Has booster said it about Amber? I thought I remembered a conversation where Amber pointed out they HADN’T said anything similar, only for Lucy, and Amber snarked at them for it?
Circeus
Actually, I’m pretty sure he thought Amber and Walky were the perfect couple. Called them “diametrically opposed garbage”, IIRC.
Specifically, Booster didn’t say anybody was BETTER than Walky, just that they could DO better. AKA, the relationship wasn’t healthy and they could find a better one, which was 100% accurate with Lucy.
Besides Amber but ye, and even then you can acknowledge/criticize an unhealthy relationship and still care that both parties come out of the other end okay.
Oh shit, those are 50 pieces, aren’t they. I mistook them for the boxes 20 pieces used to come in back in the day.
This might actually be more than Walky can handle…in one sitting, he’s going to need a bathroom break at some point.
Ethendel
I think what terrifies me more is the knowledge that you guys can BUY 50 Nugget boxes. Here in Australia, they stop at 20.
Don’t get me wrong, I will still order 3 boxes for 60 nuggies. I’m terrified because 50 per box is just too much power for one human to abuse.
Yet_One_More_Idiot
250 nuggets…I could do that! xD
To be fair, I literally just got home after a 3-hour accounting exam. The first thing I did on leaving the exam hall (which was actually in a Holiday Inn hotel xD) was duck into Micky D’s for a bite before heading for the Tube.
Laura
Congratulations on finishing your exam!
(I’m still in lurk mode but a 3-hour exam deserves a “congratulations”.)
That sounds like something you must have worked extremely hard for. You have every right and reason to be very proud of yourself. In fact, I think you should feel proud of you for doing that.
Congratulations. 🙂
Michelle J Caboose
I thought the 50 piece comes in a bucket? Those boxes look a little small to be more than 20 pieces.
Michelle J Caboose
Okay, I see they say “50” on them. Maybe McNuggets are smaller than they were the last time I bought them (which was probably around the time DoA debuted).
Random832
cube root principle means that a 50 piece box only needs to be like 30% larger than a 20 piece box.
Needfuldoer
I think if anyone else tried to sell fried chicken in a bucket, the Colonel would rise from his grave and beat the crap out of them.
Olofa
There’s a chicken & pizza place here in New Brunswick that better start preparing for Zombie Colonel.
If I’m reading the boxes right those are 50 piece boxes. Which makes 250 nuggets. Assuming he’s not making multiple trips, which might be a Super Sized assumption.
But what about the hot mustard and sweet and sour?
Steamweed
The Walkerton men are refined connoisseurs. They do not need sauce. They will not use sauce. They will consume the McNugget in its unadulterated form, as the gods intended.
Clif
If that’s what the gods intended, why would they have created Honey Mustard?
Embe13
nah man honey dill!
(hoenstly last box of mcd nuggets i ate (25yearsago at least) was with one honey and one mustard cause they didnt sell it as a prmixed diiing sauce then, but up here in mosquitoa we make the honey dill sauce seen (possibly not currenty due to drumpfs terriffs) at most grocers accross canada and the northern states)
i havent even eaten mcds fries in 20+ years, the coffee is the only thing they have that didnt give me bottom rot
Freezer
This is why you make friends with someone who works at Popeye’s, so they can hook you up with Blackened Ranch and Mardi Gras sauce (and/or Cajun Sprinkle if you’re feeling bold).
morleuca
I do like the chili sauce that McD’s has for their tenders, usually get that alongside the other two
So I’m going to take the opportunity of a new strip to say some things that have been on my mind regarding this comment section.
The discourse surrounding this storyline has gotten absolutely nasty on many fronts, from what we might colloquially refer to as the “paladin” and “sicko” camps both, inasmuch as those terms have any actual utility. There have absolutely been outbursts of misogyny and homophobia from critics of this storyline, with some people unsatisfied by a perceived lack of narrative consequence taking that desire to an uncomfortable extreme. At the same time, there is a tendency by some in the opposite camp to absolutely jump down the throat of anyone who expresses even minor criticism of this storyline or the creative decisions made therein.
On a personal level, I remain genuinely hurt and upset at some comments made toward me on yesterday’s strip, thankfully now deleted, which impugned my character and, implicitly, my support of gay women, because of my criticisms towards Joyce and Dorothy as a couple and how they’ve approached their relationship. These comments were deeply upsetting to me because I am a transgender lesbian and it felt like that aspect of who I am, which is absolutely fundamental to me and how I live my life, was being casually erased in the name of shipping discourse. That is not acceptable.
I’ve mentioned this in recent comments, but many people in this comments section need to develop the skill of encountering a comment they disagree with but have nothing substantive to say in response, and simply moving on. I freely admit to failing in this myself on occasion, but I do make an effort to be discerning and engage only in good faith. I think if we can all make an effort to take this approach, this comment section would be a much more pleasant and productive space.
Just extend people a little grace and focus less on pithy one-liners, put-downs, and dunks. Everyone here is a real person.
Now, with that said, I have a date tomorrow (today?) at a ramen bar with a very cute girl, so do please wish me luck.
Do you read from the bottom-up? Have I been doing this wrong all along??
Clif
Yes, though the proper approach to reading the contents is to go through and see what Taffy said, and then go back and read all the lesser stuff.
Clif
Well, on the first pass you should also check out any Yoto post with links.
eh, whatever
He happened to see the bottom first. Are you capable of seeing text in English for any non-trivial amount of time without reading it?
misanthropope
i am! its an ability i developed spontaneously. i lost a high-stakes dare, and my assignment was to read Atlas Shrugged. I can make pearls with my brain!
Amós Batista
Sorry, I’m so tired that I caught myself going straight to final argument, because no, I don’t wanna read it all.
The comment section has definitely gotten really nasty and toxic lately, though I feel it’s way worse towards people who don’t like the Joyce/Dorothy ship and/or have any criticism of the current storyline. I try to avoid replying to several people who I feel are consistently toxic and refuse to argue in good faith.
If that’s your perception then I can’t change that but I’ve definitely gotten very annoyed with people on both “sides” lately at a rate I would say is equivalent.
Also I feel like there’s very little misogyny and homophobia from the “paladins” group, though some people in the “sickos” love to accuse anyone who dislikes the current storyline of those things.
Doopyboop
To be fair, I think the worse of the misogyny and homophobia has been in comments that wind up deleted.
Seralyna
There were multiple comments with genuine awful vitriol that were removed, i’ve seen this happen on at least three days. I can’t blame you for not having happened to see it, but it was very distinctly happening.
Dot
This thread is probably not the place to litigate which “side” is “worse.” I feel like that’s very plainly opposed to the point I’m trying to make.
Clif
Are you at all familiar with human beings?
Also, best wishes for a very enjoyable date!

