Yes, it started years ago, but I’ve noticed many a Mr Willis comment saying it’s constantly set in the present, meaning things that happened 2 months ago comic time happened 2 months ago our time, even if that means it happens later & later “real world date” time…

          I re-read Orion Fury’s reply and realized that I was replying under the assumption that we’re talking about dealing with the next presidential cycle in real life.

          I do think that’s what I was talking about. There is a storyline running where in their November there’s a vote due to occur, not necessarily for President though, that’s on our end. But by the length of time it takes for the comic to get to said voteing time, I wonder if it’ll be time for our next Presidential voting cycle.

      Burial at sea means your body is dumped in the water (possibly wrapped in your hammock, if you’re an old-timey sailor). I imagine you’re usually already dead at that point but I guess you could do the cement shoes thing, or die of drowning, the ocean doesn’t mind.

      Burial at sea has been done several ways over the years. The most common nowadays is to just have a cremation and spread the ashes over the sea. Other ways have included being imolated on a boat cast out to sea (a la Vikings) or to wrap the body in either a large flag of the individual’s country of origin or segment of sail, weigh it down with rocks inbetween layers of the resulting cloth cocoon and drop it overboard and let it sink.

    Prediction is that Leslie will attend Robin’s attempt to hussle up voters and Robin’s spectacularly poor research will fail to realize that she’s got a suicidal bisexual student employee, a school shooting by a psychotic homophobe parent, and all of this being pointed out by a lesbian staff member. I predict truly epic levels of fumbling rather than Trump success because Robin WON’T double down on the hate.

      I believe the opening of this chapter confirmed Robin is aware of the Toe incident. As for Ruth, I fail to see why this would be relevant to the campaign at all. She was just taken to the health centre this afternoon/evening. Leslie doesn’t even know – the only people who would at this point would be members of their hall (+Becky and Walky), plus the RM and maybe some others involved in student housing. It’s possible her professors have been notified by email (though at this point may not have seen it), but we have seen nothing to indicate that Ruth had a class with Leslie.

      It’s possible she ends up finding out tomorrow if someone mentions the incident in Gender Studies. Less likely imo she would consider it significant or proper to mention to Robin. Impossible for her to mention to Robin tonight.

When it first came out, everyone was annoyed at how ridiculous and stupid it was that everyone would abandon a major metropolitan city to a natural disaster. Then Katrina happened and it became prescient satire. The same for Robin and the Dark Lord of New York’s overpriced real estate.

    Okay, WE know Robin is an okay person, but this version of Leslie doesn’t know ANY of that. At best, she knows she’s a self-serving politician. Heck, even we can’t really be sure about this version of Robin, since she seems significantly different from her Walkyverse incarnation (how did she get elected without her super-speed and some sort of sugar singularity?).

    Is Robin really just supposed to be THAT hot? Is Leslie really THAT desperate?

    (Was checking to make sure IU didn’t have restrictions placed on teachers found at political rallies for candidates cause I know as a high school teacher I’m prohibited by my superiors from expressing political opinions to students, especially with regards to specific candidates).

        I think he’s her general election opponent though? Since it’s October in-comic, we’re probably past the primaries. (Though as presumably a D running in what’s apparently a pretty conservative district despite IU, he could still be a fairly conservative candidate himself)

        At least on the occasions when this comic is set in an even year. In an odd year it’s over a year away from the next House election, so Jake could be either a primary opponent or the only declared candidate for the other party.
