Honestly as someone who lived in a single at the end of the hall my last semester, it’s pretty straightforward to me. It is REALLY EASY to isolate yourself in the dorms when you’ve got a single that’s out of the way like that. You might see people in the halls or the bathroom, but you don’t have a roommate to share the space with who might, therefore, want that space to themselves (under circumstances that are hopefully equitably negotiated.) That means you’ve really got no reason to hang out in the common areas. Add exaggeration for joke, and voila, you have Joyce and Walky reacting to the end of the hall like it’s incredibly haunted, because they never really encounter these people.
I had a single in the middle of the hall, but before that, I shared with someone on the end unit. It sucked bc we were DIRECTLY above a loose pipe that intermittently banged VERY LOUDLY against the wall until I discovered this and filled in the gaps with insulating foam

I prefer to simply believe that Sal’s smart enough not to ride her (extremely fast) motorcycle when the weather is below freezing. It’s all fun and games until you find the puddle that froze and have to replace your pants due to street burn, or worse. I have and ride a small Harley to commute to/from work, and those are the rules I live by.
Living in Northern Virginia, I get more ride time than further North and West, but still, temps hovering about 32 degrees F and I drive. Even going slow, having the bike slide out from under you is not fun, and picking it back up solo in the slippery is worse.
Although, this is Fuck You Willis and all of that ^ is real life and not very popcorn-ish enough….
