Unfortunately, a lot of Americans basically have to teach themselves if they want to even be mildly proficient in reading or writing. 10th-grade textbooks here are written as though the reader has a 6th- or 7th-grade reading level. We even fail at our own system for determining reading level. What the hell America.
I have Issues with this statement. The assumption that learning materials should always meet or push the educational boundary of those learning from them is, simply put, bad. Instructions to construct a table from IKEA are written to be as simple as functionally possible, so that anyone can learn it. Instructions to build a mathematical equation (or anything else) should be the same: simple enough to be understood by anyone educated to the point of understanding the simplest means of explaining it. Or, to put it more simply, don’t make the student work harder than they need to to learn. Learning should be fun, not tedious.
Obfuscative jargon for sesquipedalian loquaciousness’ sake is downright disingenuous. “I’m trying to teach you, but you’re not smart enough to understand me.” Nothing burns away a student’s desire to learn as fast as being told you’re too stupid to learn something.

I have some bad news for you: at every level, learning math requires practice, just as mastery of any other technical skill does. Unless you’re doomed to be a mathematician, the odds are very good that you’ll find that practice tedious — but your teacher or professor will look at you with a distinct lack of sympathy and say “Sorry you feel that way. Now get back to work.”
And they’ll be right. If it came easily, then we wouldn’t have to teach it. We have to teach it because it doesn’t come easily to most folks.

That was a one strip gag. Ethan/Danny was a whole mini-storyline that was not only serious, but also crazy-whacked-out adorbz. Even if they don’t ultimately end up together, there’s clearly at least going to be some kind of romantical interaction there.

@Random: That is hardly a defensible argument though. Point in fact, there is nothing to say there is not an invisible, intangible, and silent pink unicorn reading over your shoulder right now. Just because you can’t prove that it does not exist does not mean that it may, in fact, exist. Given two mutually exclusive options (does/does not exist; also likes/does not also like; ect), the option that is more probable and/or requires the least contrary proof is most likely to be right.

If the cast has 6 guys and one is openly gay, there is a 1/4 chance that one of the other men are into men at all. hardly slim pickings. and that’s if you avoid using the Kindsy scale. (absolute zeros are rare)
TLDR: Your analogy breaks down because unlike unicorns that READ, gays exist.
