The nice guy act could very well have been a ruse to lure him somewhere more secluded to do the deed.

      What he wants is to watch the light in her eyes fade as she looks up to him and admits that he’s the center of the universe, though he probably thinks he just wants the respect that the good parent he thinks he is deserves.

      Not to presume too much into Willis’ character, but with people like this, it’s generally just “This person belongs to me; I should have complete control over her life and what she does with it.” If she steps out of line, making her miserable is a punishment for the disobedience. What he wants is essentially for her to act like he’s in control. He can complain about lack of spine all he wants; that’s precisely what he’s looking for.

          This covers a thought I had the other day. I couldn’t put together a specific scenario that led to Blaine and Danny meeting Amazi-Girl, but I could see Blaine looking her contemptuously and saying something like, “You’re still playing dress-up as a super-hero, Amber?”

          Then watching the tumblers spinning in Danny’s head finally click and proceeding from there. Preferably with them as a couple and no more Amazi-Girl secrets between them, but that part’s irrelevant to my happiness. It would still be nice, though.

          Unfortunately, if Blaine calls out Amber as Amazigirl, I have a terrible feeling any Amazi-powers will drain away, particularly if he does something like unmasking her. Facing your abuser is a terrible thing; the temptation to revert to the familiar dynamic is overwhelming, and you know, deep down inside (because you were indoctrinated with this knowledge) that you are the one in the wrong, you are the terrible person, and that you need to just straighten out and fly right.

          I don’t envy Amber what’s coming, not one little bit.

    Amber’s on a truck right now. I know this is a fairly realistic webcomic, but just this once would it hurt for her to ride it through the wall and crush Blaine? While she waves a cowboy hat in the air?

    Then she thanks the truck, which turns into Optimus Prime, brofists her, and says “No problem. Freedom is the right of all sentient beings”, then dons the hat and walks away into the sunset?

    I am having some thoughts and wish to share them:

    1) Could Amber possibly be interpreting this conversation as Blaine holding Danny hostage? Or is that too dramatic? Or does level of drama even matter anymore???

    2) So we now understand that Amber changes her voice when she is Amazi-Girl (possibly we knew this before, but I can’t remember). I’m curious how it changes, like in quality. Is it lower, higher, more nasal, etc. Obviously this is not essential information, but I am intrigued. It’s a cool detail that I never thought about.

    Also, depending on how different Amber’s voice is from Amazi-Girl’s voice, it could partially explain how Danny could be so oblivious as to not realize that Amber is Amazi-Girl. But then again, he thinks that Sal is Amazi-Girl even though Sal has a southern dialect (I think?). But maybe I am over analyzing. And by ‘maybe’ I mean yes, I am.

    From the preview on the tumblr, I’m guessing Amber as Amazigirl beats Blaine up, which causes Dorothy to become worried about the Amazigirl situation (Dorothy seems worried in the tumblr).

    Either that or those worried expressions have to do with her relationship with Walky and those comments a few days of weren’t far off the mark. Which wouldn’t be that unlikely, considering the high level of drama in Dumbing of Age.

    Either that, or something different or far craftier is planned by Willis.

      In case you haven’t been reading Willis’s works for the last decade and a half, there’s a reason why he uses @damnyouwillis as a Twitter handle. That was the phrase most used in the forums over at Keenspot, and later at the Nightstar Zoo. Willis is well known for flawed characters who we all fall in love with. Being a fan of the Walkyverse and Dumbingverse means reading too much into the comics. If they weren’t flawed, we wouldn’t enjoy reading so much.

      Besides, you can already see growth in pretty much all of the characters, despite the relatively short time period that has passed to them (has it even been a month yet?). Walky is, admittedly grudgingly, maturing as a person thanks to Dorothy’s influence. He’s dressing better, and taking school a little more seriously. Dorothy is taking school a little less seriously,which she frankly needed to do (all work and no play makes Dotty a dull girl). And even Joyce is doing some growing up. Her best friend is an atheist fer crissake! Danny is due for some growth himself, so I bet Amazigirl is going to be revealed pretty soon.
