        Eh, I don’t think that’d really be an issue. She’s really just sheltered and paranoid about being inadvertently offensive. The more comfortable she gets with somebody, the less it would be an issue. She has no problems with Walky, Sal, or Sarah over that.

        I’d be interested to see how her parents would react.

          I mean, Joyce has shown to be pretty racist at times. Early on she even described Sarah being her roommate as a novelty.

          It’s absolutely born from her sheltered upbringing, with even her mom being thrilled at her daughter having a black friend to prove how not racist she was to the rest of her neighbourhood, but I think she has the drive to grow out of it.

    Flash forward to the end of this scenario: the truth comes out, Raidah is dumped by Jacob. Later, Sarah brings him back to her room for some pre-marital hanky panky. Imagine the look on Joyce’s face:

    Happiness for her friend,
    Horror knowing what’s about to happen,
    Guilt because she helped it happen (a little anyway), and
    Jealousy because it’s what she secretly wants too!

    Sarah is always super cute, but has an air of being unapproachable (because she’s pretty much unapproachable). I’m really curious to see how Jacob and Sarah interact, given that Jacob basically cut her off as a friend in their last class meeting. It seems pretty clear that Sarah’s strategy is working.

    Today’s comment thread reminds me I live in the unfortunate universe where Sarah placed 11th on the hottest poll (which split the difference between physical attractiveness and popularity/likeability).

      Jacob cut her off because she decided that he didn’t really want to be friends, and even then defended her when Raidah was talking about how she was a toxic individual.

      If Sarah could just explain herself he’d probably listen, but she’s been so burned by past experiences that other than Joyce and maybe even then, she can’t consider anybody liking her.
