      I’m having similar thoughts. I agree that they’re right to take things slow because neither one of them is experienced in having a romantic relationship, but like…the formality and hangups around everything can get exhausting. Yes, not every touch is sexual, but some are and that is okay. Having to, like, vet every stage/aspect of relationships through the friend group (instead of God, in Joyce’s case) is tiring. You can make your own choices, it’s okay if your friends don’t approve, and not everything has to be meticulously examined and signed off on in triplicate. I get that that’s kind how things are in Gen-Z dating culture and I don’t actually hate it, I think learning the importance of consent and communication is stellar, but also sometimes you can just bone. It’s okay. Buuuut who am I to really be upset at how any given couple/person/generation sublimates their anxiety about Fucking It Up through the use of arbitrary rules. So I agree they should just do it already but I get why we’re not there right now too.
