I’d vote for the latter. Which may be a setup for tragedy.
Clif
What I’m hearing is that he wants to reach his goal of doing a comic strip for the newspaper without putting in too much effort and he needs Lucy’s help in doing the part of the work he doesn’t want to.
Gravatar Roulette: A better idea than deals with the Devil. Not much better, but better.

I suppose that’s one way to spin it.

I’m sure if we put our minds to it, we could figure out a scientific answer to the madness. A theory of grav-ity, if you will.
Jamie
As we all know, Willis is at least a step above the Devil.
milu
Above? Below? Beyond? Within?!
StClair
“in the general vicinity of”

Kinda feel like once you get Sal Willis’ll just add a new grav to the roster and start this whole process over again.
Reltzik
That’s a feature. We’ve not been meeting our quotas of DYWs and we need more opportunities to do so.
ktbear
Exactly, I got Jennifer and while I was celebrating Willis messed with things and now look. I mean, its better than Walky but a fictional character in a fictional universe?
Deanatay
C’MON, dude. Even Willis updated his Grav. Is it so hard?
BBCC
Probably not, but gravitar roulette is way more fun. 😛
But does he have any experience with being the object of attraction from someone he was not already attracted to? Is he the standard totally clueless guy in that area?
I could be wrong, but I strongly suspect Walky wanting to spend time with Lucy is gonna win out over his crazy BS reasons for wanting to spend time with her.
Hasn’t stopped single-word titles from being reused before, sometimes multiple times (in such cases, the URL simply has a number after the second, third, fourth, etc. time said word was used as a title).
Lucy!!! are you stealing my idea of having a conversation where I say super basic obvious true things and come off as a reasonable person??!!!
ET TU LUCY???!!!
I believe saying super basic obviously true things usually establishes you as either a wise deep thinking guru or an elitist asshat, depending on what the market will bear.
Honestly I kind of am too. Hopefully it the distraction will help remove this chip off his shoulder he’s had since returning. But it also really hard for me to support this on a moral level with the whole 5 dollars a strip scam. I cannot let that go!
Klinger knew the hustle. Remember the peanut brittle bit from Boxing Day? Or the time everyone thought he just disappeared with the blank pass Hawkeye bribed him with? Honor among thieves.

interesting how Walky went to Lucy for help… she his “Yes Woman”?
Ana Chronistic
HAHA though *I* stole Walky’s idea and made it my own by having DINNER
it’s an infinitely stealable idea
Kyrik Michalowski
I steal your stolen idea by having supper, delicious cream of chicken soup.
Ryek Hvek
I’m stealing the idea of milking chickens so I can make cream of chicken.
Kyrik Michalowski
Does this mean he is aware of Lucy’s attraction and is using it or just that he thinks she’s a good source of help?

(i.e., all of it)
Keulen
I still think Walky probably isn’t aware that Lucy is attracted to him. He seems like the type to attract women without realizing it.
LSDF
And even she knows that noone wants his ideas.
Bogeywoman
I think he thought she’d side with him, but turns out she has more integrity than anticipated
Clif
But she agreed to help.
thejeff
Before realizing what was going on. She may well still help, but she’s not siding with him on the “stolen idea” thing.
zee
Possibly but i think she’s also just his nicest friend.
Kyrik Michalowski
Walky, as much as I try to defend you from your haters, you make it difficult at times.
Why can’t you be more like Carla? Then I’d have nothing but good things to say about you.
Ana Chronistic
I’m trying to imagine Walky, trans robotics genius
…not seeing it ? it’s a specifically Carla blend
Mravac Kid
Walky’s masculinity is just too strong for that. 🙂
All-Purpose Guru
He is kinda being a lazy ass.
BBCC
Lucy, trying to reason with Walky isn’t gonna work when he’s in a state. Points for trying to do it while still being smitten though. 😛

Gravitar roulette GO~
BBCC
Oh, FUCK no.

Hey, gravatar buddies! *high five*

which would be funnier with the correct gravitar.

I’m going to have to start keeping notes.

You might call them Clif notes

That’s not reasoning with Walky. Panel 2 is reassuring Walky, 3 is fact-checking Walky, and 5 is teasing Walky.

Conflicted Lucy is Conflicted.
Pro: Walky wants to spend time with me.
Con: Walky’s crazy BS reasons for wanting to spend time with me.
C.T Phipps
Walky has shown an attraction to Dorothy and Amber (as well as Joyce in another reality).
Lucy assumes this means he likes short brainy women.
But no, my Jason/Walky ship lives on.

I’m inclined to think Lucy thinks Walky secretly wants to spend time with her when, in fact, he wants to very publicly do his crazy BS.

The alt text stole my idea for what I was going to comment!
King Daniel
And you stole my idea of saying that the hovertext stole my idea!
Clif
I stole Anna Chronistic’s idea of leaving a comment.
Clif
Technically, I guess we all stole teach’s idea since they left the very first comment on the first strip. It just seems wrong it wasn’t Anna.
milu
Since when are strip titles more than one occasionally-hyphenated-word long?
crow
He ran out of single words

And yesterday actually

I’ve just realized that I’m kind of rooting for Walky in the comic strip battle. It’ll give him something to do.

Despite Rage
Can be both at the same time…
wise, deep thinking elitist asshat of a guru
… and now I have stretch goals
Sirksome

Is paying Walky $5.00 a strip a scam if Lucy does all the work?
RacingTurtle
Sirksome cheering for Walky! *marks date on calendar*

“This is why as an artist you should never help anyone else and sabotage the dreams of others.” – Actual advice I got as an author
Steelbright
Wow, sounds like the person who gave you that advice had some personal baggage they were unloading on you
C.T Phipps
Later I discovered he’d gotten burned by all the con men taking advantage of would be artists.
Clif
You too can take advantage of aspiring artists. For $1,000. I will show you how.
Needfuldoer
He hasn’t gotten to the “crushing the will of the weak with no remorse” class yet.
