          the problem with the translation is that it’s translating plot as in a piece of land and not as the driving force of a story. To get the correct translation you’ll have to substitute plot simply for story, and then the translation will come out better. This is the main problem when you try to translate English into other languages. we have too many meanings for one word.

          Incidentally, I believe the original english IS about a plot of land. I think it is supposed to be a physical metaphor about how the land appears differently from the other side of a fence, as opposed to standing in your plot and looking to the other side. It just seems like it should be a story plot because we’re reading a comic, so it doesn’t feel as relevant the other way, but it actually makes just as much sense. It’s about not being able to see in the other person’s shoes (from their POV) thus causing a distortion in perception.

          The 180 degree rule only applies within a scene (and in some cases only within a shot-to-shot transition). By going back to the inside of the room for the Walkerton family bit, Willis reset his angle.

          But even so, the time we see Blaine immediately prior to this is in one of those “buffer” angles mentioned in the wiki article. So there’s both a scene in the middle and a helper transition. You know, doubling up just to be safe.

        I think I probably would have gone with a “camera” down the hall ahead of the running folks some.

          I didn’t like that, because I wanted to keep consistent the energy and momentum of the action lines. It would cloud what is otherwise a very simple idea. One girl sees another, they have mirrored reactions. Orchestrating the strip like a stage play was way more preferable than a technically-accurate quagmire.

      I read it as Billie looking vaguely backwards in thoughtful reflection of what she’d just glimpsed, as opposed to looking left or right in particular. Plus at the speed they’re currently going, Sal wouldn’t be so much to the left or right as simply ‘behind’ by the time we got to panel 5, and if Sal took as much as a single step out unto the hall to watch them go, then looking backwards over either shoulder would be equally effective.

        Can I just point out how idiotic “rate of speed” is?
        Rate is best defined as the change of a value over time. Speed is how fast something is going, or, if you wish to get technical, the rate of distance over time. If you have a rate of speed it means your speed is altering, so you are accelerating faster or slower.
        I almost invariably hear this phrase used to refer to a static value of velocity. In your comment in particular, you detail a rate of a rate of a rate. /pedantism

          But assuming the Rate is Zero it doesn’t change. Rate of speed is technically correct so long as we assume the rate is zero. Of course there’s no proof Billie is not accelerating and descelerating around corners or some shiz.

    Day after tomorrow:
    Panel 1: Blaine, Billie, and Sal landing in a heap at the foot of the stairs, birdies circling their heads.
    Panel 2: Amber’s mom and Joe’s dad show up.
    Panel 3: ???
    Panel 4: PROFIT!

      Eh, I don’t know. My instinct is that Richard can take him in a fight, especially if he’s injured/disoriented, but I don’t think it would be good for Stacy to interact with Blaine.
