However, I think that holding hands with Sal was a weird and unexpected experience on a par with Joyce being kissed by Becky.

    Basically, panel 3 is Carla opioning that any relationship with Malaya would basically involve volunteering to be abused by her. Whilst I’m not personally certain that’s the case, I do think it’s necessary for Carla to honestly warn Marcie about that if she really thinks that.

        Not really. The last time we had Carla and Malaya in the same strip together, Carla was pretty obviously displaying signs of liking the idea of being humiliated/degraded by Malaya, and now she’s liking the same idea of Malaya being humiliated/degraded by Sal. So to me, it’s fairly obvious that Carla has a humiliation/degradation fetish.

          This really seems like a question of how much overlap these sorts of paraphilias have, because foot fetishes can often have a strong overtone of humiliation or degradation.
