      Still, I’m very interested to see how this will play out. No matter how scandalous, if Robin and Leslie wind up together in this universe, Robin’s realization/coming out story is going to be rather different.
      I’d say Robin’s probably still unawares, so it’s going to take an impressive achievement by Roz for this to come into play very soon.

    Wow, I wasn’t expecting that to be mutual. In Shortpacked, Leslie went through a long period of seemingly-unrequited passion before Robin started treating her as more than an accessory. It seemed like her ardor gradually won Robin over. Congresswoman Robin has no obvious use for her, and hasn’t had time to start depending on her, and yet here we are.

    Les in this universe seems a lot stronger and more confident, in general, and has a job that commands greater respect. That might have something to do with it: it’s more flattering when the person crushing on you is a well-liked gender studies professor than when she’s a grocery clerk with no apparent social circle.

      I think differences between DoA and SP! Robin’s reaction to Leslie may have more to do with Robin’s apparent state of development rather than Leslie’s. Given the realization that Robin had a crush on Amber, this makes her rejection of Leslie and fruitless chase of Ethan seem like an elaborate and Robinesque denial of her own sexual desires (maybe as a unconscious reaction to her father’s legacy).

      This is a universe where Robin wasn’t abducted by aliens and forced to deploy as a member of SEMME. Maybe in this universe, she may actually have enough time and growth as a person to accept that she is a (closeted?) bisexual/lesbian and to have at least partly overcome the sexual repression she might have had as a result of her family life. (Assuming Mr. Desanto is also an ass in DOA.)

      Sexual repression for Robin seems particularly likely when you consider that Roz has basically adopted a opposite life choice, which in my experience is typical for siblings (that they diverge in their reactions).

    I wonder if all the people who are all ‘No no Roz don’t scheme don’t embarrass Leslie’ realize that if Roz does *not* scheme to embarrass Leslie, then it seems highly probable that Robin would walk out that door and never see Leslie again. It’s not like they ever ran into each other previously, and it’s not like Robin will go out of her way to visit scandal/Leslie upon herself in election season – and by the time that ends, this moment of attraction will be just a memory, if there aren’t interim reminders at the least.

    If you like Robin+Leslie, you should be banking on Roz pushing them together with the aim of ruining Robin’s political career. ‘Cause I’m not seeing any other way for your desired end to happen.

      I seriously doubt Roz wants to blackmail Robin – methinks she would rather have Robin out of politics entirely. She probably thinks that politics is making Robin a bad person (with some justification, based on the past few strips) and probably thinks that destroying her political career would be a good thing for *both* Robin and herself.

      The probably is just seeing Leslie as a tool in this though – collateral damage. Though if Robin really does get together with her in the long run it might work out anyway.
