    Considering that he didn’t really seem interested in even talking to Amber until she started muttering geeky things during class I’m going to choose to disbelieve Danny here. I think he’s afraid Joe is right, but is just giving himself too little credit.

      I think you right, there have been many points where Danny would just rationalize things on the spot even if the rational doesn’t fit the facts. Plus…. isn’t people jumping the gun here, I thought the last we heard about someone reciprocating Danny’s feelings was hypothetical conversation about her fears of Danny being in the closet… and his non-ironic love of ponies.

      To be honest, I find that a weakness of this particular Willis comic. Characters are acting way too mature for their age sometimes, in a narrating-myself kind of way, and they seem to switch behaviors without much consistence. That speaks “only happens in webcomics” to me. The loads and loads of drama in Walky! ws closer to my own teenage experience.’m not wishing for the drama tag back, but I have had difficulty thinking of DoA as real people.

      Now I’m not saying that you can’t enjoy a webcomic like say (I’m not gonna name the ones) even though you know that the characters do nothing even passably real, but I do wonder if being, er, older has had an effect on DW’s writing, and what it’d take to avoid DoA becoming one of those “for kids, by adults who think they know kids but it shows” shows.

        In my experience, that was part of life then. One moment you are the immature kid, laughing and goofing off, then the next you’re acting more mature than anyone twice your age has a right to be. It’s all part of being thrust into the real world for the first time, facing its problems alone and trying to learn the balance between the serious and the silly.

          Seriously. Have a certain set of features you tend to find more attractive than others is normal. Danny MIGHT have a point that he’s trying to replace her, but he might just be attracted to the geeky girls in glasses. In fact, if we’re assuming Danny is anything like his counterpart in the original Walkyverse, we know for a FACT that he is SUPER ATTRACTED to girls in glasses.

          I’m inclined to believe Danny is being too hard on himself here–after all, Danny is Danny in any continuity, and Danny tends to be too hard on himself. But who knows, maybe Danny understands something about himself that I don’t; maybe he isn’t into Amber out of some genuine interest, maybe he’s just trying to fill the gaping void in his life that Dorothy left. I don’t think that’s the case, but we’ll see.

          Or maybe we won’t see. One of the two.

          Keep in mind that Dorothy has a little bit of the geekiness too. It’s likely that he factors this in with the things that remind him of her, but really we could just call it a common interest.

          At the end of the day he’s got it all backwards though. Amber isn’t reminiscent of Dorothy any more than my laptop is reminiscent of an old Amiga system. Amber is Dorothy 2.0.

    Well that answers my question about why Danny perused Amber.

    Danny is being over dramatic. Saying that just because Amber left, his life is ruined twice now, is a bit much. Its not like Amber said “never talk to me again” and its not like this was a serious relationship. Especially when Amber was being used for rebound purposes.

    And Dorothy… she’s gotta shut up. While I still agree with why she ended the relationship with Danny, she no longer is allowed to say ANYTHING about his dating life.

    Your all forgetting one major fact though and that is the fact that in the walkyverse Danny and Billie fell in love and even began to hound her when she got glasses so won’t it be possible for the same thing to happen in the doaverse and looking back on past comments Willis will probably do the opposite of what I typed because he’s realized ticking us off about trivial things weved typed makes for good vewing.
