        hey dont worry bruh

        i took actually took my last antibiotic yesterday (making for two weeks of Keflex now), and thankfully they’ve been helping reduce the redness and swelling without any lethal side effects

        of course i also gotta rebuild my gut microbiome as well as iron levels on account of being anemic, and im also underweight now having lost a few pounds, but at least cannabis and ice packs still work to mitigate the worst of the pain

      …. I think that may be a wee bit too snooping for Dina to have figured that sort of thing out, who in the building gets pain meds and doesn’t actively require them to function on a daily basis… or at least also doesn’t hate the gays and or does stuff Dina totally judges them as a bad person for.

      Because the other sort of source for that kind of thing would be uh, the illegal trade, and right now the illegal pain med trade is, I’m pretty sure, verrrrrrrrrry dangerous especially for those with day zero chemical tolerances, due to the absolute proliferation of cheap as cheapo Fent in their production.

      I don’t know about pain med knockoff pills specifically but I have seen recent documentaries of how it’s creeping into ecstacy supply from Amsterdam, and acid supply from similar places.

          Backing up what NGPZ said above, going by what we can see of her wound, such as in this strip ( https://www.dumbingofage.com/2025/comic/book-16/01-not-so-smooth-criminals/civvies/ ) I’d say it definitely is an area that would be touched by the waistband. Although it is sealed with surgical glue, it’s still a very sensitive area.

      I have a friend that is allergic to many pain meds (from anesthesia to ibuprofen as far as I know of). The pain that she can withstand always amazes me.

      You may amaze yourself someday, though getting there is no fun. After some painful injuries, numerous kidney stones, and a catastrophic internal surgery followed by peritonitis, my pain threshold is stretched much farther than it was when I was young.

      Do we know how Amber currently experiences AG-time? Is she asleep, and gets filled in later? is she kinda watching from the back seat, able/unable to comment?

      Because, Amber might strongly prefer that AG did not get her into this much pain and difficulty today.

    The pain meds have worn off, she climbed through a window, and climbed up to Walky’s bed. Amber is one tough cookie, but eventually that stuff catches up with you.

    Now would be a good time to call Dina, and get Amber some more pain relievers. The questions are: Does Walky know Dina’s number? And has Amber made things worse by climbing around?

      She certainly hasn’t improved them, but neither would being caught by the cops.

      Walky probably has Dina’s number or can get it easily. What he doesn’t have is the knowledge that Dina has drugs that could help Amber.

      Just feels so weird to introduce the police raid as this serious, dangerous thing, and then have the cops act as bumbling comic relief. Feels like there’s a lot more tension that could be wrung. But the whole sequence might not be done, so I’ll reserve judgement for now.

        Yeah. It felt like the soundtrack went from Jaws to Yakity Sax. I don’t mind when a looming threat ends up not being as bad as the build up when that build up is carrying some narrative weight. So if this leads to some good screen time for Walky and Amber, I won’t complain too loud. I’m just a little afraid that this will end up being another case of “Gosh these two sure do have some issues to work through. Maybe they will someday. Anyway, here’s JoyDot.”

    Backtracking through the comments, the cops storming into the girls’ dorm and searching through closets without a search warrent (assuming they don’t have one)? Isn’t that grounds for a lawsuit?

      judging by their behaviors they seem to have a warrant for the girls dorms at least since they entered the women’s dorms for searching but they have not been seen entering the men’s dorm rooms. The only evidence of no warrant at the moment is that they didn’t show it to Ruth but since she’s just a TA and not the person in charge of said dorm they don’t really have to show it to her if they already have permission from the school owners since she doesn’t really have much power in the dorm beyond minor conflict resolution and reporting any worse issues up to the higher ups.

        I feel like there are too many individuals’ privacies for a single warrant to cover all of them.

        Their probable cause to violate everyone’s privacy – because that’s essentially what a warrant is, a state sanctioned right to violate personal privacy – is, at best, AG has been seen going in and out of Read Hall on several occasions months ago (she stopped being a vigilante sometime during the time skip) and possibly a couple times recently.

        They don’t even know who lives in the rooms, what they look like, or really what AG looks like (despite the fact that only a handful of characters that have appeared in the comic even approximate her appearance).

        And the privacies they’re violating include (potentially) a daughter of tech billionaires, a sister of a former US congresswoman, a Canadian foreign national, the stepdaughter of a doctor, and the daughter of a Karen who used to be married to a dean of the university, among who knows how many other prominent families.

        If they actually have a warrant that could save them from being sued, I’ll be surprised.

          Agreed, IANAL, but this feels like a really shaky emergency warrant at best, probably given by a judge on the take.

