Gosh-darn it for the modern fossil fuel industry ruining the perfectly good curse word “fracking!”
marianne
On the other hand, it does mean they can’t object if you say “those frackers are fracking up the planet”!
SgtWadeyWilson
Yeah, if anything, they just gave the word real-world bad connotation. Seems like that’d make it more like a real swear word, but that’s just my opinion.
2010? I mean, I don’t often find myself using euphemisms instead of outright swearing anymore except around my parents, but “eff” is kind of the go-to. I mean there’s a ton of other euphemisms if you’re using “fuck” to refer to sex, but the way Joe’s using it? Pretty normal, I’d say.
Enough time has passed. Time to make those euphemisms into Retro Euphemisms. If they can make remastered version of games that came out just a couple years ago we can consider 7 year old fake swear words to be retro!
I beg to differ. It’s more like he’s gone from Danny 1.4 to Danny 2.0.
The new user interface takes some getting used to, and is kind of awkward and clunky, but it’s still a noticeable improvement over the original.
And under the hood, there’s a lot of junk code that needs refactoring and/or re-architecting. But that’s what iterative development is for.
Needfuldoer
Always wait for a couple patch cycles before you upgrade DanOS. There’s almost always a zero-day exploit or serious interface flaw that slipped through QA.
davidbreslin101
You’re lucky you missed Danny 1.8 with the godawful “function tiles” business. AND he used to crash while booting up every other time. It was like Danny Vista all over again.
Yeah, though when you don’ tell have to go to class the same time every day, you have some leeway on sleeping hours. Some weekdays you don’t have to do anything
College was when I discovered that I could stay up ridiculously late and wake up late too if I wanted to, and my sleep schedule has never been the same since.
It’s really frustrating for me. Ever since college I’ve been naturally nocturnal biologically, but psychologically it wrecks havoc with me. Brain still doesn’t want to do actual work-like stuff after about 6PM no matter when I woke up, and I just feel like crap. I’m so much happier and get so much more done when I wake up at 6AM (and sleep appropriately), but I need to drag myself every morning and one night up late to a book or video game or what have you snaps me back onto nights.
My understanding is that people like dunking on original-continuity Danny because the story keeps telling you that he’s a Very Good Boy and centering a lot of the narrative around that (e.g. Sal’s ‘he’s the only person who truly loved me for who I am’ deal), but doesn’t actually give him traits that would make him a Good Boy. So making fun of Danny for not earning his Goodest Boy status in the narrative became a comments meme, and then that snowballed, as these things do.
In this continuity, Danny genuinely is a Pretty Good Boy who has redeeming qualities, so it’s a pretty jarring contrast.
GoblinScribe
Old Danny (in Roomies) was the classic “enabler Nice Guy who does nothing to confront his shitty sexual harassing friend and in general is very self-involved and self-righteous” archetype. New Danny: Actually nice, but still fun to hate on. ;D
StClair
Also, new Danny reminds a lot of people of all the ways they were dumb at his age.
geno
I get the dude had flaws, but comment section made him out to be a super villain. The dude could be on panel with Mary and other eldritch abominations, and some how he was worse. He isn’t perfect, and I think that’s okay.
thejeff
The problem in the old Roomies! was that his flaws weren’t really acknowledged in the story. He was the self-righteous Nice Guy enabler and that was presented as a Good Thing.
It’s one thing to have the acknowledged villain on panel doing villainous things, another to have the hero being a jerk without any acknowledgement that he was doing anything wrong.
StClair
Mostly because young Willis had no awareness that it was.
thejeff
Absolutely. Which is why reading his comments on the rerun of the old stuff is so great.
Look, if you’re reading this thing and thinking “what the fuck dude,” I am right there with you.
That picture where Batman wields the ukulele as a club and chases after Superman who’s on a unicycle playing a bagpipe with flames coming out of it is pretty nice, though.

Danny and Dorothy have surprisingly similar coping behaviors
Also, Joe can’t throw any shade at Joyce for silly fake swears, nobody’s said “eff” as a euphemism for “fuck” since, like, 2010
Doctor_Who
2009. That’s when Fantastic Mr. Fox came out, and we all started saying “cuss” instead.
“What the cuss” and “clustercuss” have become permanent additions to my lexicon.
Fire_daws
Fantastic Mr Fox came out in 1970 thank you very much. Kids these days, they wouldn’t know things existed unless there’s a film about it.
ValdVin
Your avatar makes this 10x funnier.
Do you have punnitis, like the actual Claire?

Bit of a vixen about it sometimes.

Oh my god, that’d be fantastic XD

I still use effin.

So do I, but seeing it written down like that makes me want to try “Elfin” instead.

I have started using “fuckity”. Only because I think it is funny.

Let’s not forget, we are also looking at New Joe. At least for a week.

A different large member of the cast. Different hair cut. Use to date Amber, before he came out.

Last we saw, Danny was passed out with his head in Ethan’s lap. So, presumably, Ethan took care of him.
Meanwhile, depending on what time Joe got up on Saturday, Joe’s been up for maybe 30 hours straight.

Kinda liking “new Joe” so far, however.

So, Danny’s Ukelele and the picture of Batman on the wall made me google “Batman Playing Ukelele”. Results were kinda underwhelming, actually.
