      Your theory could still work. Joe and Joyce start talking, leaving Sarah and Danny to just stand there awkwardly. They avoid eye contact, look around, shuffle their feet. He scratches the back of his neck.

      She clears her throat. “We were on our way to lunch,” she says. “Oh that sounds good,” he says. “I was thinking about a ham sandwich.” “I was thinking some soup and salad, but we don’t have trays anymore.” “No trays?” and then they wander away.

        Actually, my theory was that they don’t even meet at all, like Danny and Joe are in a completely different building than Joyce and Sarah.

    Oh interesting! Joyce x Joe instead of Joyce x Danny o:

    D: oh dear, A shorter and simpler version of this is in “Its Walky!” right before Walky confessed his feelings for Joyce (at least I think thats about the right timeline? Walky x Dina, Joyce x Joe, Walky confession, Walky x Joyce?)…so…this universe will have…the long, complicated panned out version? Or will Joe pass her on to Danny?

    Speaking of Danny, He better at least crack a smile if/when Joe introduces them, because if not he’s gonna blow his chances with the both of them! (Though, that may be his objective?)

      No, it’s kind of completely different. The It’s Walky! JxJ was more about Joyce and Joe growing up in their own ways, Joyce realized that she has a sexuality, and Joe seeing the appeal of an emotional relationship. This JoycexJoe is just going to be Joyce picks a different wrong target for her affections, which leaves JoycexDanny more open for a serious future.

        I’m torn now.

        s: On the one hand: I don’t want SAL x Danny, so if he ends up with Joyce, at least he didn’t end up with Sal, causing this NOT to be the universe Bobby “Machete” Walkerton and his cousin came from…

        On the other: I want Joyce to end up with Walky in the end because they are a freakin’ awesome couple.

          I think Sal just lusted after him…I mean, she LEFT DANNY because she was afraid if she showed Danny her TRUE SELF…he wouldn’t love her…s: Thats…thats not love…at least, not in my book.

          Hmmm, its an interesting notion, Amber x Danny…Its got SOME potential (mind you, Mr. WIllis WILL be chased by an angry mob if Mike does not at least end up with Dina if Amber is out of the picture), but in a “any port in a storm” (as someone in an earlier comic said earlier brilliantly) type of way…If its not rebound, its because Joe forced him to chose between her or Joyce (I love Joyce to death, but, her flaw is that she is overly clingy far too quickly with alarmingly high expectations for a burgeoning relationship)

    I wonder who would suffer more if Joyce and Joe started dating. Joyce because Joe would constantly bug her for pre-marital sex, or Joe because Joyce will NEVER put out for him.

      I doubt he has to bug a person so much as ease her into believing that his goal was totally her idea when it happens. It’s an aspect of charm.

        Maybe with other girls, but I don’t think Joyce would be as easy as one would think to manipulate. She spent her entire life whole-heartedly believing that sex is something only married people do. She also is so naive that I think she would completely miss his attempts at manipulate and assume he’s trying to do something else. Joe is swave, but somehow I don’t see him being able to pull that off with her.

          Naivete tends to make it easier. It’s one more reason people who tend to shelter their daughters are reluctant to send them to college. There are those who say, “College changes people,” as if this was a bad thing.

          As for lifetime beliefs, it’s amazing how poorly purity ring programs work out in high schools. Even anti-smoking campaigns managed by tobacco companies might envy such results.

          I don’t think that’s quite true or fair. There are people who are naive about how other people behave. But if they have their beliefs and they hold true to them, despite what other people try and make them do, they can still retain their innocents and still hold true to themselves.

          Joe can try to corrupt Joyce, but just because she’s naive doesn’t make her an easy target. Joyce will change as a character, but in the end it could be on her own terms, not on Joe’s attempts to get into her pants.

          Naivete relies on ignorance. Virtue does not. Better informed people are more likely to be constant and consistent in their beliefs, even if new information and ideas may cause them to evolve over time.

          But Joyce is both virtuous and naive. She’s very adamant on her religious believes, which she believe to be the only truth and fact. You’re underestimating Joyce and moral strength.

    I just thought how awesome it would be if in this universe Joe was actually all talk 😉

      For some reason, I’m imagining that this would come out in a scene featuring Joyce showing up in his room in the middle of the night in full dominatrix gear. She’d also be carrying all the fixings for a banana split, with the exception of the featured fruit.

      That seems a lot less likely than Joe being all talk, however. The only thing more bizaare would be him winding up engaged to Joyce within the fortnight, followed by them chastely waiting until the end of college to wed.

        That’s Joyce channeling pre-reform Alisyn from Fans with Joe as Rick. It’s not as mind-boggling as it seems especially with the crossover in the Walkyverse. However, that would be Bizzaroverse continuity, so it’s unlikely.

        @Zuche. Thanks for the tip on Epicurus the Sage. It’s in my Amazon wish list now and I’ll buy it later, when the budget allows. (Here’s hoping for Christmas money!)

        Speaking as a descendant of Jews with the very English last name of Sherman, and Christians with multiple very Jewish last names, I refuse to go by last names when it comes to Jewishness. Basically, unless I see him putting meat and cheese on a different plate, or wearing a yarmulke, or just plain saying he’s Jewish, I’m not going to believe it.

    Most interesting would be the fantasy plot line that the reason why Billie and Sal “made tracks” after that one class was to have wild, passionate, monkey sex with each other. Ok, most likely not to happen…but would make for some good fanfic!
