          Except that all falls into “topical reference”, since we know they’re in current time, not a specific year.

          DoA time is basically comic time – it takes place THIS YEAR, but maybe the IU calendar doesn’t match up to this year’s specifically with the dates and day of the week. Willis usually keeps it to ‘an October’ or ‘An August’, which is suitably vague. The date picking is done by fans, hence why it’s usually best to go ‘it’s ROUGHLY Oct. 4th in DoA time.’

          Essentially my point. Tan is correct for the moment. You can analyze the given clues and determine that it must be Monday, October 4th and from that pick a year, but it’s likely we’ll eventually get a piece of evidence that contradicts that and proves we’re not in any real year.
          Best not to think about it. First monday in October.

Or maybe both this chapter and the next chapter will be fairly short and it’ll be Tuesday, October 5th, 2016, followed by Wednesday, October 6th, 2017.

          Really now, is this what your suspension of disbelief is gonna break on? That the in-comic days of the week for a given date will (most years) not match up with the out-of-comic calendar? The single most arbitrary thing about our calendars, out of a lot of arbitrary aspects?

          Who even decided when the first monday would be? If it makes it easier, just imagine that person came to that decision a day later. Or a day earlier. Or a few days one way or the other. And every out-of-comic year, some in-comic time traveler goes and messes with the guy and it moves around more.

      I honestly am a horrible cynic so whenever these two get together, I want them to get separated and find other women. However, there doesn’t seem much in the way of age appropriate options for Leslie.

        ‘unno, speaking as one whose parents voted for The Guy Who Won, I like to believe there’s hope for any relationship. Even when one feels horribly, horribly betrayed by another’s political choice (GRR), I still want to believe that love can redeem the other. it may just require patience (a lot), tolerance (A LOT), and a willingness to meet each other half-way (SO HARD!). But, if you love them, you do it.

          I would hardly say Leslie loves Robin at this point. She hardly knows her and is mostly just hugely crushing on her. Like Leslie said to Roz, the kind of shit Robin is spouting to be politically expedient is massively damaging on a very real scale to almost everyone not cis/het/white.

          That is NOT a crush or relationship worth nurturing, and Leslie being unable to get over it before now is becoming a real point of self-loathing. Even now, her instant reaction of getting goo-goo eyes when Robin shows up weighs on her, almost as much as Robin showing up in the first place.

          I would say that respect is the single most important thing for a personal relationship. Robin does not respect that which is hugely important to Leslie. I don’t think you can have tolerance or compromise without respect- real, all-encompassing respect for a person and what matters to them.

          I can’t comment on your situation but I completely broke ties with my family after I realised that they would never respect me or that which mattered to me. And it was one of the very best things I have ever done. Love is not enough. That’s the sort of mentality that keeps people in abusive relationships- familial as well as romantic. (Speaking very much from experience there.)

        Yeah, it’s a giant clusterfuck and I’ve reached levels of livid I never thought I could at the level of moral bankruptcy and cavalier desire to throw away a trans kid’s life because he had the “indecency” to be raped and make them look bad. Feeling energized for my next big fights with admin though.

        Oh, also found out a resource I gave the kid who got raped literally saved his life which is both awesome and terrible at the same time. Because it shouldn’t have gotten to a point where a printout I gave him was literally the tipping point on whether or not he lived and it sucks that admin are letting him get continually bullied and harassed and are even joining in on the bullying and dismissing the PTSD they gave him by allowing him to get raped on campus in the first place.

        So yeah, definitely feeling Leslie’s death glower right now.

    I honestly think she’s gonna apologize for how things went in the classroom. She’ll have listened. But she’ll be doing it for the wrong reasons–she’s worried how she’s being perceived by young people.

    That said, it will be a bit of crack. She’ll have to consider it. Mostly because Willis plays Robin too sympathetic, and he’s gonna write stuff to give us hope.

    Hmmm. Seems like an odd switch from a one-off of Sal maybe trying to find Amazi-Girl to Robin in what seems like almost aggressively non-congressional clothes (and using people’s names!).

    There is a hopeful situation to be found here, maybe – it’s possible that Dorothy’s interrupted question about her interns got Robin thinking, and she asked Aide/You ‘hey for rizzle why would someone care about my interns’. Them getting into a fight with a for-real campus superhero would be memorable, so Aide/You would be able to tell her. It is at least remotely possible, I think, that we’re about to see a Robin (AS Robin, not as Congresswoman DeSanto) here to talk to Leslie ‘about that intern thing’ since she knows Leslie was at the rally.

    Which could conceivably cross over into Sal and Amazi-Girl, maybe Dorothy too, and the Hunt For Ryan. (And re-complicate Leslie’s feelings about Robin, because while she’s politically loathesome, certain parts of Leslie will have proof that personally she’s very slightly less so.)
