It’s pretty cool that he was able to earn respect from someone who would be considered an “alpha male”, so to speak. I would say that this situation is an overall “win” for Walky.

Especially after making such a huge deal about how she needs less distractions in college and the fact that Walky has no goals, unlike danny, and pretty much breezes through life with little to no incentive or ambition. except for mcnuggets and pajama jeans.
Yeah that’s why I just don’t see Dorothy/Walky lasting very long. Once the initial rush of attraction wears off he really doesn’t seem like Dorothy’s type at all. He screams rebound to me which is why I don’t see any reason for Dorothy to actually talk about this with Danny. Give it sometime and then if it seems like it’s going somewhere maybe have a talk about it but the break up wounds haven’t even started to heal so why hurt the poor guy all over again? He didn’t feel the need to run off and tell her about his brief hook up with Billie although I’m sure that will come up now.

Walky will dump Dorothy, actually, when he gets the Rhodes Scholarship he didn’t even apply for.
If I recall, the main reason Dorothy broke it off with Danny is because he lacked ambition of his own and simply followed Dorothy to Indiana. She just didn’t want to string him along anymore. Danny also made the mistake of implying Dorothy’s ambition to get into Yale was “just a phase”.
Walky on the other hand came to Indiana on, more or less, his own accord (and yes, his parents wanted him to). Sure he doesn’t have an exact idea of what he wants to do, but keep in mind Walky isn’t downplaying Dorothy’s ambition. That and they seem to share more common interests than Dorothy did with Danny, or so we can assume.
Point is, from my perspective, Walky isn’t some radical change from Danny and sure the relationship might not last. But Walky is more respecting to Dorothy’s life goals. I think his friendliness and shared hobby is just a bonus.
I don’t know what Dorothy considers their “status” to be at this point (perhaps we will find out), but she doesn’t strike me as someone who will date casually, at least not without it becoming more serious. Then again, I don’t have much to go on here, and so I could be mistaken. It’s just a feeling I get.
With regard to Walky having no direction or incentive in life, well, the incentive part may have just changed. And he isn’t stupid; if he learns how to apply himself when it comes to a specific goal, he probably has no limits.
Which is what I’m still trying to figure out. You could kind of explain away Walky’s amazing skills without any real practice or effort in That’s Walky because of the whole Alien thing.
This universe, that never happened. So somehow Walky never studies but is a genius, and never works out/is constantly eating junk food and yet has Adonis Abs. So either Walky is That Guy Everyone Hates, or something else is up.
