        Lmao similar thing when my very good friend (guy, only child) and I (girl, 2 brothers) were playing some form of football/keep away in a pool with some other friends. He got got the ball and seemed to think I wasn’t a threat, then I tackle-dunked him. When he resurfaced he said something along the lines of, “You must have brothers.” Still makes me laugh.

      I am trying to parse whether her response is “We are siblings and I don’t take that sort of lip without hitting you” or “You crossed a line and touched a nerve. I am legitimately pissed off”.

      I am not thinking of a reason why Jennifer would be taking this more seriously than any other Walky snark, but her expression in panel 4 looks particularly enraged.

          Yeah, it’s the first one. He’s grateful for her comfort and support, but he can’t help but Walky things by bombing them for a joke antagonizing her cause it’s comfortable for him. Jennifer retaliates like any older sister would — “You mother *fucker!*” and hitting him.

        My personal experience is that it’s very easy to actually offend and enrage a sibling you’ve been teasing for years, and not always easy to understand what the difference is.

    Walky with martial arts training would probably not be a good idea. Especially if his teacher was Genma Saotome. Of course that can be said of anyone unfortunate enough to train with Genma Saotome.

      Just gonna point out that “It’s Walky” is primarily about Walky having martial arts training and fighting using said training. Also super strength. So it being a good idea, while debatable, is easily tested by reading those archives and judging for oneself.

    But it would be interesting if he actually got hurt, and then is seen by Joyce and/or Dorothy the next day and, unaware of what actually happened, they think they’re partially to blame (like he was heartbroken and wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing).

    Y’know, as far as I recall, Dorothy declared the relationship with Walky to be non-serious, for funsies (tho she may have muddied the waters since). And no discussion has been had about seriousness in the last couple of days, that we have seen. So Walky may have taken her at her word on that.

      Anyway, just saying that Dorothy probably can’t be held to that declaration anymore.

      I was looking back at some other stuff and wandered into the middle of the long section where Dorothy told Walky they were on pause, didn’t even last a day before she ran back and seduced him, and they’ve both said “I love you” to each other at this point.

      And it’s notable that when that “pause” happened, Walky’s reaction was almost exactly the same: binge-eating, performatively declaring his newfound freedom to be a trash gremlin… and immediately falling back into her arms and being sweet to her when the opportunity came up. See for example here for them BOTH being lovey.

      Unless Walky is a complete idiot (which he is demonstrably not), he’s well aware that what Dorothy says and what Dorothy actually feels are quite often not the same thing, as he’s been on the receiving end of that multiple times now.

        Yes to this, but I’d also add that, as far as I recall, Dotty has never backtracked on that declaration of love. It’s always been “I love you and I have some reason why that means I can’t date you somehow.”

          Yup, and almost always that reason has 0% to do with Walky and what Walky wants and 100% to do with whatever Dorothy THINKS she wants in a given moment — in her own trauma-infused way, she’s always been almost as flighty as Joyce can be.

        On one hand, kinda sweet and romantic. On the other hand obviously an immature management of the young love dopamine rush. You don’t build a functional relationship off of one sided worship… and dopamine only carries you so far.

          Somehow it bothers me less when it’s “so I’ll try to make it easy for you to break up with me, if that’s what you need” than when it’s “I know you’ve chosen her over me, but maybe we can stay together too?”

          If you believe that love is a conserved quantity, then you should be bothered. If you believe that someone loving someone more doesn’t mean that they love you any less than they did before, it’s another matter entirely.

          Like Odo said it feels like one sided worship. Like he’ll do anything to stay with her, at least partly. Like it’s low self-esteem driving it rather anything healthier.

      Yeah, I know, muddied waters and all that. But fuck-buddies is a thing. It was even a thing in the 70s, but just not called that. And how much store does Walky set by ‘love’, other than being chary of the word himself?
      Anyway, intersting story, someone I know was in a fuck-buddy relationship and they has arranged to meet at a cafe, one to say that they had met someone they wanted to date so the fuck-buddy relationship was off, thank you very much it was great and you are a lovely person, the other to say they had gradually come to the point where they wanted to change the fuck-buddy relationship into dating and get serious. Dreadful timing. The incident was very much like a DoA plotline. It left a puzzled wait-staffer holding a second cup of coffee, frozen, mid delivery as a punch line!

        I feel like there was an arc or an OAV or something that explored Ranma beginning to identify in a more female fashion when in his female body. But it has also been two decades since I last watched Ranma 1/2, so my memory is fuzzy at best.
