I think it’s just that she realizes she’ll be called to account for not doing the job right. Some criticism she might have a thick skin towards, but I think Carla would take legit criticisms of her legit failures fairly seriously. More seriously than transphobic crap, at least.
As far as my point, I was more thinking that she tends to go balls to the wall in just being a goofball as well (thinking of the parkour or jumping over Mary with the skates). When she’s just futzing around, she pulls off some major skills that require serious coordination and practice and at least with the parkour, it’s hinted that she’s throwing herself into it based on some youtube videos Sal showed her.
