      Walky knows about Sal holding up the store, and he isn’t the most judgemental guy in the world.

          Also there’s a difference between ‘I was a victim of your sister’s holdup’ and ‘I stabbed your sister after she had been subdued.’ Even with Walky and Sal’s relationship as strained as it is, even with Amber’s mitigating circumstances, that is one of those things where all outcomes involve awkward.

          And while I don’t think he’ll be particularly judgmental if he finds out AG shares a body with Amber but isn’t really her anymore, that is one of those things you give a heads up as a courtesy before that gets awkward, too.

          I also don’t think Walky will understand the DID at all and will err on the side of just laughing awkwardly whenever it is brought up because he has no idea at all how you’re supposed to react or deal with that.

          And/or he’ll misinterpret what she means and lean into the comic-booky superhero thing because superheros having alter-egos is the only part he can even vaguely understand.

          Either way even if Walky won’t be JUDGEMENTAL about it, that doesn’t really mean he’ll react well either, imo…

          Yeah, pretty sure that’s how it’s going to go at first.

          It’s the probable scene where AG takes control of their body while Walky’s the only one around and she freaks the fuck out that I’m dreading, really, and until they reestablish contact there’s not much to prevent it. But at least if Walky gets a warning he doesn’t understand at first that’s something.

          I don’t think that’s fair, Walky’s A goof, yes, but he’s also really smart. He doesn’t show it much, but I don’t think he’ll be unable to comprehend something like that

          It’s not that Walky’s not smart, it’s that even well-meaning people who generally understand mental illness have trouble wrapping their heads around DID. A non-zero number of psychologists and psychiatrists don’t actually believe in it, period. And even the small subset of the cast who have had enough exposure that they could potentially realize what’s going on (Dina, Ethan, and Danny) probably haven’t. If Danny did, it’s clear it only became clear to him after the breakup. (Things have gotten considerably more fractured since then, and Amber’s been more open about it, but she discussed not having control of her body during the car chase and he didn’t get it then.)

          Hell, I’m still not entirely convinced Amber knows AG is taking the body out at night and working with Sal. And if Amber doesn’t realize how separate the two of them are, it is going to literally take being confronted with hard evidence to realize that. And the fact that AG is a superhero identity and there is a double life implied there makes things even more complicated – it’s where Danny got tripped up, and Dina also appears to be assuming AG/Amber dichotomy is part of the hero thing and as a convenience to Dina.

          The fact that we the commenting body generally think it’s DID and recognize that something’s seriously up with Amber’s psyche is twofold: We’ve had some extremely patient, eloquent commenters with DID talk about how true this rings to them, and we’ve seen more of Amber and AG than anyone else, including scenes of them actively talking or being adversarial towards each other. Plus I think it’s safe to say a chunk of us have at least beginner’s knowledge of psychology, which is more than can be assumed of most of the cast. (Even then, not all commenters get it – I’ve certainly bungled the PTSD part before. Functional understanding of the nuances of mental illness is really complicated for laymen.)

          Amber does know that AG has taken over and gone out at night. It’s not clear she knows how regular it is. She may think she’s shut if down.

          And while it took Danny a long time to figure it out, to the extent he actually has, she never really tried to explain it to him. She’s talked about it, mostly after the breakup, but without ever really laying the groundwork. Now though, she’s far more split than she was when she started dating Danny and it’s horribly unfair to Walky not to tell him soon – before he runs into an AG who has no idea they’re dating. Possibly by waking up at night, if they sleep together.

          Maybe I’m misremembering here, but wasn’t the issue less that she went and changed his grades anyway than she’d already done so while he navel-gazed and could not undo it without putting herself at greater risk?
          I should probably go reread that section and make sure, but meh.

      Walky definitely has his moments. He’s a jackass sometimes, and raised on too much pop culture for his own good, but he has demonstrated that he can be a romantic, as well as vulnerable. Not that he likes to expose the latter a whole lot.

    I know these two have issues they aren’t addressing but I still find them adorable and I’m glad they are happy at the moment. That being said, I was hoping for more Sal and her adorkable companion, but this is an acceptable substitute until then.

    Unrelated to all these relationships, when is that thing with Jacob going to come back around? I am waiting for Joyce to learn a lesson still.

      I’m still betting it hits the boiling point during his brother’s* incoming visit, given how Raidah was stressing good impressions and Jacob was a big ball of anxiety over it. Best time for shenanigans that doubtless end tragically!

      * I’m pretty sure he’s been named but have forgotten it and don’t feel like looking it back up.

        Harrison! His name is Harrison. Now for me to attempt to remember this until he actually appears and repetition plus tag helps it stick. (I only semi-consistently remember Dorothy’s parents’ names, much less anyone less important, and I think technically Stacey’s name lacks that E and I just got it stuck in my head that way? There’s a reason I refer to the Wilcoxen as a joint unit.)

