects as much from the person she’s involved with. Walky is obviously the type of person who places little to no importance on appearances and will gladly spend the day in whatever he slept in the night before. That…is a little gross but then again it IS a college campus and from what I’ve seen of my own campus this is just the way a lot of college kids dress. Can it really be that shocking to Dorothy?
Echidnae
That’s certainly true of schools in the Northeast, where I go, and I would guess probably true of the West Coast. However, in the South, college students are verrrry formal. There is an unstated rule that girls should wear dresses to class. Pajamas WOULD be appalling. Maybe Indiana is somewhere in between the two extremes?
Echidnae
Also, I should say MOST schools in the Northeast, not all. I have literally never seen anyone here at Cornell go to class in pajamas (not even engineers!) We wear jeans and a T-shirt at the most casual level, but plenty of girls dress up more than that. So I think expectations probably vary a lot by individual campus culture.
Joe H
Are you talking about Christian colleges? Because the college I went to here in Arkansas, I saw guys and girls going to class in pajamas and hoodies all the time. And this is a school were the head of the art department got suspended or fired or something for allowing nude modeling in the figure drawing class.
Echidnae
Yeah, I’m sure I’m generalizing about Southern schools and there are plenty of exceptions, just like there are formal schools in the North. My point was more that pajamas could be considered an oddity at some schools, let alone pajama jeans.
Aizat
Because he’s Walky?
Leon
Billie might have some work do to after all.
vsophi
I don’t see the problem with pajama jeans. I’m not even being ironic.
Bekah
Appropriate gravatar is appropriate.
Plasma Mongoose
I would have recommend a darker shade of PJ Jeans to go with that hoodie.
Phillip Wilde
Too monochromatic. It’s good to have some contrast.
Plasma Mongoose
But you don’t want clashing colour scenes.
Darksen
Not to be a smartass, but I think you mean “sarcastic”, not “ironic”. I don’t think a person can be ironic on purpose.
vsophi
Have you, um… ever met a hipster?
Bekah
It’s rare that a comic makes me laugh. Well done Willis.
Kernanator
Walky, it’s moments like these that make me wonder whether you are aware of social norms and just don’t care, or if you really are that oblivious.
SkepticJ
I think he is aware, but wonders why anyone would actually care about such things. If he simply didn’t know any better, I don’t think he would have been shamed when Mike invaded their gender studies class and torched him about wearing PJs in the middle of the day.
Scoops!
So now they have an argument and Billie thinks she’s watched them get together and break up in the matter of two minutes.
John Walter Biles
I am stunned that Walky was able to make that leap of logic.
Good for him!
begbert2
Remember, Walky’s actually quite smart.
He’s just smart enough to know better than to care about those silly social conventions.
Uniqueantique
Has anyone seen these things in real life? The jeans pj I saw in the store were pretty flimsy material, and the back pockets were set in way down on the buttocks…I mean way down. You really wouldn’t want to wear that pair out in public. And yeah, Mike is behind it for sure. On about 5 levels. He got Dorothy interested because he knew Walky was sort of interested in Joyce and for some reason, Mike kinda looks after Joyce. Then he managed to set up the scene in Leslies classroom embarassing just about everybody. He also bought Walky the pj’s himself, knowing they’d lead to some deviltry. There’s more, read back and check it out.
GenericScreenName101
I was wearing pajama jeans waaaay before it was cool. They look/feel/are just like regular jeans but I wear them everywhere (indoors & outdoors) that won’t get me fired from work.
DanielleM
Yep this isn’t going to last and I’m not surprised at all. I don’t think Dorothy has the patience for a project and Walky seems pretty set in his ways anyway. This had brief fling written all over it. I mean Dorothy broke up with Danny when? 2 weeks ago. Speaking of Danny I was so sure he’d show up during that kiss and drama would ensue. That being said: Dorothy it’s college you are going to see a lot of people walking around in pajama bottoms and hoodies pretty much all the time. You shouldn’t be that shocked at how he’s dressed.
Echidnae
That varies by campus. I have never seen anyone at my school go to class in pajamas, ever, and I have heard all my friends that go to Southern colleges complaining about the unspoken dress code (dresses, makeup and heels for girls, slacks and a nice shirt for guys). You CAN choose to not wear dresses and makeup (unless you’re in a sorority, where the dress code is enforced), but everyone will assume you’re a lesbian.
AidenRyan
And…. it starts.
Kernanator
“Because I can.”
Plasma Mongoose
Walky is a firm believer in “Yes We Can” but I think Dotty would rather he adopt the slogan “Change We Can Believe In” in this case, his PJ Jeans.
phroggonalog
of course this will last, this is the one universe where there is no head alien, walky does not get with joyce, instead gets with dr. dorothy. the end!
Resne
D’awww. Someone’s aiming for the Paragon ending.
Kernanator
They should go, before Mike Renegade Interrupts them.

Mike is going to pants Walky at one point in those pajama jeans. I can’t imagine the waistband being terribly stable.
