      A fair amount of people still play-I say this as seeing many of my own friends and coworkers doing so.

      I feel like someone like Amber would still play this even if most dropped. It wouldn’t stop her from playing other games.

      Campus across the street has two stops, and one of them has a lure going at lunch time at least a couple times a week. So, college kids are playing, in Austin. I still play, and see people walking/playing in the evenings. Once school started, it slowed down, sure, but not gone.

        When I take my son to cub scouts most of the moms play it while waiting for the meeting to be over.

        But that’s probably a huge signifier of how uncool it is now.

        My campus has over two dozen stops. It’s a little daunting, especially since I have to keep the screen lit and unlocked for my steps to register for hatching eggs. That’s what drove me away from the game, and they’ve since added enough updates that it won’t fit on my phone anymore.

          There’s a Legend of Zelda CDI game where you can play as Zelda to fight Ganon. It’s called the Wand of Gamalon, and even though it may be the best CDI Zelda game, it’s still an absolutely terrible game that I cannot recommend.

          I recall either Aonuma or Miyamoto saying that they were surprised to find out that western fans wanted a playable Zelda so much, but after looking it up I only found more recent comments from Aonuma where he says, “If we had Princess Zelda as the main character, then what is Link doing?”
          I mean, that may have only applied to Breath of the Wild, but it does sound discouraging that Nintendo doesn’t want to solve a plot hole THAT easy to fix, right?

          They’ve used that and other half-assed excuses for not trying before, many times. If they literally just swapped which character gets kidnapped by Gannon, not only is that ”problem” solved, it would turn the whole story on its head, and make Gannon seem like less of a dumbass for trying exactly the same plan every time.

          But this is the company that thought the Dead or Alive guys were a good fit to develop a Metroid game, and were somehow surprised when people thought Other M was hot garbage.

          It was a Swedish company that made cellphones back in the early days.  They bet on the wrong horse when they tried to make the move to smartphones about five years ago (they went with the Windows OS), and since then about all you can say for them is that at least they’re still around.  Which is more than you can say for Research in Motion, makers of the Blackberry line of phones.

          When they went to use Windows, they’d already lost out on their first try of platform: Symbian. I liked its possibilities but they didn’t manage a so big app market and where technologically far from modern smartphone i.e. Basically still phone with added features not a mini-computer which you could also use to call people.

          Saaaaaame. Cordless phones aren’t that old, folks! Most places will still come with a landline! (Around here anyways, usually corded at one spot and then the rest are cordless).

          Cordless phones are great if you live in more than a one room house and don’t want to carry your cellphone to every room whether you have a landline or not. I leave my cell charging next to the cordless base station which acts as a bluetooth headset for the cell phone and now voila my cell phone rings in every room that I have a cordless handset in. They even talk and tell me I have a text message. (Granted it’s stupid cause instead of reading off the text message which does happen in my car the cordless handsets just say literally “TEXT MESSAGE” a few times).

          I use a landline with an el cheapo cordless phone I got at Mall*Wart , and the handset bears a striking similarity to the old Nokia 5200 series.

      Pretty sure AR Pokemon of some sort will be around for decades anyway. Might not be GO specifically, but its sure to have successors. Its pretty much the ideal IP for AR tech, and the techs only going to get better.

          That, and if Marcie is off with Malaya/Guns/Sayid (it’s my crack ship shut up), then that means there’s a chance for Amber and Sal to start hanging out.

          Malaya and (to a much lesser extent) Carla are the only characters I like that are actual jerks, unless you count ones like Mary who I enjoy as a villain rather than as a person.

          If appreciating people I might not get along with, who don’t think or behave or see the world just like I do makes me strange, then in my opinion the world could stand to get a lot stranger.

Funny how catching up and a 6-7 rereads change things.)

What I found strange that expressing your love for the people I’d have gotten along with the LEAST in the comic(Becky, Malaya, Sarah) in a few quick days’ succession of each other.
          At present, your worldview and appreciation of people I would not get along with well fascinates me more than anything!^^

      I live in a rural area and I’m still playing Pokemon Go, admittedly it’s been hard, but now that the buddy Pokemon part is there, I’ve been playing even when I don’t have Pokeballs.

      It probably would’ve had more staying power with casual fans if it had been released after it was a pretty solid game.