          That would make sense as a good time for that to happen, though I’m hoping Harrison’s visit is either a learning lesson for Raidah or Jacob kicking her to the curb. Since she seems to be more interested in what Jacob means for her than actually being there for him. But maybe she will learn and improve, I don’t think any of the kids(students, they aren’t actually children) are irredeemable except maybe Mary and definitely Ryan. Though the latter has been effectively removed forever as far as I know.

          I kind of doubt even after Ryan recovers (which should be half past never, our time, going off what everyone’s said of his injuries,) his parents would want him on a campus where he was repeatedly attacked with sharp objects. Also it’s kind of hard to imagine him not being recognized all over campus afterwards as The Rapist Dude Whose Face Got Wrecked Because He Was A Rapist. He’s not coming back unless we get a cut to thrilling legal drama with Amber.

          What I think/hope it’s going to be is one huge culmination of that subplot, including Raidah’s elitism playing a huge role in things going pear-shaped. Could be wrong, but I think she also needs some kind of wake up call before she changes courses. Like, the meeting is already not going as well as they’d like/as Raidah thinks because of some offhand jerk remarks, then the inescapable pull of Drama and Joyce Shenanigans, then it all falls apart and in the aftermath Jacob realizes Joyce has been hitting on him and gives her a harsh reality check too.

          ‘You only make one first impression’ is one of those statements that just guarantees disaster, you know?

          Joyce said three girls stepped forward and said they were his victims too. Chances aren’t that bad that we’ll never see him again.

          Maybe. There may still be plot hooks and drama to be mined there.

          But that might all be done with the current bros trying to hassle the other girls

          I figure since he only came back to facilitate AG changing keys on Sal and his injuries sound at least as bad as Toedad’s, he’s gone either for good or past the length of this semester so as good as permanently removed.

          (I recall somewhere Walky used the phrase ‘eviscerated’ or the like, which I would take as hyperbole, and even Amber saying she tried to kill him could be her deep in the self-loathing pit, but Joyce says he’ll be in the hospital ‘for a long time’ while Sal says someone stabbed him ‘half to death’ which says to me Amber did in fact get him somewhere that needs stitches and a lengthy recovery time, very possibly surgery and/or PT.)

          Later on, he pulls a Pulaski and gets brought in to replace Joe for a season, but then Joe gets brought back to replace *him* after he turns out not to be very popular with the fans.

      Joyce already learned the lesson. Dorothy called her out, Joyce backed off. That was kinda it.

      Now, I think it’s going to get more complicated, but anything that happens from here on out with that is going to be on Raidah and/or Jacob, not just her, given she seems to be backed off.

        Well, she backed off because of what Walky said, so she still managed to learn the wrong lesson.

        As Inahc pointed out, Joyce backed off because of her issues with her own repressed sexuality. Not because she learned what she was doing is wrong, so she really hasn’t learned anything. She just has two very different lessons that need to be addressed.

        And it’s not entirely clear yet how much she’s backed off. She hasn’t seen Jacob since (not surprising, since it was yesterday, I think.)

        I think she learned a more subtle point than just “issues with her own repressed sexuality” though. She was justifying her actions to her self as fine because it was “True Love” and thus obviously meant to be and overriding any minor concerns like Raidah. Walky’s teasing made her realize that much of it was just lust and thus she wasn’t justified, even under her own screwed up romantic notions.
        Essentially she realized she might be playing the role of the “other women” in their little rom-com rather than the lead.

      FWIW, I think that we’re seeing Willis get all his pieces in the right place. Sal’s going there so now it’s time to start moving other characters to the same place.

        I’m not a Slipshine member, so for Leslie’s sake I DO hope it’s going completely well. It’s just tough since I’ve also been in a relationship before with someone who was all kinds of wrong for me, but the sex was fantastic and she knew all the right things to say when I was having doubts so I stayed far longer than I should have.

        As for Amber and Walky… sometimes a non-harmful codependency can make for the best kind of relationship. (And by non-harmful, I mean the kind where each partner isn’t reinforcing each other’s harmful habits, like drugs/alcohol, or get dangerously jealous or violent at the merest notion that one partner is straying.) You never take each other for granted, and you also know that the other person needs you just as much as you need them. (As opposed to the kinds of relationships where one person is much more into the other than is reciprocated.)

        I mean I feel like it’s not going to go as smoothly as Leslie’s saying it is now, because no relationship will ever go perfectly smooth sailing forever everyone’s happy always. But maybe Anna’s abrasiveness will turn out to be a red herring for some other Leslie-related drama? Who knows.
