      I challenge you to find a single pair of siblings of similar age that never play-fought. My bother and I did it all the time when we were younger. He always seemed to be the more aggressive between us, but because I was the slightly older one, I could take pretty much everything he could dish out.

      It did annoy him when he was actually mad at me though, considering that I could never stop laughing whenever he tried to hit me. (It wasn’t intentional, I was just ticklish.)

        We had a game called Crush Me, the object of the game is exactly what it sounds like. It worked because the bigger sibling, who was getting crushed/wrestled, was responsible for the safety of the littler one(s) who were crushing him.

        In college I encountered my first Only Child. When I playfully kicked him off a bed, we were both shocked and confused; he was like, “why did you kick me?” and I was all “why’d a kick make you fall?”

      My sister and I, a year and a half apart, never fought. In fact none of my four siblings and I ever so much as wrestled. It just wasn’t done at our house.

      She and I would play elaborate games together with our toys, though. We got along fine, and punching wasn’t part of it.

        And other times we would just all get into a room and have an every-person-for-themself wrestling match until our mom started yelling at us.

        My siblings and I make up for you. We had a war of escalation. We were always super-punchy, largely due to a pretty rough time when we were packed 12 people to a double-wide. My little brother became a Gold Gloves boxer, my sister a powerlifter, and I’m now a veteran martial artist. We no longer hit each other, like Mutually Assured Destruction.

        My tomboy sis was almost 3 years younger and our fighting was mostly verbal. At times it included pushing and shoving and even hitting each other with pillows, but not so much on the punching because you don’t hit a girl and I guess she followed my lead. There was quite a bit of it because when I was bored I would entertain myself by annoying my sister. Well I guess she punched occasionally in our late teens but never so hard I couldn’t ignore it. Once we were no longer living in the same house we got along famously and she turned out to be a pretty cool person.

        That Walky and this one are pretty fundamentally different characters, so I’m not certain what kind of situation could prompt it. This one is just kind of a goofy, spoiled kid, while Walkyverse!Walky used that goofiness to bury a frightening amount of rage, and things broke when he let it out.

          Well, they are and they aren’t. If this Walky was faced with circumstances which led to a frightening amount of rage, he would totally stick it behind a wall of goofiness. Same person, kind of, at different ages and molded by different circumstances. But there is an inner core of Walkyness.

      Desperado is a song about some guy that needs to let somebody love him… “before it’s too late”. So Walky’s semi-jokingly telling his sister she needs to open up and let people get to know her or she’s going to be a lonely person.

      Unless you’re talking about the “PHRASING” thing. That’s because Sal’s “small package” comment could be construed as saying she has a tiny dick.

    Siblings do this sort of thing, most I know anyway. My brother and I were close right up through adult hood. Doesn’t mean we didn’t trade off a punch now and then as kids, along with trips, rug burns, and stupid practical jokes.

    I hope Sal goes, at least for the free meal, and it can’t hurt to see what exactly Dorothy has to say.

      It’s not the plus side, it’s kinda what he should have done, since, as we can tell, Sal would not have wanted him to tell.

      And I still say he didn’t lie. He just didn’t give out any extra information. He said “I ‘unno,” but left out “but Sal thinks it’s racism, and I’m startin’ to wonder if she’s right.”

        ‘I ‘unno’ is an untruthful statement though, because Walky does know why Sal thinks she is ‘underappreciated’ as he put it and he has seen evidence that points to her being right. It is fundamentally a lie he is telling to avoid talking about the parts about the situation he finds too uncomfortable.

          But what she thinks is not necessarily what he thinks. Yes, we know that Sal is probably right, but he doesn’t know what to think. And he wasn’t asked what Sal thinks.

          I don’t know what signs you are talking about. The only reason I know it’s racism is because Sal brought it up, and I don’t think Willis would put it in there just to disprove it. I’m just taking her word on faith.

          Walky just started noticing now. So he has the same information we have, minus knowing there’s an author, but plus every reason to doubt that his parents would actually be racist.

          Everything in the comic points to me that Walky is not ready to accept that his parents are racist. And, as long as that is the case, saying he doesn’t know isn’t a lie. It’s at most being judicious with the truth and not answering questions he wasn’t asked.

        I’ve heard of the song. What I don’t understand for sure is why he was singing it. My best guess is that he thinks she’s being stubborn and pushing everyone away from her.

        Though, in the song, that aspect seems to be more about romantic love, which gives me pause. Is there maybe some fictional work where this song features that he may be referencing?

        Or is that last paragraph just thinking about it too much?

    Oh Walky. Start with a backflip comment and mocking her about being cool (you’re not cool, just successful and loved). Move to Dorothy (not you) wanting her to come to dinner. Then add a joke about her “package”. Yep, Sal is now fully primed to explode. The Desperado part was the least offensive thing you said, but it was the last straw and you knew it.