          Plot twist: Carla gets sassed by the cops and pretends to be AmaziGirl because it is an easier way of confessing too her parents than telling them.

          depends on the scope of the warrant. The probable cause in this case would be “A woman in a superhero outfit assaulted several police officers and was seen by witnesses going to Read Hall” and the search warrant would allow them to search that specific building for proof tying one student to Amazi-girl. Which would be her costume. That would be the scope of the warrant and schools usually have privacy things that allow them to search dorm rooms for rule violations. So the school could give permission to search but only for that costume.

          It’s a legal question we’ve seen various takes on since this started, but you’re mixing up two separate things here. If the law treats the dorms as school property and allows the school to access or grant access, then the cops don’t need a warrant, they just need the school’s permission. Just like if you let the cops search without a warrant, they don’t need one.
          If the school doesn’t have that right, then they’d legally need a warrant and getting one to search what’s essentially an entire apartment complex based on someone saw an alleged criminal going into a building is a bit of a stretch.

        Narratively speaking though, it seems like the purpose of having Ruth bring up the warrant and be ignored was to establish that they didn’t have one. Yes, theoretically maybe they didn’t have to show it to her, but that would have been the place to establish it was legal.

        And just practically speaking, in a scenario like this, there’s got to be some requirement to make it clear you’ve got a warrant and what it allows. Whether that’s show it to people on the scene or have someone from the school with authority who’s seen the warrant come with them.
        When the cop’s trying to get into my room, how do I know whether they’ve got the legal right to do so or not? If I let them in, that’s giving them permission, even if they don’t have a warrant.

      I think this is a surprising instance where Linda could actually be helpful. We know she is litigious, and I could absolutely imagine her suing the school for giving police access to search her daughter’s room.

      Booster would probably just have said that Amber was a friend, and probably imply that there is something going on between her and their roomate, and then probably start cold reading the cop.

      OTOH, they might have a different sort of response for cops, IDK.

It’s absolutely true, it’s a reasonably innocuous explanation, and it hints at greater depths of Teenage Drama(tm) that tht cop doesn’t care to hear about.

    Ooh, smart on Ambers part. I have fibro, and a smooth playing video game you know well ESPECIALLY WITH GOOD MUSIC can be a reaaaaaaaly useful aid for that. And her mentioning booster makes me realize she picked a good room. Both occupants know her, and care about her. They’re both likely to be able to navigate a talk with the cops (as we just saw) without panicking.

          Now that’s interesting.

          Why make the weapon something that not only are not issued to the police, but would be less effective at subduing a target than the standard issue riot gear?

          Like, a knife has less range than a baton, takes more skill, and against a trained hand-to-hand attacker can be disarmed and rhen used against you. You dont *need* a knife to communicate “corrupt police that dont play by da rules” and in this context it suggests tht there was another element involved.

          Why do a cut, instead of a grazed bullet, or some broken ribs?

          Also, we know little of what actually happened. This is like leaving prime flashback material.

          I figure, theres a few possibilities. From least likely to most:

          1. Evil unnamed policeman used a knife cause he’s evil. Dull, predictable, nonsensical, just used for cheap shock.
          2. Environmental damage. AG got hit, tripped, etc and had something sharp stab. Not likely from the location, narratively disappointing, but more plausible than #1.
          3. An extra, unknown presence we don’t yet know about. We are very short on named “big bad” antagonists. Blaine and Ross are dead. Mob presence is a thing, and has ties to the police; university is being set up as an antagonizing force. Is it crazy to suggest campus security, or even non-security faculty? Plenty of people out there might want AG dead.

          Eventually AG is going to surface again. Seeing as Amber doesnt remember the attack, itll be interesting to see what she says.

          AG may be having some manner of internal crisis from realizing that she probably owes a mob debt due to how Sal got her life saved. She’s a morally black-and-white character in the first place, and beyond that, owing powerful criminals a favor is a huge problem when you are entirely unwilling to compromise your own moral code.

          Though we haven’t seen AG since before the kitchen doctor scene. If she’s gone away or cut ties with Amber, it might have been earlier and she’d be unaware of that.

      Assuming Amber has DID (as do I), times of high stress can reduce the efficacy of communication, and I’d imagine that drugs don’t help either.

      Yes, definitionally I’d say so. Shielding a target of the police through misdirection and non-violent means would definitely count as passive resistance. Not all of us can knee a cop in the face… but all of us can adopt the “if you see something no you didn’t” attitude

        If you want to scale a building with a fresh surgical wound, you’re actually better off being dangerously high while doing it. Pain makes it hard to concentrate on not dying far more than the pain pills impair you, and at least if you fall, you’ll be more relaxed when you land.

    The DS which Amber played Mario Kart DS on with Danny, which later metamorphosed into the 3DS that Sal played Mario Kart 7 on, which later further evolved into a Switch that Amber and Walky played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on, has now mega-evolved into the Switch 2 that Amber is playing Mario Kart World on in order to keep herself conscious.