      Googling leads to inconclusive results. The Huffington post has an article that claims she was totally anti-science, other site sounds just like she thinks research done only by interested parties (interested in selling their stuff that is) is not unbiased and therefore not enough to base reliable conclusion on.
      Different industries claiming their stuff is safe is not really convincing given their track-record. On the other hand, a dialogue about risks, risk assessment and which risks a society is willing to take for what hoped-for gain is sadly missing on all sides. Life’s not safe.
      So what was your yelling about?

        I wish I’d been able to choose a team… I would have been Mystic all the way. Love Articuno, blue is my favorite color (or at least up there… purple and turquoise kind of jumble up my definition of “favorite”), and I have always prided myself on my intellect (it’s one of my very few assets) so I think that’s definitely the way I’d go.
        Nope, instead my phone is somehow incompatible with Pokemon Go.

      Amber’s not speaking to Danny now because she’s convinced he’s better off without her.

      And she kinda sorta not really reconciled with Sal, or at least stopped viewing her as an evil, life destroying monster.

        Amazi-girl did, anyway. It’s entirely possible that if Amber and sal cross paths, Amber will panic as usual and amazi-girl will take over. After all, amazi-girl is much better at dealing with sal, she just doesn’t try to use her fists immediately now.

          I feel like Amber is now labeling herself as the root of all her problems. Amber/AG doesn’t view Sal as a swirling vortex of evil now, so Amber has to blame herself for everything. Amber is the monster to be caged by Amazi-Girl or else she’ll hurt Sal, and Amber is so shitty that Danny is better off without her.

          She’s done this with Ethan too, actually. Once he stepped in on her raging at Joyce, she “realized” that it wasn’t that Joyce was manipulating Ethan into straightness (even though she totally was) or that Ethan was just making a stupid, terrible choice she disapproved of, the real problem is that Amber is so shitty and vile that Ethan just wouldn’t fake it with her.

          Ehhhhhh, I wouldn’t give AG TOO much credit. She IS the one who decided to stalk Sal and try picking fights with her and her friends.

Lailah made the really great point that for all of Amber’s narrative that she’s the real monster and AG has to protect Sal from her, Amber’s the one who runs away whenever she sees her and cries when she yells at Danny, whereas Amazi-Girl has stalked Sal numerous times and verbally abused Danny.

          Amber/AG are running on a narrative where everything about Amber is wrong, while everything Amazi-Girl does is moral and just, to the point where AG was the one who unilaterally decided that Danny betrayed her and Amber was better off without him, but Amber’s opinion is that Danny is better off without her.

          I won’t lie, the stalking and fight picking and feeding in to racist power structures (even if she herself is not racist) is why I’m not so hot about Amber and Sal becoming friends. A truce is one thing, but friendship is…. ehhhhh. Let’s just say it’d be hard to pull off.

          I’m thinking it’s really likely at this point.

          – Danny and Ethan hooking up means Amber loses focus with her two main relationships in the comic.

          – One of the things going on with Sal right now is that she has nobody she can connect with except for Marcie.

          – They came to a semi-understanding when they teamed up to get Ryan.

          – Given Sal’s involvement in Amber’s trauma, and why she was motivated to perform the robbery, I don’t think it’s outlandish that Sal would forgive her.

          – A lot of Amber’s character arc is similar to the one Sal went through in It’s Walky!.

          Plus this way they could totally be friends at roller derby, and that would be the best.

          There’s definitely a lot leading up to it, so I’m prepared for it to happen. It might not be my favourite part of either character’s storyline (unless it’s knocked out of the park) but I’m ready for it.

    Eh, never been a big Pokémon guy, so I never got Pokémon Go. That said, since my few friends know that I go for two one-point-five mile walks everyday, they will sometimes ask me to take their phone with me because they have an egg they really wanna hatch but are gonna be stuck in a meeting all day. It’s kinda weird having more than one phone on your person.

    I think it’s weird that everyone in the comments thinks Pokemon Go is a thing of the past. Like I play it every day and the gyms in my neighborhood are always hotly contested. They change teams constantly all day and night long. There’s a lot of people playing this game hahaha

    By odd coincidence, I was down in the park earlier, waiting for people to show up for SCA fighter practice, when I was accosted by a couple of middle-aged ladies in an SUV who apparently thought the shield leaning against my car was some kind of Pokeman gang sign and wanted to fight me for the gym or something.

    Having looked up what the team badges look like, I… don’t really see it. My shield has blue on it, I guess? And a bird? But the bird’s not the blue part. Also there’s a wolf and a star.
