      At least this is legitimately a case of ‘right impulse, bad execution’? For Robin as she’s been shown in the strip thus far, this marks some genuine character growth–she’s now at least considering other people.

      She still has a lousy ‘theory of mind’ (the ability to perceive a situation from someone else’s perspective, and understand that what they want might be different from what you want and believe), but she’s trying.

    I don’t know. How sure are we Ross is even still at large right now? Like nothing has happened after that whole fight cliffhanger so this might all be an overreaction.

      Hijinks are basically promised.

      Assuming she got word through some official channels, if they were back in custody, she’d have learned of that as well.
      Of course, AG could have just killed them and stashed the bodies, which she wouldn’t know about.

        Yeah, that… basically sums it up, in a lot of Robin’s storylines. (Hanging out in someone’s home and refusing to leave, bringing on a paparazzi swarm is totally fun and goofy, and not incredibly creepy and violating!)

    Well, Robin and Joyce have similar ideas about deciding what’s right for Becky without informing or consulting her.

      Though Joyce got over it in about 5 minutes. It’s an understandable impulse, as long as you overcome it.

      Yeah, Becky’s agency is getting thoroughly trampled in this storyline. That can’t possibly cause any blowback!

        Trampling agency is what Robin does. I’m not sure she recognized that other people have any.

          Joyce also wanted to shelter Becky from knowing Ross is out of jail “for her own good” only a few strips ago, but at least she came around.

      I mean Robin is a congresswoman. I know she’s a bit of a joke and our political climate leads most to believe are politicians don’t do anything but Robin actually has surprising amount of power and a personal interest in this situation. It would be quite easy for her to find out. She might have even been able to keep Ross in jail if she’d cared enough to try.

        You don’t really even need power to find out if someone posts bond. That’s pretty much always public information. She could probably just have an alert set up for it.

    This is possibly the strip in which we’ve seen Robin at her best so far: caring, looking out for the people around her, and making quick, decisive, proportional decisions.

    And while wanting to keep Becky safe and also not wanting to worry her sounds good on paper – she’s also being short-sighted, underestimating her, patronising her… And if Becky freaks out because she is aware she is being followed by strangers, potentially making the situation worse. Y’know, beyond the whole hiring an adult to do an adult’s job then treating them like a child betrayal of trust thing…

      And meanwhile, show Joyce the exact issues ‘not telling Becky’ would imply, with added Weird Stranger Dudes following her around which she’s clearly noticing and will not trust at all!

    This is good and all even if Becky may be safe that doesn’t mean everyone else is since Becky wasn’t the only target. If Blaine and Ross can’t get to Becky then they’ll just go after someone close to her and use them to draw her out. Chances are it’ll be either Joyce or Dina, most likely Dina since she close to both Becky and Amber.

    Those two guys reminded me of a moment in the Arnold Schwarzenegger film “Red Heat.” In the film, Arnold plays a Soviet soldier sent to Chicago on a case. There, he is teamed up with Jim Belushi, hijinks ensue! At one point, he shows up in a badly fitting suit and exclaims; “Ah am undeh covah!” Belushi’s response? “You look like Gumby!”

    OK, this is making it less and less plausible that Mike actually died. I know it’s still possible – to DYW all things are possible – but it would take some explanation.

    If a body had been found, it’s really implausible that Robin would not know about it.

    … But it’s quite plausible that Robin would know, and not have mentioned it and/or made the connection.

    … Still, that wouldn’t solve the other mystery: What did Amazi-Girl do after Mike fell?
    1) She didn’t turn into Amber, because Amber doesn’t remember anything.
    2) She didn’t fight the Evil Dads and lose, because Amber’s not beat up.
    3) She didn’t fight the Evil Dads and win, because Toedad would be in jail again.
    4) She probably didn’t run away and notify authorities, because Robin would probably have heard.
    5) She didn’t become totally non-functional, because Blaine would have done something horrible to her.

    All I can guess is that she, as Amazi-Girl, made a strategic retreat… then Amber took over, and didn’t remember anything… leaving the Evil Dads free to remove Mike (dead or alive)… in which case we may have to wait until Amazi-Girl comes back for our next clue.

      3a) She snapped when Mike fell, and nobody’s found the bodies of the Evil Dads yet. Which would also provide AG with a reason to keep hiding in Amber’s head without telling her what was going on.

      I know, that’s probably the lowest-probability outcome, but a man can dream…

    So close, Robin… So close, and yet so far. 😛 If you REALLY didn’t want to tell Becky the truth for the security, you should have just said “Kid, this is just standard practice. ALL political employees at this level have security details assigned to them, just in case.” (Which, btw, is true. Past a certain level, you WILL need security around to provide a buffer against extremely angry political opponents/voters, or just wacko nutjobs packing a gun or other weapon. There was a recent case in Indonesia where a high-ranking minister got out of his car to do the typical meet-n-greet your constituents thing and some crazy just ran up to him and stabbed him with a knife.)

    my problem is, that as body guards they’re too far away to prevent an attack. Toe-Dad is built like a tank, he may or may not BE fit, but his inertia once moving could do some damage before two or three could stop him.
