      If you have a 3ds with streetpass on, and you walk by someone else with a 3ds with streetpass on, you automatically trade certain information based on games you have in common. For example, if you both have the game “Animal Crossing: New Leaf”, you’ll be able to see the in-game house of the person you streetpassed.

      Nintendo 3DS thing. If 2 3ds systems that are on and have their wireless on pass by each other they will exchange data and unlock things for certain games and/or 3DS apps on both systems.

      The puzzle piece thing Ethan is talking about is from a mini-game in the Mii Plaza app. Every now and then Nintendo releases a new panel of an image for a game and will give each person 1 random piece (out of 16-40 pieces) from that panel. When you street pass someone else you can pick what panel piece you get from them. Once you get all the pieces from 1 panel you unlock a (sometimes) animated 3d and rotatable image/diorama of that image.

    This isn’t related to the events of the comic right now, but it randomly occurs to me that the title of this arc may be referring to Becky’s inability to get over Joyce. As in, the metaphorical butterflies in her stomach won’t leave.

      Nintendogs had a similar concept (you can put the game in “searching for puppies to play with” mode) so I deduced StreetPass = timesink and social interaction gotcha.

      At first I seriously built like 3/4 of my Norende with my 1 villager by leaving my ds on overnight for weeks. And then I went to a con and got the rest of my village built in a day. @-@

Either that or I’m dropp8n coins tryin to get that one Mii with that once white shirt so that they can use light magic on the room and I can leave… WHY DO I GET SUCKED INTO THESE THINGS SO EASILY??!?!?!?!?

      On the plus side, the invite list was made before the fight, so it won’t look like Joyce wanted Jacob to show up just to appease Sarah. And who knows, maybe he will cheer her up some…poor gal could use it after the beating Joyce gave her.

    Man, I just go into town for my StreetPass hits. I get a lot of ’em as well- although recently there’s been a LOT of Americans. I don’t know why. Tourists I would assume, but my town (while near-ish to London) isn’t a huge tourist destination; nor would I assume it’s a popular time of year for travel.
    A month or two ago there were a couple of weeks when we passed loads of Germans, so it’s not the first time… but it’s still odd!

    (I totally have never ever gone out for the purpose of getting hits nope nosiree)

    Ouch, you know what the worst part of this scene is? It’s the beginning where Jacob is on the invited list. It’s a party of only those Joyce knows well, so that she feels safe, but she invites a man she doesn’t know well. Why? Because she thinks he means a lot to Sarah. Joyce took this risk for her mental well-being in order to do right by her “big sister”, but she’s already poisoned this gesture with her careless words earlier.

    That’s right in the feels there.

      The fact that he’s Ethan’s roomie probably plays into it as well. Pointedly inviting one person in double but not the other was Not Good Form when I lived in the dorms, and Joyce is usually pretty polite. I suspect Sierra would have been invited if she’d been in the room when Becky spoke to Dorothy.

        This is a party about people Joyce feels safe being around, politeness has nothing to do with it./ She’s spent enough time around Jacob to know he’s an okay guy.

          Yeah, but that’s Becky’s intention. She doesn’t know all of Joyce’s social connections here, so she had Joyce make the guest list. And Joyce is the type to put politeness ahead of her own social comfort. Believe me, I know the type.

    I am currently on my last week of campus housing ever, and I only managed to get around to StreetPassing in the past two semesters. I won’t really be able to do that afterwards.

    What I’m saying is, take advantage of StreetPassing when you can. And go for the pink puzzle pieces first, those can’t be gotten with Play Coins.

      Sure, but remember ‘twin’ is an intransitive verb meaning to grow as a composite crystal. “Holy butts, Amber. Do you have need to form two crystals at once, or do you permeate the entire universe?” Becky asks, her words rich in evocative metaphor.

      It could also just be a dialect, I dunno.
