          Also realized that the theoretical chest window (or “boobie hatch”) would hafta be in the shape of her logo initial, cuz there’s not room for both…unless it’s just the triangle in the A – not really a window then, more like a peephole. It has to be clear that it’s a design element of the costume and not just shoddy maintenance – “Ohmigod, it’s Homeless Girl!”

    Dorothy’s casual nerd-familiarity is no surprise at this point. I’m not sure whether Daisy picked up “chest window” from comics or from “100 ways to reveal female flesh to my horny, horny eyes.”

        I think he’s talking about Power Boy, a short-lived Teen Titans, who seems… I dunno, inspired by Power Girl or something. He wore a black version of her costume with the boob hole (and he had a hairy chest). Why he dressed like her… I have no idea. But considering he was also Supergirl’s super-stalker, his decision making process was always suspect.

          Actually, at Comic Con in 2008, I saw a very impressive drag queen dressed up as Power Girl too. You wouldn’t have guessed it was a man… until you saw their face properly. They had to be at least 40.

          There’s a difference between someone in drag and a dude. When they’re in drag, they’re trying to disguise the fact that they’re a dude. I don’t doubt that they can pull it off well when pretending to be female.

          No way it would work when still quite visibly a man, I think.

          Of course, Daisy’s just baaaarely concealing hers behind a completely transparent facade of professional interest, so…

          Exactly Willis. Its find that Daisy is a sexual being and if she feels comfortable being sexual, that’s fine and dandy. But that’s in regards to normal interaction.

          But she seems to let her sexual lust affect her duties as Editor, which is for the most part a professional position.

          She was completely uninterested in the vigilante story when she thought it was a boy, but now that she finds out its a girl, she was EXTREMELY excited about the story, all because she wanted to see a hot girl in a revealing costume.

          Well, right. No one’s saying that her behavior is correct. It is sexist in that she’s only interested in news stories about females, so her sexism is there because of her sex drive. Which guys do. By pointing out that females are capable of the same thing, *gay* females, it’s showing equality for both genders as well as sexual orientation.

          I consider what Daisy is doing as rather anti-feminist. Yes, Girl’s are allowed to have libidos and allowed to be sexual. I’m not saying they can’t be. Sex for all I say. But there is a time and a place for it, especially when you’re in charge.

          Daisy seems to often use her “professional” position as Editor primarily as a tool to satisfy her libido, but running stories that she personally finds arousing.

          Think about it: she ignores a story about student abuse in the dorms without giving a proper reason for it and seems dismissive of Billie until Billie offers insight about a female super-hero who Daisy hopes might be “sexy”.

          She demands that her reporter Dorothy cover a story about a hot girl in a sex tape, which is rather fivolous and shallow, when compared to the mysterious vigilante on school grounds, due in large part because Daisy thought it was going to be a male vigilante.

          Because she thinks the vigilante is male she refuses to give it any consideration or attention, claiming that it’s only hearsay despite numerous sightings, which includes an entire dorm hallway of students, but abruptly thinks the story has merit she discovered the vigilante is female and might be dressed up in a sexy and revealing costume.

          The idea of feminism in the work place is for women to be treated as an an equal to their male companions and to be taken seriously as professionals.

          Well, I don’t know about you, but seeing her emphasis primarily on stories that seem to showcase sexy girls over stories that might have deeper merit beyond sexual arousal, is hardly the sign of someone I would take seriously in the work place, unless of course the job was something like Playboy.

          Daisy has at least twice now demonstrated that her decisions and interests can be primarily driven or at least over-ridden by her desire to get her rocks off with a hot girl. Other stories presented to her that don’t involve that, seem unimportant and frivolous to her.

          You keep saying it’s anti-feminist (over and over), but all of your rambling evidence isn’t about feminism at all, but being a bad editor. You’ve yet to link the two ideas.

          Feminism strives for womens rights and respect, especially in the workplace.

          Feminists have striven for equal pay, rights for things like maternity leave, and of course equal treatment from employers.

          Daisy acting a fool shows how incapable she is when holding a seat of power, and would give sexist men an example of how women are inferior to men, specifically in the workplace or when given authority.

          I’d say feminism allows women to be fools in positions of power just as much as it allows men to be. And sexist men don’t need examples to make public idiots of themselves.

          It’s kind of frightening that every single woman who reaches a position of power is required to be the Shining Example For All Females Everywhere, and if they have any weaknesses whatsoever, we should devour them whole. Point and deride them for being imperfect human beings like the rest of us. Why can’t they just be themselves, as a boss? Why can’t women be human beings?

          Yes, Daisy's actions themselves are not feminist, but the portrayal of her is. There are other females in the comic who are more balanced, less balanced and all sorts in between. The point is that men and women both have their own foibles and are capable of being sexist.
          The problem with feminism is the double standard presented and that it's impossible for women to be sexist. By displaying truly human interactions, that there are females out there who aren't responsible with their power but not saying that ALL females are, this is a very forward thinking comic.

          Honestly, I don’t see why yaoi fangirls are less legitimate than anyone who enjoys a good moment of eroticism between Harley and Poison Ivy, but whatevs.

          I don’t know if tacky is the word I’d use to describe this still, but I will say that just about anything shines in this light when asked repeatedly using the creepiest tones and expressions possible. Substitute the text with her asking if she has a battlecry for example. It’s the not question itself that’s unflattering, it’s the way in which it was asked. “You gonna use that spoon? Are. You. Gonna. Use. That. Spoon?”

          As far as “Journalistic Integrity” goes, I can’t say this seems like odd behavior even by real newspaper standards, and as a college paper they’re not really that. You’re kind of holding her to a higher standard than her position warrants.

          It’s really more of a “Journalism Club” than anything else. They put together some mock papers of questionable integrity that next to no one reads and they get to put it on their resume as an extra-curricular later when they enter the work force. Others seem to be handling the issue of whether or not this is anti-feminist better than I could, so I’ll leave that to them, but even if you could make a solid case that this is anti-feminist, it’s still a stretch to say it’s setting back the women’s rights movement to a measurable degree. It just doesn’t have enough of a readership or respectability to do that.

          eHarmony doesn’t allow gay couples. Their sister site, Compatible Partners, does, but that was only created once they got sued a bunch. The folks who run eHarmony are anti-gay and pro-waiting-until marriage, and since gays can’t get married in most states, that’s kind of a nonstarter.

          I was going by the fact that the main page let me pick both my own sex and the one I was looking for.
          A useless feature if you only allow straight people, but I see that doing that redirects me to the other site… where the information I just filled out isn’t even pre-filled for me?
          I did notice that there were zero gay success stories, even in the “diversity” section (and the fact that it exists probably would turn me off the site anyway).

          Why sue them, though? There are gay-only dating sites, too. And really, I’m going to sue them for the right to let me make a profile on a gay-unfriendly dating site when I could just go to a gay-friendly one? Why would I *want* to.

          Just use OkCupid. I met my ex there.
          (I also got propositioned for sex by a supposedly-straight man twice my age who obviously didn’t read my profile, attempted to intimidate me through chat [Note: That doesn’t work well], and called me and other gay users words unfit for printing [and the poor guy just couldn’t understand why he kept getting turned down…], but ignore that.)
