    Those lines in panel 3 don’t indicate motion. They indicate the ball’s surprise at seeing its good friend Dina. Their friendship is built on not throwing each other around, so Dina chose to end the game. I’m 99% sure that’s what happened.

    I just had a thought for David (unrelated to today’s comic):

    I just walked in on someone watching the flashback episode of Big Bang Theory where Sheldon says they’ll be sorry for buying iPods when Microsoft launches their player. I laughed, and then I realized it would be worth money to me to see a Zune become an object in this comic, owned by one of the characters (or Shortpacked!, even). I love those things so much, I went so far to import one of the last HD’s via some family in California!

    See, what happened was, Joyce’s hand slipped as she was throwing and it went flying in the opposite direction from Dina.

    Dina simply teleported to the appropriate location and caught the wayward ball, thus winning Catch.