There is a lot of homophobia and misogyn in the paladin group its wrong to imply all are but I have seen it and it makes paladins look bad to deny its a problem.

Good luck on your date!
It’s frustrating for me at times to see commenters’ who overall stance I agree with, but who are so mean to people in going about expressing it. “Mostly right, but a real ass about it” is much less enjoyable than “strong disagree, but having fun.”
Tangentially, @Laura: I don’t know if you still lurk here, but I miss seeing you post, and I’m sad things got so bad that one day. Hope you’re taking care of yourself. <3

Interacting with people is scary and there are no spoons. So I lurk.
Laura
Hi again,
(*Laura says in an even tinier “eep!”*)
Just by way of explanation, this last time was actually the third time (to my recollection) that I’ve accidentally found myself at the bottom of a pile-on for dumb stuff that I’ve said, likely cluelessly but without intent to offend. It particularly hurt to be called a “white colonial”, this last time, although I understand that people have every right to be angry, and, like Dorothy said, sometimes folks have to just “take it on the chin”.
This comic strip was actually the only place I interacted with anyone online, outside of work (which is just email). I don’t have any other forum on the internet. That’s why I tended to get a little obsessive with the posting.
And I figure — if for whatever reason I’m not moderating (or cannot moderate) my comments so that they don’t unintentionally provoke such anguish and righteous outrage among my peers — then I’ve really got no business writing stuff online at all.
I dunno… I’d blame my age, or my neurological shape, or my mental health disabilities and trauma, or meds or whatever… but the point is, I just keep making people very upset. Without meaning to. And that’s not really what I’m here for.
Believe it or not, I actually do try to be a peacemaker, most of the time.
I’m not trying to point any fingers. I think I may have just missed the boat when it comes to online discourse. It’s too rough and tumble for me to adapt to. …So it’s best just to focus on work and on the few people I can talk with directly, voice to voice if not face to face.
Folks here know how parano I get about privacy, anyway. So being offline is likely for the best.
Thank you for reaching out, and for understanding, Yumi and Li.
Very well said. Get an extra egg in your ramen. If you’re already getting an extra egg, get another. If you’re allergic to eggs, I have no contingency for this circumstance.

To be fair hasn’t Booster said to all of Walky’s girlfriends they were better than him. That’s clear motive to break up/hj
Nono
I’m not sure they’ve said that to Dorothy actually.
Which might be a burn? I’m not sure.

When no one was looking, David Walkerton took one hundred McNuggets. He took 100 McNuggets. That’s as many as five twenty pieces.
And that’s terrible (for his cholesterol).

That’s a lot more than 100 McNuggets.
